Itinerary of your trip Greatful Laos Cycling Holiday 10 Days

  • Day 1 Luang Prabang (L, D/Cycling 20 Km)

      Luang Prabang (L, D/Cycling 20 Km)

      Meet your guide early morning and get sized up on one of our quality mountain bikes.  Ride a short distance to the Mekong River where weโ€™ll board a ferry to cross the river.  On this tour โ€“ our newest tour opposite side of the Mekong River โ€“ youโ€™ll meet villagers, see animals roaming and try local snacks along the way.


      Weโ€™ll ride a looping circuit of about 20km (3 hours) medium biking on dirt roads with some hills. There is a good amount of shade along the way and you will feel like you are miles away from Luang Prabang with the absence of other tourists and traffic.


      Look back on Luang Prabang from the river. We then ride on gravel roads passing rice fields and amazing views. We stop in a village and try local snacks and observe village life happening around us. We continue on single tracks passing farmlands and animals. Ensure your camera is charged for all the stunning photos you will take.


      We stop again in another village for cold drinks and watching locals going about their business. After exploring on single tracks a little longer we hit the tarmac a short while to the ferry. We have lunch in a local restaurant near the ferry landing and your guide is with you every step of the way. 


      In the Evening over dinner at a great local vocational restaurant, we will discuss the ride ahead. Overnight in Luang Prabang!

  • Day 2 Luang Prabang Mount Phousi, Almsgiving, Pak Ou Caves (B,L/Cycling 65Km)

      Up early this morning to give alms to the many temples of the city, we will find a spot on the roadside to witness this serence procession of ornage clad novices and monks collect donations from he local community. 


      After the procession we will take a short hike to the top of mount Phousi to view the early morning bustle of the town. then back to the hotel for breakfast


      Our ride today takes us north of the city to Pak Ou and the famous Buddha Cave this holy Mountment is key attraction in the area nd is still worshipped and used to this day.  We will take a local style lunch on the beach at Pha An we can enjoy a swim in the Nam Ou river before cycling Back to Luang Prabang!

  • Day 3 Kuang Si Waterfalls (B, L/Trek 8Km & Cycle 27Km)

      Start with a short transfer to the village of Long Lao,  a thriving Hmong community of around 80 families. The community manages an excellent 8km trail that finishes at the top of Kuang Si Falls. we can enjoy lunch and a swim in the crystal waters before 

      We will stop at the Laos Water Buffalo Dairy on the way back from the city for a Tour of this rare and interesting community project which educates locals in animal husbandry and welfare and also helps provide valuable income and diversification to remote rural villages, and makes some truly amazing Ice Cream!

  • Day 4 Luang Prabang To Kasi (B, L, D/Cycling 65Km)

      A 2-hour transfer by Minivan brings you to Kiu Kacham, at an altitude of 1350 meters. In the first part of this stage, youโ€™ll cycle between 1000 and 1400 meters to Phou Khoun. After Phou Khoun, youโ€™ll enjoy a long descent with great views, bringing you to the valley of Kasi.  Overnight in Vang Vieng!

  • Day 5 Kasi - Vang Vieng (B, L/Cycling 48Km)

      This day will be much easier, as we cover a shorter distance on gently rolling hills to Vang Vieng, which weโ€™ll reach in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit the Tham Xang, which is set among the dramatic scenery on the banks of the Nam Song River. Relax with a Lao beer and watch the sunset over the mountains you have just crossed. If we make good time we can have a dip.

  • Day 6 Vang Vieng (B, L/Cycle 35Km & Trek 7Km)

      In the morning we take  a vigorous and steep trek up Big Pha Ngern. This climb is fun and you are rewarded with spectacular views  across the Song Valley, the trek is around 2.5-3 hours so we should be back in Vang Vieng by lunch In the afternoon you can venture to Blue Lagoon 3 for a swim. Overnight in Vang Vieng!

  • Day 7 Vang Vieng Tubing And Caving (B,L/No Cycling)

      Today we will take part in many of the adventure activities that Vang Vieng has to offer, start with a short excursions to the water cave where we will float through te cave structure pulling ourselves along in a inner tube. after we will have time for the Ziplines if you are brave enough. Our final Activity of the day is a leisurely kayak on the Nam song river.  Overnight in Vang Vieng!

  • Day 8 Vang Vieng To Nam Ngum Lakeside (B, L/Cycling 43Km)

      Easy day today. After Breakfast you cycle to the โ€˜sea of Laosโ€™: the 250 square kilometres, of artificial Lake Nam Ngum. A 2-hour boat ride brings us to our hotel to relax poolside. and enjoy the sunset over the Lake. Overnight in Ban Kuene District.

  • Day 9 Nam Ngum To Vientiane (B,L/Cycling 50 Km)

      You need a big Breakfast today as it is a busy day in the morning we cycle to Laos Conservation Trust to visit the program there and learn about their mission to protect the endangered species of S.E.A, then you cycle through paddy fields with fine views in the Phou Khao Khouay mountain range before entering the capital city of Laos: Vientiane. 

      Youโ€™ll ride through the suburbs on your way to the centre of this bustling, historical city situated along the bank of the Mekong. A Final Sindat meal on the banks of the Mekong to finish the trip with local flavour. Our FAREWELL DINNER will be a local style BBQ on the banks of the Mekong. Overnight in Vientiane !
