Day 1: 3 Days Volta Region Tour
Stop At: Amedzofe, Amedzofe, Volta Region
Depart early in the morning for the Volta Region. Stop over at Tafi Atome for friendly interaction with the Mona monkeys in the village continue to the Amedzofe for the mountain view and take a trip to the water fall and later in the evening have interaction with the tradition ruler and his elders at the palace.

Stop At: Wli Waterfalls, Hohoe Ghana
Leave guest house by 8:30am to the Wli water falls and spend the day at the pool. Wli water falls is the highest fall in West Africa. It takes 45 minutes walk through the virgin forest to get to the fall. Its pool is clean offering visitors good opportunity to swim or sit around for their panics and lunch.

Depart early in the morning to Ho and check in at your hotel and take off some minutes about 40 minutes for a snack. Leave hotel for Kpetoe, the kente village in the Volta Region where you can observe the process of local cloth weaving. Arrive back from Kpetoe to Ho and take a walk through the Ho market to observe the local food stuff on sale try learning their names at its raw form. Check back at your hotel, enjoy the evening by sitting at the foothill where your hotel is situated.

Day 2: Accra City Tour
Stop At: Accra, Accra, Greater Accra
Visit the old British Accra, James Town and Usher Town, an interesting area to explore on foot. Visit the old fishing harbour and climb the Jamestown Lighthouse and continue to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial park which is the final resting place of Ghana first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.Continue through the Independence Square to connect through Osu Oxford street for a guided tour at the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre. The museum is dedicated to the memory of Du Bois, a prominent American pan-Africanist of the 20th century.
Optionally, visit a Ga coffin workshop in Nungua, where you can observe the coffins which are designed to represent an aspect of the dead personโs life. Or, visit the Weild Geco Gallery, where authentic traditional arts and craftwork is displayed and sold.

Take a day to visit Ada which is at the estuary of the Volta river. The Estuary is linked with sixteen Islands. To visit any of the Islands, one need to hire a dug-out canoe or ferry-canoe as a day trip, very interesting and picturesque Islands.
You would arrive in the rural community to undertake a guided walk through the communities, where most houses are built of termite clay with thatched roofing or coconut roofing and the daily life of the communities is very much centered on the river. Experience livelihood activities which are common with the people such as basket weaving, fishing, farming, cooking, or a visit to the fetish priest.
Return to Ada and drive to Atimpoku, check into your hotel, late lunch and finally take some time off to relax at the bank of the volta lake, the man-made lake and the longest in the world.

Leave Accra for the Dodowa forest to visit the water falls. We shall enjoy the 20 minutes hike through the forest to get to the fall. Dodowa forest has lots of legendary attach and it is always exciting to walk through. After the fall, we shall continue to Aburi botanical garden founded by the British. The garden served as a sanatorium for the colonial officials in Accra since 1875 till Ghana got Independence in 1957. Nowadays, it is a serene place where anybody visiting the garden can find impressive variety of tropical trees. After, strolling in the garden, relax and take a package lunch or drive to Hillbury where you can ask for lunch at the restaurant and also use the swimming pool. We shall stop at the wood carvers gallery where you can pick a souvenir.

This is a day visit for those who love beads and will like to learn how to make beads fro broken bottles and other local materials. We shall visit the beads college where we shall be given a demonstration on beads making. There is always an opportunity to buy some locally made beads from the shop at the college. We shall leave Odumase for Nsawam for brief visit to the honey making center at Dobro-Nsawam. A self helped project by a family. We shall be taken round some of the hives and then visit the honey shop where we may purchase pure local honey at a reasonable price. Our day shall end at the Blue Skies juice bar where we can treat ourselves to a tropical natural pineapple, orange, mango, pawpaw, lime and sugarcane juices etc.

Day 3: Aburi Botannical Garden /Accra
Stop At: New Tafo Akyem, New Tafo Akyem, Eastern Region
Depart Akosombo early morning and pass by Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region where a traditional beads making Institute is helping the local people to make a living by learning to support themselves through beads making. Meet the owner and Director of the Institute Mr.Cedis to take group through beads making from the scratch to the finish. Visit the Institute beads shop to purchase some already made beads from Cedis Beads. Continue to Tafo in the Eastern Region to the Cocoa Institute at Tafo to have a tour and demonstration on how cocoa is grown, harvested and made into chocolate, vinegar, wine, soap, cocoa butter etc.

Stop At: Cape Coast Castle, Cape Coast Ghana
Depart Eastern Region for the Central Region, visit the Cape Coast castle for a guided tour which shall be conducted by a seasoned tour guide relating the history of the slave trade in detail. We shall have the opportunity to know the reasons for the slave trade, the castles and forts dotted along the Atlantic ocean and its effects on the generation of today. We shall take a time off to the Elmina Castle through the University Of Cape Coast for photograph of the castle but not a tour.

Day 4: Kakum National Park
Stop At: Kakum National Park, Cape Coast Ghana
Leave hotel as early as possible for the Kakum National Park, a tropical forest reserve with a canopy walkway which is 350 meters long and suspended between seven tree tops. Undertake a guided forest walk and enjoy the canopy walkway.
There are various highlights around Elmina which are worth visiting. Undertake a guided walk through Elmina. Discover Fort St. Jago and the fishing harbour and market.
Enjoy your dinner very close to the Atlantic ocean where your table will be set for an African dance performance in the evening for your evening enjoyment.

Stop At: Assin Manso, Assin Manso, Central Region
In the morning after breakfast, leave for the Central Region which is the Ghana's coastal region. Stop for a visit to the slave monument and ancestral graveyard at Assin-Manso which is on the way to Cape Coast. This town was the final place of stop for all slaves that were on slave trail to Cape Coast, where they were auctioned to be carried as cargoes to the so called New world under horrific circumstances. The slave are normally bathed in a river at Assin Manso and that river is still standing today. The slaves are sold in this town at the public market and auctioned at the trade hall at the castle to their final slave masters.
Continue to visit the Cape Coast Castle and Museum, to learn more about the history of slave trade. The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has the reputation to be one of the largest former slave-holding sites in the world. Built in 1653 as a wooden structure initially, the fort has changed hand many times โ it was built by the Swedes, taken over temporary by the Danish and finally the Dutch handed it over to the British who reinforced, rebuilt, and expanded it in 1665.
Continue a resort and relax at the beach in the afternoon, or walk along-side the beach where you see the fishermen at work.The Atlantic sea offers a beautiful beach to relax at Biriwa beach resort.

En route the Eastern Regional capital Koforidua through the Akuapim mountain range, we shall stop at the cocoa Institute at New Tafo where you shall be given a guided tour at the Institute cocoa farm and later the Institute tour guide takes you through the process of getting a final product from cocoa bean and finally how the cocoa beans are processed into various product we get get on the market such as chocolate, vinegar, wine, alkaline, soap body cream and many others. Cocoa bean seem to have an endless uses apart from chocolate and body cream that is well known by everybody.
Continue to Bunso Arboretum tropical gardens, which is set amidst lushly vegetated hills. The arboretum offers a 45-minute guided walk, where you can learn about the tropical plants, timbers and herbs, as well as birds and butterflies. One of their latest additions is the canopy. Continue to Kumasi and overnight.

Day 5: Kumasi City

Depart Cape Coast for Kumasi after breakfast for a guided tour at the Manhyia Palace and continue to the National Cultural Centre to visit the craft market and the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, which offer a good overview of the Ashanti history.

The villages are relatively touristy however, play an important part in the understanding of the Ashanti cultural and heritage. Contrary to kente being worn on days of joy, adinkra is a traditional cloth printed with local symbols and with local dye worn on funeral days.

Day 6: Weatern Region Ghana

โขTake a canoe trip at the Amansuri Lagoon and visit the extra-ordinary stilt village Nzulezo. Nzulezu is one of Ghanaโs most visited tourist attractions and a unique village in the whole of West Africa. What makes it unique is that the whole village is on stilts and the people live on a lake. The spectacular scenery of the 400-year old stilt propped water settlement of Nzulezu, built on Lake Tadane in the Western Region, stands out as a magnificent interplay between man and his environment. Nzulezu is an Nzema word meaning โsurface of waterโ. The inhabitants of the village are said to have migrated from Walata, a city in the ancient Ghana Empire, the earliest of the Western Sudanese States. According to tradition, ancestors of the village were brought to their present place by a snail. The serene ambiance of the surrounding landscape, coupled with the general activities of life on stilts points to a dynamic relationship between man and nature. Traditional village life is adapted to the unique environmental conditions, and all activities such as the pounding of fufu (a traditional meal), schooling, worship, baptisms and burials are carried out on the lake. It is said that the lake averts possible disasters such as fire outbreaks.The people of Nzulezu still adhere to traditional norms and taboos. For instance, Thursday is a sacred day on the lake, and on this day, the villagers do not engage in any strenuous activity.

Day 9: Cotonou Benin
Stop At: Ganvie, Ganvie, Atlantique Department
After breakfast, continue to Ganviรฉ by motorized canoe, an amazing town built on stilts in the middle of Lac Noukouรฉ. Roughly 40.000 people of the Tofinu tribe are living here, and it is one of the last surviving stilt villages that date back some 400 years. At that time, the Tofinu people built these villages to escape Dahomey slave hunters who were banned from venturing into water by religious customs. The Tonifu live almost exclusively from fishing and it is an extra-ordinary experience to spend the night on the surface of the lake.
Enjoy a guided boat tour in the village and continue to Porto Novo, the former capital of the French Dahomey colony in the 19th century, which is still the administrative capital of Benin today. However, this is hard to believe if you compare the tranquil atmosphere with the overcrowded and hectic city of for example Cotonou.
You will spend the night at the Songhai Centre, an innovative educational center for tropical agriculture. The center is beautifully situated in the green surrounds and compromises agricultural fields, small stock farms and many fish ponds.

: Porto-Novo - Kรฉtou โ Abomey (4-5 hours)
Undertake an early-morning walk through the lush garden and training center for the production, research and development of sustainable agricultural practices. Guided by one of the students of the center, you will be introduced to the small-scale farming practices such as large-scale composting, fish cultivation, snail farming and animal husbandry.
An interesting highlight is the Porto-Novo Museum of Ethnography, one of the best in the country, which gives you an interesting insight on the Yoruba culture. Porto-Novo, together with Ouidah, was one of the main places were slave ships departed from, and where many slaves returned to after emancipation. They brought back the Afro-Brazilian culture which you experience in the architecture, museum and food(crops).
Optionally, take the longer route through Kรฉtou. This predominantly Yoruba town has a rich spiritual history involving the Nigerian Kingdom of Oyo and Orisha, the Yoruba form of voodoo. The main highlights in this town are of spiritual nature, like the scared garbage pile, the Aitan Ola, and the sacred door of Akaba Idenan. It is possible to have an audience with the king of Kรฉtou who welcomes you in his Royal Palace.
โข Continue to Abomey, the ancient capital of the Dahomey Empire and known for its famous and historically significant traditional sites such as the Royal Palace and Museum (a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site), where every new king added his own residence, resulting in twelve palaces in the empire at its peak. Currently, only two of them remain.

Visit the Royal Palace in Abomey in the morning and continue to Possotomรฉ. Possotomรฉ is a village alongside the lake Ahรฉmรจ, where you are able to observe the day-to-day activities of the villagers. Enjoy some fascinating landscapes along the way and observe the living voodoo culture in the small villages lining the coastal highway.
Spend the afternoon in Possotomรฉ and undertake a guided walk along-side the lake, the villages and sacred forest. The villages in this area are known for their vibrant voodoo culture. Experience how local people worship their traditional gods and observe the role of the voodoo culture in the daily life of ordinary people.
If desired, attend a Zangbeto dance/ ceremony in the evening. The Zangbeto mask dance is an important performance which guarantees the protection against bad spirits and malicious people (please discuss with the driver in advance).

Continue to Ouidah, a town with a rich history which is also known as the 'voodoo capital of Benin'. Make a stop at the pottery village Se, where you meet hard-working women producing wonderful clay pottery.
Ouidah offers a wide range of interesting places to visit. The 'Route des Enclaves' is one of the historical highlights remembering the thought-provoking history of slave trade and is a 3.5 km sandy road which formed the final stage of the route before the slaves were shipped to the Americas. Other places worthwhile to visit are the Point of No Return Memorial, the History Museum (located in the Fortaleza Sรฃo Joรฃo Batista) and beautiful restored House of Brazil, which show casts changing art exhibitions. Other related highlights are the Python Temple, where you find the harmless python snakes which are used in voodoo ceremonies, and the Sacred Forest of Kpassรฉ, where you can hear the great stories on the trees. In addition, you will find sculptures that symbolize voodoo and animist deities and beliefs.

In the morning after breakfast, leave for the Central Region which is the Ghana's coastal region. Stop for a visit to the slave monument and ancestral graveyard at Assin-Manso which is on the way to Cape Coast. This town was the final place of stop for all slaves that were on slave trail to Cape Coast, where they were auctioned to be carried as cargoes to the so called New world under horrific circumstances. The slave are normally bathed in a river at Assin Manso and that river is still standing today. The slaves are sold in this town at the public market and auctioned at the trade hall at the castle to their final slave masters.
Continue to visit the Cape Coast Castle and Museum, to learn more about the history of slave trade. The castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has the reputation to be one of the largest former slave-holding sites in the world. Built in 1653 as a wooden structure initially, the fort has changed hand many times โ it was built by the Swedes, taken over temporary by the Danish and finally the Dutch handed it over to the British who reinforced, rebuilt, and expanded it in 1665.
Continue a resort and relax at the beach in the afternoon, or walk along-side the beach where you see the fishermen at work.The Atlantic sea offers a beautiful beach to relax at Biriwa beach resort.

En route the Eastern Regional capital Koforidua through the Akuapim mountain range, we shall stop at the cocoa Institute at New Tafo where you shall be given a guided tour at the Institute cocoa farm and later the Institute tour guide takes you through the process of getting a final product from cocoa bean and finally how the cocoa beans are processed into various product we get get on the market such as chocolate, vinegar, wine, alkaline, soap body cream and many others. Cocoa bean seem to have an endless uses apart from chocolate and body cream that is well known by everybody.
Continue to Bunso Arboretum tropical gardens, which is set amidst lushly vegetated hills. The arboretum offers a 45-minute guided walk, where you can learn about the tropical plants, timbers and herbs, as well as birds and butterflies. One of their latest additions is the canopy. Continue to Kumasi and overnight.

Day 5: Kumasi City

Depart Cape Coast for Kumasi after breakfast for a guided tour at the Manhyia Palace and continue to the National Cultural Centre to visit the craft market and the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, which offer a good overview of the Ashanti history.

Day 6: Weatern Region Ghana

โขTake a canoe trip at the Amansuri Lagoon and visit the extra-ordinary stilt village Nzulezo. Nzulezu is one of Ghanaโs most visited tourist attractions and a unique village in the whole of West Africa. What makes it unique is that the whole village is on stilts and the people live on a lake. The spectacular scenery of the 400-year old stilt propped water settlement of Nzulezu, built on Lake Tadane in the Western Region, stands out as a magnificent interplay between man and his environment. Nzulezu is an Nzema word meaning โsurface of waterโ. The inhabitants of the village are said to have migrated from Walata, a city in the ancient Ghana Empire, the earliest of the Western Sudanese States. According to tradition, ancestors of the village were brought to their present place by a snail. The serene ambiance of the surrounding landscape, coupled with the general activities of life on stilts points to a dynamic relationship between man and nature. Traditional village life is adapted to the unique environmental conditions, and all activities such as the pounding of fufu (a traditional meal), schooling, worship, baptisms and burials are carried out on the lake. It is said that the lake averts possible disasters such as fire outbreaks.The people of Nzulezu still adhere to traditional norms and taboos. For instance, Thursday is a sacred day on the lake, and on this day, the villagers do not engage in any strenuous activity.

Day 9: Cotonou Benin
Stop At: Ganvie, Ganvie, Atlantique Department
After breakfast, continue to Ganviรฉ by motorized canoe, an amazing town built on stilts in the middle of Lac Noukouรฉ. Roughly 40.000 people of the Tofinu tribe are living here, and it is one of the last surviving stilt villages that date back some 400 years. At that time, the Tofinu people built these villages to escape Dahomey slave hunters who were banned from venturing into water by religious customs. The Tonifu live almost exclusively from fishing and it is an extra-ordinary experience to spend the night on the surface of the lake.
Enjoy a guided boat tour in the village and continue to Porto Novo, the former capital of the French Dahomey colony in the 19th century, which is still the administrative capital of Benin today. However, this is hard to believe if you compare the tranquil atmosphere with the overcrowded and hectic city of for example Cotonou.
You will spend the night at the Songhai Centre, an innovative educational center for tropical agriculture. The center is beautifully situated in the green surrounds and compromises agricultural fields, small stock farms and many fish ponds.

: Porto-Novo - Kรฉtou โ Abomey (4-5 hours)
Undertake an early-morning walk through the lush garden and training center for the production, research and development of sustainable agricultural practices. Guided by one of the students of the center, you will be introduced to the small-scale farming practices such as large-scale composting, fish cultivation, snail farming and animal husbandry.
An interesting highlight is the Porto-Novo Museum of Ethnography, one of the best in the country, which gives you an interesting insight on the Yoruba culture. Porto-Novo, together with Ouidah, was one of the main places were slave ships departed from, and where many slaves returned to after emancipation. They brought back the Afro-Brazilian culture which you experience in the architecture, museum and food(crops).
Optionally, take the longer route through Kรฉtou. This predominantly Yoruba town has a rich spiritual history involving the Nigerian Kingdom of Oyo and Orisha, the Yoruba form of voodoo. The main highlights in this town are of spiritual nature, like the scared garbage pile, the Aitan Ola, and the sacred door of Akaba Idenan. It is possible to have an audience with the king of Kรฉtou who welcomes you in his Royal Palace.
โข Continue to Abomey, the ancient capital of the Dahomey Empire and known for its famous and historically significant traditional sites such as the Royal Palace and Museum (a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site), where every new king added his own residence, resulting in twelve palaces in the empire at its peak. Currently, only two of them remain.

Visit the Royal Palace in Abomey in the morning and continue to Possotomรฉ. Possotomรฉ is a village alongside the lake Ahรฉmรจ, where you are able to observe the day-to-day activities of the villagers. Enjoy some fascinating landscapes along the way and observe the living voodoo culture in the small villages lining the coastal highway.
Spend the afternoon in Possotomรฉ and undertake a guided walk along-side the lake, the villages and sacred forest. The villages in this area are known for their vibrant voodoo culture. Experience how local people worship their traditional gods and observe the role of the voodoo culture in the daily life of ordinary people.
If desired, attend a Zangbeto dance/ ceremony in the evening. The Zangbeto mask dance is an important performance which guarantees the protection against bad spirits and malicious people (please discuss with the driver in advance).

Continue to Ouidah, a town with a rich history which is also known as the 'voodoo capital of Benin'. Make a stop at the pottery village Se, where you meet hard-working women producing wonderful clay pottery.
Ouidah offers a wide range of interesting places to visit. The 'Route des Enclaves' is one of the historical highlights remembering the thought-provoking history of slave trade and is a 3.5 km sandy road which formed the final stage of the route before the slaves were shipped to the Americas. Other places worthwhile to visit are the Point of No Return Memorial, the History Museum (located in the Fortaleza Sรฃo Joรฃo Batista) and beautiful restored House of Brazil, which show casts changing art exhibitions. Other related highlights are the Python Temple, where you find the harmless python snakes which are used in voodoo ceremonies, and the Sacred Forest of Kpassรฉ, where you can hear the great stories on the trees. In addition, you will find sculptures that symbolize voodoo and animist deities and beliefs.

Visit some more of the highlights of Ouidah in the morning. Return to Cotonou, undertake some souvenir shopping and prepare for departure.

Day 10: Accra City Tour
Stop At: Centre for National Culture, Accra, 28th February Road, High Street, Accra Ghana
Visit some of the highlights in Accra like the old colonial neighbourhoods James Town and Usher Town, an interesting area to explore on foot. Visit the old fishing harbour and climb the Jamestown Lighthouse and optionally wander around the Mokola Market (with some extra guides). Continue your way to the Independence Square and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the final resting place of the first president of Ghana.
Drive through the Osu Oxford street and connect to the Ga coffin workshop in Nungua, where you can observe the coffins which are designed to represent an aspect of the dead personโs life. Or, visit the Artist Alliance Gallery, where traditional arts craftwork is displayed.
