Your day begins with breakfast, on this day you have free time on this magical island considered by many to be the lost continent of Atlantis to discover it at your own pace.
The name of the island is a distortion of the name that Venetian merchants gave it in the Middle Ages. They called her Santa Irene, because she was the patron saint of the island.
In 1576 Santorini became part of the Duchy of Naxos, until the Turkish conquest of Piyale Pasha.
If you wish, you can add any of the following additional excursions to visit the Volcanoes in the Caldera (see the extras tab).
Option 1: Volcano-Hot Springs-Thirassia
Available if you travel from April 1st to November 5th.
Sail to the volcanic islands of the Santorini caldera region. Swim in hot springs, admire views from an active volcano and explore the typical village of Thirassia.
Sail around the volcanic islands of the Santorini Caldera on a unique traditional Greek boat. First, you will sail to the lava islet of Nea Kameni. You will walk guided by an ascending path until you reach its summit where the crater of the still active volcano is located. You will enjoy incredible views of Santorini from a different angle.
You will return to the boat and continue to the second lava islet called Palea Kameni, also known as Hot Springs. You can jump off the boat and soak in green sulfur hot springs.
The next stop is to the traditional island of Thirassia, where you will enjoy free time. You can relax in the small and picturesque port of Thirassia, have lunch or visit the village of Manolas (not included), which is accessed by a spiral staircase, either walking or riding a donkey (we do not recommend riding a donkey as we do not promote use of animals for tourism activities, however this option is available at the destination).
Round-trip transfers from Athinios port (not from the hotel) and local Spanish-speaking guide included. Food, drinks and tickets to the volcano are not included and can only be paid at the destination, approximate cost โฌ5.
Option 2: Volcano-Hot springs-Thirassia, sunset in Oia
Available from May 15 to September 30.
The tour is the same as the previous one, however after visiting Thirassia this option includes an afternoon transfer to Oia to enjoy free time and see the iconic sunset. The tour will end after sunset.
Round-trip transfers from Athinios port (not from the hotel) and local Spanish-speaking guide included. Food, drinks and tickets to the volcano are not included and can only be paid at the destination, approximate cost โฌ5.
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel Iliada 3 stars or similar, (Double Room)
Note: The itinerary times are approximate. This day you can add only one of the extra tours mentioned above, they are the same except that one includes transfers to Oia to see the sunset.
