So together we can plan your private safari with confidence and peace of mind. Current situation in Tanzania Tanzania no longer requires travelers to show proof of the COVID-19 vaccination. However, Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate and the government of Tanzania strongly advise all travelers to be fully vaccinated, including booster doses, against COVID-19 as a precaution. Travelers do not need proof of a negative COVID-19 test to enter Tanzania. However, we strongly recommend obtaining a COVID-19 test prior to departure as a precaution. Please check the COVID-19 entry requirements of the countries you are transiting through or have a layover in. Other countries may require proof of COVID-19 vaccination records upon entry and/or proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Inform your trip manager of any other destinations you are visiting immediately before or after Tanzania, and let them know what type of COVID test your itinerary requires, as additional services or overnights in Tanzania may be necessary. COVID-19 TESTING IN TANZANIA ARRIVAL Some travelers entering Tanzania may be subject to enhanced screening for COVID-19, including a rapid test at the airport. a)Results are available in about 15 minutes. b)The cost is $10 - $25 USD cash DEPARTURES Before departing Tanzania, there are currently no testing requirements for those returning directly to the US. Please notify us if you are transiting through or traveling to a country that requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to arrival. As long as we know your plans in advance, Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate will assist with any pre-flight testing. โ€œWe always felt very safe, despite the current Corona epidemic.โ€ TESTING COSTS Pricing for PCR and rapid testing is determined by the Tanzanian government, with small administrative fees added by local providers. Receipts are generated only at the time results are received. Your guide will provide the most up to date pricing information, and a receipt is issued AFTER the test is performed. During your safari a)You will be accompanied by your own private guide from the start till the end of the journey. b)We are proud to announce that currently almost all our guides and office staff are now fully vaccinated. Accommodations a)The lodges and tented camps during your journey are carefully selected by us: small-scale, personal, located in the most remote and stunning places in the middle of nature. b)Meals are generally taken outdoors or in a mess tent with lots of ventilation and ample space between the tables. Lodges may reduce the capacity even further by offering different locations to serve your meal. c)All guest areas and rooms will be sanitized regularly. d)Bed linen is washed at 60ยบ degrees temperature. e)Restaurants will offer a la carte menus or active cooking to reduce the handling of food. f)Some facilities in your room may have been removed, such as the coffee station or hair dryer. Sure, seeing the animals of the Big Five is undoubtedly the motivating factor for many visitors, but there is a wealth of options available to visitors who want something a little different. โ€ขHot air balloon and champagne breakfast While morning and evening game drives offer fantastic game-viewing opportunities for visitors to the Serengeti, taking to the skies for a dawn hot air balloon safari is an unforgettable way to see the park. After a visually spectacular tour over the savannah, youโ€™ll alight in the wilderness for a delicious champagne breakfast. โ€ขWalking Safari Without predators such as leopards and lions, Arusha National Park is an excellent place for walking safaris. Guided by a local ranger, visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the park to a picturesque waterfall. Along the way you can expect to see animals such as black and white colobus monkeys, giraffes, baboons, and more. โ€ขMasai Boma Visit The iconic Masai are omnipresent in and around the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and a visit to one of their traditional villages is a thrilling cultural excursion. Visitors will get a chance to meet locals and learn about banana beer, Makonde woodcarvings, and the tribal painting techniques; the village provides a great introduction to everyday life in Africa. โ€ขMount Meru Arusha sits at the foot of Mount Meru, the confident and handsome brother to often shy Kilimanjaro. If climbing Kilimanjaro is your goal, Mount Meru is often recommended as a good training hike โ€“ and offers an amazing view of both the city and Kilimanjaro to those who make it to the top. โ€ขMarangu Village Tour The nearby village of Marangu offers a variety of cultural activities for those wanting to see something beyond the usual tourist attractions. -Airline tickets; (international and domestic flights), are not included Arrival: If you are arriving at either Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, then airport transfers to and from those airports are included in your trip, we strongly suggest you to email your flight ticket to your Tour Agent / Tour Consultant so we can arrange your transfers accordingly. Our office driver will display your name on a Kilimanjaro Trekking Mate signboard. These procedures ensure that you are picked up by the correct driver at the Airport. Visa Requirements: Make sure that you have a valid passport whose expiry date is sufficient for you to be allowed to enter Tanzania. (Usually, the expiry date must be at least six months from the date of travel, for tourists, and longer for business travelers. With the exception of those travelling from certain African countries (and a few other countries), all visitors to Tanzania must have a valid visa. It is the responsibility of travelers to arrange this. Visas are best arranged in advance. If you are arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, without having arranged a visa in advance, please follow the procedure outlined below, to ensure that you get the correct visa and meet up with your driver-guide outside the arrival door: 1.Complete the visa request form (either on the ๏ฌ‚ight or on arrival). 2.Join the queue for one of the visa counters โ€“ please donโ€™t let yourself be assisted by anybody at the airport or be persuaded to give your visa money to anyone apart from the staff at the counter. 3.Pay for the visa โ€“ USD 100 per person for US nationals and USD 50 per person for nationals of other countries (visa fees are payable in cash ONLY and US bills should not be older than 2006). 4.Make sure that you get a receipt for this transaction โ€“ the receipt is yellowish- orange color with a silver seal sticker. 5.Verify that the number on the receipt is the same as the one written on top of the visa stamp on your passport. 6.Queue up for your ๏ฌngerprints and passport. 7.Collect your luggage and leave by the exit. 8.Outside the exit door you will see our driver guide holding the โ€˜Kilimanjaro Trekking Mateโ€™ signboard.

      Morning Head off for Tarangire National Park, where ancient baobab trees tower over some of the largest herds of elephants in all of Africa. Keep a lookout for the hundreds of bird species Tarangire is known forโ€”and dramatic interactions between predator and prey at the parkโ€™s watering holes. Late evening, we exit the park and drive to Mto wa Mbu near Lake Manyara /Karatu, dinner and stay overnightt at Marera Valley Lodge

      After breakfast, we will set off for Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch, and game drives en route, afternoon game in Serengeti Central Part.

      Tanzaniaโ€™s oldest and most popular national park. A UNESCO world heritage site and recently proclaimed the 7th wonder of the world, Serengeti is famed for its annual migration where some six million hooves pound the open plains. Serengeti offers an exotic game viewing experience in the whole of Africa giving you an up-close look of the animals youโ€™ve only seen in National Geographic: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grantโ€™s gazelle.

      Dinner and stay overnight at Embalakai tented lodge.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Serengeti National Park

      We have another exciting day of exploring the Serengeti National Park ahead of us. 

      With lunch boxes provided we continue with game drives throughout the afternoon, scanning the endless plains, spotting many animals and truly realizing just why this national park is so famous. In the late afternoon we drive back to our Tented lodge for dinner and overnight. 

      Thereโ€™s an option of doing a Hot Air Balloon at this area for additional cost.


  • Day 5 Day 5: Serengeti National Park To Ngorongoro Crater.

      Day 5: Serengeti National Park To Ngorongoro Crater.

      After breakfast you will spend your morning today continuing to explore the central Serengeti plains. Towards the early afternoon you will start your journey back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and spend your night inside of the Conservation area near the crater rim.

      Dinner and stay overnight at Ngorongoro wildlife lodge.

      Today we descend into Ngorongoro Crater (fully day) to explore the panoramic, game-rich prairies of this ancient volcanic caldera. Backdropped by crater walls nearly 2,000 feet high, Ngorongoro offers the safari experience of a lifetime in a setting unmatched the world over. Observe profuse and diverse wildlife roaming freely in an authentic โ€œLost World,โ€ where itโ€™s possible to encounter every member of the Big Five in a single day. Afternoon, enjoy lunch al fresco in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch we proceed with a game drive, evening we depart the crater ascend the walls of the Crater climbing up to the rim, we exit the park and drive to karatu, dinner and stay overnight at Marera Valley Lodge

  • Day 7 Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park.

      Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park.

      Morning after breakfast we depart from your lodge and proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. Although small in size, this park is one of the most diverse reserves in the country. Lake Manyara covers two-thirds of the park. At the backdrop is the wall of the Great Rift Valley, before which lies the ground water forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and the Soda Lake. We enjoy a picnic lunch in this area, which consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise that has more than 350 species of bird. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree-climbing lions. After the game drive, afternoon we exit the park and begin our drive back to Moshi/ Arusha to your hotel.
