      A member of the Lead Adventures Staff will visit you at your accommodation This meeting is designed to provide you with an immersive orientation about both Ecuador and the program itself. Following this engaging session, the rest of the day is yours to seize, offering you the chance to delve into the heart of Ecuadorโ€™s capital city and uncover its hidden gems.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Quito - Galapagos - Santa Cruz: Highlands

      Day 3: Quito - Galapagos - Santa Cruz: Highlands

      This day will be your flight from Quito to the Galapagos (Baltra Airport). Upon setting foot on Santa Cruz, our welcoming guides will be there to extend their warm hospitality. The adventure continues with a visit to Los Gemelos and Primicias Ranch, where youโ€™ll have the privilege of observing the Giant Galapagos Tortoises in their natural habitat. As the day unfolds, an optional visit to the Charles Darwin Station awaits, offering a glimpse into the conservation efforts. Please keep in mind that Galapagos operates on a time zone thatโ€™s one hour behind Quito.

      Your day will start with Bay Tour. As you sail, immerse yourself in marine life and, if fortune smiles upon us, catch glimpses of majestic creatures such as marine turtles, white tip reef sharks, and graceful manta rays. Later in the day, you have the option to independently venture to Tortuga Bay Beach. A scenic 40-minute stroll from the hotel, this beach ranks among the Galapagosโ€™ finest, boasting untouched stretches of ivory sand that are simply unparalleled.

      During this tour you will visit 2 snorkel sites around the coast of Santa Fe. This exceptional tour promises a meeting with the charismatic Galapagos sea lions in their playful underwater realm. Aditional you wil see vibrant coral gardens, reef fish that color the water, and if luck be your companion, catch glimpses of graceful turtles, elusive reef sharks, and rays gliding by. A sumptuous hot lunch awaits you aboard the boat, setting the stage for the next adventure at Playa Escondida, a hidden gem nestled on the Santa Cruz coastline.

      Free day to explore on your own. This day you have the option to book other day tours and activities through local island operators for an additional cost.

      โ€ข Scuba Diving Unlock the exhilarating realm of Galapagos underwater through scuba diving. The Galapagosโ€™ aquatic theater showcases the enchanting dance of penguins, sea lions, marine iguanas, and the graceful choreography of sea turtles, manta rays, and eagle rays. Divers share the water with penguins, sea lions, marine iguanas, sea turtles, manta rays, eagle rays, octopus, moray eels, and a variety of sharks including hammerhead, Galapagos, white tip reef sharks, and many more!

      Some days prior your departure the Lead Adventures Staff will send you the name of the boat which you have to approach and look for your names. Be at the pier by around 1:15 pm โ€“ thatโ€™s when the real fun begins. At 2:00 pm, itโ€™s all aboard as the speedboat whisks you from Santa Cruz to San Cristobal Island. Your arrival time? 4:30 pm. There you will find a taxi ready to whisk you off to the hotel of your choice.

      Your adventure will start into the Biological Station for the upcoming days, where youโ€™ll be the driving force behind vital conservation projects. Your journey begins bright and early at 7:00 AM when a friendly taxi will transfer you away from your hotel to the station, a short and scenic 45-minute ride.


      The Biological Station is an area of 200 hectares of native vegetation, a dynamic canvas of natural beauty. Here, our primary mission is to nurture and revive the four unique vegetation zones that grace the Galapagos archipelago. Our vision? To clear away the invasive species that threaten these delicate ecosystems and replace them with indigenous and endemic flora. This innovative approach is the cornerstone of our commitment to ensuring the Galapagosโ€™ sustainable future.


      Now, letโ€™s dive into the heart of your experience. Over the next days, youโ€™ll be actively involved in a spectrum of engaging activities, each leaving a lasting impact:


      Reforestation: Embark on a journey of growth as you plant native and endemic species within the reserve and on local farms. Your hands will be instrumental in restoring the natural balance.


      Environmental Education: Ignite curiosity and awareness among local communities and schools. Share your passion for conservation and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.


      Station Maintenance: Roll up your sleeves and join us in trail maintenance, crafting informative signs for the pathways, basic construction tasks, and helping ensure a clean and sustainable fresh water supply. Dive into every aspect of station life, including assisting in the kitchen.


      Organic Agriculture: Get your hands in the soil as you participate in organic agricultural activities and contribute to secure food production for the station. Experience the profound connection between nature and nourishment.


      Guided Hikes: Explore the rich biodiversity of the reserve and its neighboring areas. Your guided hikes will discover Galapagos, from natural history to ecological wonders.

      Project continues into Friday followed by an activity with the other volunteers. Your accommodations for the night will be in town.

      Similar to your initial boat journey, the Lead Adventures Staff will provide you with the boat names to look out for as you venture to the next islands. On these particular days, your adventure starts early, with a departure from the hotel at 6:20 am to catch the 7:00 am boat to Santa Cruz. Arriving there you will have free exploration awaits until you board the 1:30 pm ferry bound for Isabela. With an arrival time of approximately 4:30 pm in Isabela, a representative from the hotel will be present at the port to extend a warm welcome.

      the Tortoise Breeding Center, approximately 330 tortoises are raised with care, in preparation for their eventual release into their natural habitat. Furthermore, a fascinating escapade to Los Tรบneles awaits you. Here, the stage is set for a symphony of natural wonders: blue-footed boobies, sea lions playfully dance, penguins, tropical fish and turtles gracefully navigate the passage from mangrove to sea.

      Embarking from the port, youโ€™ll step aboard a speedboat that gracefully navigates the bay, carrying you to the charming islet of Las Tintoreras, named after its resident white-tip sharks. Prepare to witness a harmonious dance of wildlife - penguins, sharks, blue-footed boobies, majestic pelicans, enchanting iguanas, and playful sea lions all share the stage. A snorkeling interlude awaits, complete with inclusive snorkeling gear.

      Early morning ferry ride back to Santa Cruz, where the day unfolds with possibilities. In the afternoon, the choice is yours: indulge in some retail therapy with a shopping spree or simply unwind and relax, savoring the tranquility of this captivating island.

      Day 21: Flight Back To Quito

      Transportation back to Baltra airport upon departure is not included in the program.  If you prefer, you can request the hotel receptionist to arrange a taxi for you. Upon reaching the canal, a nominal fee (USD 1.00) unlocks access to the ferry transporting you to Baltra Island. Following this, an additional fee of USD 5 is required for the bus service that shuttles you to the main airport. Upon your return to Quito, our driver will be at airport to transfer to your hotel.

      NOTE: ensure youโ€™re at Baltra airport a full 2 hours prior to your flightโ€™s departure time. The journey from the hotel to the airport takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
