Day 1: Arrival at Zvartnots International Airport

Stop At: Zvartnots International Airport, Yerevan, Armenia
After arriving in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, you first go to your city hotel, where you can move into the rooms and relax a bit. Welcome at the airport by an English-speaking guide on site.

Day 2: Yerevan

Stop At: Republic Square, Yerevan 0001 Armenia
Today we explore the Armenian capital, which is one of the oldest capitals in the world, located in the shadow of the biblical Ararat mountain: the Republic square, Cascade, Opera house. A nice walk in the heart of the city. Under the architect Alexander Tamanyan, old stonemasonry traditions awakened and the Republic Square became the model window of a new, self-confident country. We continue to the impressive Cascade - which forms the heart of the city. From here there opens a panoramic view on the city with Mount Ararat against the background.

Day 3: Yerevan-Saghmosavank

Stop At: Saghmosavank Monastery, Artashavan 0211 Armenia
Acclimatization bike tour to the Psalm monastery - Saghmosavank monastery - picturesquely situated in the Qasagh gorge. We enjoy the wonderful views of the Ararat. The monastery dates from the 13th century, where the psalms were once written.

Day 4: Aragats - Aparan - Vanadzor

Stop At: Kasagh Basilica, Marshal Baghramyan St, Aparan Armenia
We visit Aparan one of the oldest cities in Armenia (2nd century) and its famous basilica (4th century). Here we have a nice opportunity to have a conversation with the priest. The Spitak Pass leads over a gently grazed plateau with Yazidi villages through the cities of Spitak and Vanadzor, which were greatly affected by the 1988 earthquake.

Day 5: Vanadzor - Stepanavan

Stop At: Stepanavan Sochut Dendropark, v. Jrvezh Reserve Park Complex State Non-Commercial Organization, Stepanavan 0089 Armenia
Our first bike stage leads through a forested hilly landscape. The city of Stepanavan is particularly known for its famous Dendropark with numerous endemic Caucasian plants and trees. This is the first botanical garden in Armenia, founded in 1931 and home to a large variety of plants, deciduous forest and ornamental plants.

Day 6: Stepanavan-Haghpat

Stop At: Odzun Church, Off H-35 & M-6, Odzun, Alaverdi Armenia
In the richest forest area of Armenia with its inaccessible villages, the most important monasteries and educational institutions of the Middle Ages are hidden. Visit to the 6th century dome basilica Odzun.

On a high plateau with a wonderful view, we move to Haghpat Monastery located in a fantastically beautiful place.

Day 7: Haghpat - Ijevan

Stop At: Ijevan, Ijevan, Tavush Province
A wonderful drive to the city of Ijevan. We drive through the green oases with the great panorama of Armenian Alps. Mountains and mountains over 3,000 m high accompany us all the time.

Day 8: Ijevan - Goshavank Monastery

Stop At: Dilijan, Dilijan, Tavush Province
We stroll early through the market in Ijevan, then continue through a densely wooded hilly landscape to the Goshavank monastery complex (12th century). Visit to the beautiful monasteries of Goshavank and Haghartsin from the 12th century. Here too we enjoy the beauty of the Armenian cross stones. The stage ends in Dilijan, a small health resort in the middle of a densely forested nature reserve. Here you can find very nice examples of traditional Armenian wooden house architecture.

Day 9: Dilijan - Tsapatagh

Stop At: Monastery Sevanavank, next the Holy Mother of God Church, Sevan Armenia
Today's bike stage leads through Chambarak to Lake Sevan. In contrast to the lush greenery around Dilijan, the mountains become bare - we reach an impressive steppe-like landscape around Lake Sevan at 1,900 m. Its cool, turquoise blue water invites you to take a bath in summer. Beach and water migratory birds take a break here on the long spring and autumn walks. On the Sevan Peninsula, which was originally an island and only emerged in the 20th century due to the sinking water level, we visit the Sevan Monastery, which dates from the 9th century.

Day 10: Tsapatagh โ€“ Martuni

Stop At: Martuni, Martuni, Lake Sevan, Gegharkunik Province
We continue to circle Lake Sevan by bike. We drive through a great, lonely landscape; on the left a mighty mountain range behind which the Azerbaijani border runs, on the right the silvery lake. The road sometimes turns into a piste. On the way we can swim and picnic in the summer. Not far from the village of Tsovinar, we climb the Urartian fortress Teischeba-Ura and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake.

Day 11: Martuni โ€“ Yeghegnadzor

Stop At: Yeghegnadzor, Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor Province
We leave our lake, there are many switchbacks through a barren steppe-like landscape 25 km uphill, over the Selim Pass. Above we visit a caravanserai from the 14th century. At an altitude of 2,410 m, we enjoy the mostly unobstructed view of Ararat. A route of the old Silk Road also ran here. Spectacular descent to Yeghegnadzor.

Day 12: Yeghegnadzor - Garni โ€“ Yerevan

Stop At: Yerevan, Yerevan
Drive to Vayots Dzor province. Winegrowing in this region goes back to the 3rd millennium BC. BC back. Wine barrels with traces of wine from this period were found in a cave in the province. The endemic Areni grape grows here, from which the well-known red wine โ€œAreniโ€ is made. Visit to the Noravank Monastery, located at the end of the beautiful Amaghu Gorge, which impresses with its special external reliefs and is hardly distinguishable from its rocky surroundings due to its reddish facade when the sun sets.
Drive to Garni, which was the summer residence of the Armenian kings and is famous for the only Hellenistic temple (1st century) that has been preserved in the Caucasus. Continuation to Geghard: Visit to the cave monastery at the end of a gorge, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Armenia. Continuation to Yerevan.
