Within Lahemaa National Park, you will visit Kรคsmu village, which sits on a bog with many lakes and streams. You will also stop at fishermenโ€™s villages and historic manor estates, including Palmse Manor. This manor estate dates to the early 16th century and is considered one of the countryโ€™s most impressive examples of Baroque architecture. Besides the main house, the expansive grounds feature a greenhouse, hedgerows, gardens and a park with gazebos and a bathhouse overlooking a pond.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Lahemaa National Park โ€“ Lake Peipus - Tartu
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Lahemaa National Park โ€“ Lake Peipus - Tartu

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, and afterward, you will visit the shores of Lake Peipus. It is the fifth-largest lake in Europe and also the largest trans-boundary lake on the continent, as it shares borders with both Estonia and Russia. Beyond its natural beauty, this area has its own cultural and religious legacy. The Estonian side of the lake is home to one of the biggest Russian Orthodox Old Believers communities in Europe. Next, you will transfer to Tartu, Estoniaโ€™s second-largest city.

You will go on the guided walking tour and indulge in Tartuโ€™s young, bohemian atmosphere. After all, this city is home to Tartu University, which was established in 1632 and is the national university. The tour begins in Town Hall Square with a visit to the statue of Kissing Students. Nearby you will find St. Johnโ€™s Church with its many terracotta sculptures, and the university.

These include the iconic St. Johnโ€™s Church, a 17th-century Baptist church with a tall steeple and long spire.

In the afternoon you will arrive in Parnu, the fourth-largest city in Estonia located on the west coast. This is a popular summertime retreat for Estonians with its long, sandy beach and resort-like accommodations.
