Day 3: Yerevan - Garni - Geghard - Yerevan

Stop At: Garni Temple, Geghard Monastery Road H3, Garni Armenia
Garni and Geghard are usually combined into one excursion as they are geographically close together; however, in style they couldnโ€™t be more different. Garni is the more unusual, an Ionic Greco-Roman pagan temple initially constructed in the 1st century AD but restored in the 1970s after a 17th century earthquake left it in ruins.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: The Monastery of Geghard, Near Goght Village, Geghard Armenia
Geghard is a UNESCO-listed monastery which was founded by Gregory the Illuminator in the 4th century. What you see today dates from the early 14th century but the spring that you can visit is the original sacred spring in Gregoryโ€™s cave. After our visits, weโ€™ll drive back to the city and the rest of the day is yours to explore on your own.
Duration: 2 hours

Meals included:
โ€ข Breakfast
โ€ข Dinner
Accommodation included: Overnight in a hotel. Our packages include 3* and 4* hotel options.

Day 4: Yerevan - Khor Virap - Noravank - Areni - Yerevan

Stop At: Khor Virap, Highway 11 - Near the village of Pokr Vedi Artashat, Lusarat 0612 Armenia
Khor Virapโ€™s location is pretty special - located very close to the Turkish border you often have wonderful views of Mount Ararat in the distance. The monastery is photogenic in its own right and fascinating to inspect close up.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Noravank Monastery, NoravankMonastery Road Amaghu Valley, Areni 3604 Armenia
Noravank Monasteryโ€™s location if anything is even more fantastic. Approach along a narrow canyon and this religious complex appears, famed for its carvings of Jesus with Peter and Paul. Steep steps run up the outside of the church above its door and the views from the first floor, if you can handle the ascent, are incredible.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Areni Wine Factory, Areni Armenia
Last stop today is at Areni, where weโ€™ll taste local wines at a popular winery.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 5: Yerevan - Sevan - Dilijan

Stop At: Monastery Sevanavank, next the Holy Mother of God Church, Sevan Armenia
Weโ€™ll take an excursion out of Yerevan to visit Armeniaโ€™s most beautiful lake. Sevanavank Monastery is located on a hilltop and from it there are breathtaking panoramic views of the lake. In the churchyard, take a look at the intricately carved stones, known as khatchkhars.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Dilijan, Dilijan, Tavush Province
Weโ€™ll drive to the nearby spa town of Dilijan, where we can visit the Geological Museum and Art Gallery which displays archaeological pieces and works of art. There are also plenty of craft workshops in town where you can pick up a souvenir or two.
Duration: 2 hours

Meals included:
โ€ข Breakfast
โ€ข Dinner
Accommodation included: Overnight in a hotel. Our packages include 3* and 4* hotel options.

Day 6: Dilijan - Haghpat - Sanahin - Lermontovo - Goshavank - Dilijan

Stop At: Haghpat Monastery, next to Saint Nshan Church, Haghpat 1722 Armenia
Haghpat is a mediaeval complex largely completed in the 9th century. Grey stone is topped with terracotta roof tiles, but itโ€™s the floor thatโ€™s most interesting - the holes in it were originally designed to keep wine cool.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Monastery of Sanahin, Alaverdi 1705 Armenia
Sanahin is Haghpatโ€™s twin; its name means โ€œolder than that oneโ€. The floor of the cavernous interior is covered with tombstones, though itโ€™s considered good luck to step on them as itโ€™s thought doing so will free the dead of their sins.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Lermontovo, Lermontovo, Lori Province
Weโ€™ll head to the village of Lermontovo, named after the Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov, whoโ€™s often called "the poet of the Caucasus".
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Goshavank Monastery, 15 km of Dilijan, Gosh Armenia
Our final stop is at the 12th century monastery of Goshavank before we return to Dilijan for dinner.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 7: Dilijan - Noratus - Selim Pass - Jermuk

Stop At: Noratus Cemetery, Noratus Armenia
Itโ€™s time to depart Dilijan this morning and our first stop is at Noratus Cemetery. This mediaeval graveyard has the largest concentration of khatchkhars in the entire country. Large and small, embellished with carvings of crosses and weathered with moss and lichen, they are fascinating to explore. Legend has it that when Tamerlane planned an attack, locals placed helmets on top and propped swords up to make them appear like soldiers from a distance.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Vardenyats Pass (Selim Pass), M10 Highway, Geghhovit Armenia
We will cross the Selim Pass, calling in at the 14th century Orbelian's Caravanserai and head for Jermuk.
Duration: 30 minutes

Pass By: Jermuk, Jermuk, Vayots Dzor Province
This attractive mountain spa town is our base for the next two nights.

Meals included:
โ€ข Breakfast
โ€ข Dinner
Accommodation included: Overnight in a hotel. Our packages include 3* and 4* hotel options.

Day 8: Jermuk - Tatev - Goris - Khndzoresk Caves - Jermuk

Stop At: Tatev, Tatev, Syunik Province
Continuing on, Tatev is our destination today. This hilltop monastery is reached via a flight on the Wings of Tatev, the worldโ€™s longest cable car. The journey across the valley is spectacular and the monasteryโ€™s remoteness is reinforced as you approach. In the complex itself, seek out a column tucked away in one of the courtyards which historically has helped to predict earthquakes and approaching enemy armies.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Goris, Goris, Syunik Province
Departing Tatev, weโ€™ll soon reach the town of Goris from where we visit the nearby Khndzoresk Caves. Until relatively recently, these caves were inhabited. Once weโ€™ve had a good look weโ€™ll set off back to Jermuk.
