As we embark on our journey out to the middle of Lake Arenal, you will be blown away by all of the natural beauty of Volcano Arenal. The mountains that surround the lake are different shades of green, as some are in the foreground while the others fade into the distance. At first, the Arenal Volcano seems like it is hidden behind mountains, but if you get to a certain part in the lake you have reached the sweet spot โ€“ a spot where you can see the detailed textures of its rock formation and where passing in front of it can make you feel tiny. When you reach the middle of the lake, your guide will give you plenty of safety instructions and plunk your board into the water. RECOMMENDED AGES: 8-85 years DURATION: 2.5 hours WHAT TO BRING: Sun block, Swimming suit, Towel, Eyeglass straps or contact lenses, T-shirt and shorts to get wet in DEPARTS: 8:00am, 1:30pm Option 5 - Arenal Volcano Hike The Arenal Volcano National Park and other reserves along the border of the National Park are one of the most visited places in all of Central America. The trails in Arenal National Park and other nearby Arenal Reserves are generally flat and not very strenuous โ€” perfect for a leisurely and informative hike with one of our professional nature guides. We will start the tour off by picking you up at your hotel and driving to the entrance of the Arenal National Park (if your tour is in the morning) or to a nearby Arenal Volcano, National Park Peninsula for afternoon tours. You can use the facilities and read up on the history of the area before your guided walk. Then we will hike through well-groomed, easy trails that skirt the base of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal Area. This part of the Arenal Volcano had sections that were devastated by the lava flow of 1968, so some areas have very little vegetation. If you are interested, you may ask your guide to show you the dried lava flow from a smaller eruption that happened in 1992. This guided walk of the Arenal Volcano National Park or National Park Peninsula provides perfect photo opportunities and magnificent views of the impressive Arenal Volcano, the pristine Lake Arenal and the extinct volcano Cerro Chato.       Weโ€™ll meet you at the arrival terminal at Juan Santamaria International Airport. Depending on your arrival time, we will possibly tour the city of San Josรฉ and visit its historic center, with an approximate time of 3 to 4 hours.

      Day 2: San Josรฉ - Alajuela - La Paz Nature Park - San Josรฉ

      This morning weโ€™ll leave for a Doka Coffee Tour in Alajuela. We will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower, and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful array of colors and visuals. We will visit the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast. Then we will be treated to a coffee tour in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica and around the world. The careful process involved in the cultivation, harvesting, and roasting of the Golden Bean will then be illustrated, very hands-on, and then we will savor the delectable product.


      After the coffee tour, we will continue to La Paz Waterfall Garden for a buffet lunch that includes multiple selections of Traditional Costa Rican dishes and much more. At La Paz Waterfall Gardens, we will go through walking trails surrounded by lush tropical rain forest. Here we will appreciate flowing white rivers, spectacular waterfalls, birds, butterflies, monkeys, and hummingbirds. There are also, educational animal exhibits to enjoy such as the Aviary, the Butterfly Observatory, Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, Jungle Cats Exhibit, and the Frog Exhibit. This is definitely a tour enjoyed by nature lovers from all ages. We will then return to San Josรฉ for our overnight stay.

  • Day 3 Day 3: San Josรฉ - Arenal Volcano - La Fortuna

      Day 3: San Josรฉ - Arenal Volcano - La Fortuna

      After breakfast, we will depart for the Hanging Bridges of the Arenal with a calm walk of approximately 2 hours through the tropical rain forest and spectacular views of Lake Arenal. Next, we will visit the Rio Fortuna Waterfall, here we will descend for about 20 minutes in the middle of beautiful trails until we reach this majestic waterfall of an impressive 60 meters high, where you can enjoy a refreshing bath before returning to the town of La Fortuna and delight us with a delicious typical lunch before resuming our journey. At 3:00 pm we will continue with a guided walk of 1 ยฝ hours to the volcano, through trails that will guide us to the best point of observation of the lava flows of this wonderful colossus. We will end our expedition with a relaxing bath in the thermal waters of Tabacรณn, a place of exuberant natural beauty, rivers and thermal mineral cascades that without a doubt will close with great flourish our great experience of the Arenal. Buffet dinner included. We will stay overnight in La Fortuna.
