We will start this extraordinary tour with a warm welcome and seamless pickup from either the airport or your hotel. Our journey begins as we head towards the Capitanía port, offering you the chance to take in the panoramic views of Puerto Maldonado, celebrated as the biodiversity capital of Peru.

Are you a fan of riverboat journeys? Upon reaching the port, we will embark on a scenic boat ride along the Madre de Dios River, covering a distance of approximately 30 km to arrive at our charming lodge. Prepare your camera, as you will have the opportunity to marvel at the vibrant local flora and fauna, including the striking Heliconia plants and the potential sighting of wildlife such as capybaras, caimans, aquatic turtles, herons, cormorants, and a variety of other birds.

Upon arrival at Eco Amazonia Lodge, you will be welcomed to your accommodation and enjoy a delicious lunch, providing the perfect recharge for the afternoon’s activities.

In the afternoon, we will take a guided walk to Cocha Caimán. For those who appreciate nature walks, this interpretive trail is a delightful opportunity to explore. At Cocha Caimán, you will have the chance to observe the impressive black and white caimans in their natural habitat, known for their role as efficient predators in the aquatic ecosystem.

After an enriching day of exploration, we will return to the lodge for a delightful dinner.

For your leisure, the lodge features a bar and a game room, where you can relax and enjoy the evening while being serenaded by the enchanting sounds of the nocturnal wildlife.

Our day begins with the gentle calls of the howler monkeys, setting the tone for an exhilarating day in the heart of the Amazon. After enjoying a traditional breakfast at our lodge, featuring local ingredients and flavors, we will set out for a day of exploration.

Our journey starts with a guided trek through the lush rainforest. The trail is well-marked and maintained, providing a safe path as we venture into the depths of the forest. We will navigate through elevated forests and descend into flooded woodlands, leading us to the picturesque Lago Apu Victor.

At Lago Apu Victor, we will be greeted by expansive wetlands and towering trees. This site features an Amazonian viewpoint—an impressive observation platform that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and its surroundings. From this vantage point, you may spot a variety of wildlife, including colorful parrots, vibrant macaws, toucans, camungos, shanshos, and herons. The lake is also home to caimans, turtles, and a diverse array of aquatic species.

As we explore Lago Apu Victor, we will have the opportunity to observe significant tree species such as aguaje, mahogany, Brazil nut, catahua, cedar, cético, copaiba, and shihuahuaco, which play crucial roles in the ecosystem.

In the afternoon, we will embark on a short trek to Isla de Los Monos (Monkey Island). This enchanting location is renowned for its rich flora and abundant primate species. As we explore the island, we may encounter various monkeys such as the maquisapa, capuchin, friar, and leoncillo. The island is also home to smaller mammals like the coati (Nasua) and squirrels, as well as a vibrant collection of bird species. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture the diverse wildlife and lush scenery.

After our afternoon adventure, we will return to our lodge, where a delightful dinner will await us. Enjoy a relaxing evening as the sun sets, providing a beautiful conclusion to our day of exploration.

Exploring Cocha Perdida And Aguajales

Our day begins with a hearty breakfast at Eco Amazonia Lodge, setting us up for an exciting adventure in the Peruvian rainforest. Are you ready? We will set out to explore the depths of the jungle.

Our journey takes us to Cocha Perdida. As we walk, we will be surrounded by a rich variety of fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal trees. With a bit of luck, we may encounter various wildlife along our path, including the elusive jaguar (otorongo), sachavaca, huangana, giant river otters, capybaras, majaz, armadillos, howler monkeys, friar monkeys, iguanas, the jergón snake, toads, and an array of bird species such as the mountain turkey, partridge, golden parakeet, and vibrant macaws.

Throughout our trek, we will be accompanied by the aguajales—trees of immense importance in the rainforest, often referred to as the “tree of life” or “plant of mystery.” These trees play a vital role in the Amazonian ecosystem.

Upon reaching Cocha Perdida, we will ascend to a large observation platform offering panoramic views of this enchanting area. From here, we can observe the expansive aguajales, including dense and mixed types. As we explore around Cocha Perdida, we may be fortunate enough to spot the giant river otter, one of the most impressive and largest of its kind in the Amazon. After our exploration, we will return to our lodge for a delicious lunch to rejuvenate.

Take advantage of this free time to capture photographs of the lodge’s surroundings, visit the botanical garden, and observe the local flora and fauna. We will depart from Eco Amazonia Lodge and head back to the Capitanía port, bidding farewell to the enchanting rainforest. At the port, your transportation will be ready to take you to the airport or your hotel, ensuring a smooth and convenient departure.
