      Have you packed your comfortable shoes, driverโ€™s license and glasses? Then youโ€™re ready to go. After boarding, the plane takes off for South America.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Puerto Montt - Puerto Varas

      Day 2: Puerto Montt - Puerto Varas

      Arrival in Puerto Montt, where you will be welcomed by your tour guide. Transfer to the rental car station and pick up your rental car. You drive to the rose town of Puerto Varas, picturesquely situated on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. You will always have the majestic Osorno volcano in view. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 0.5h, 20 km).

  • Day 3 Day 3: Puerto Varas - Reloncavi Fjord - Hornopiren

      Day 3: Puerto Varas - Reloncavi Fjord - Hornopiren

      In the morning, you have time to explore on your own. Take a hike at the foot of the picture-book volcano Osorno with its glacier cap or visit the waterfalls of Petrohue, picturesque cascades with a view of the volcano. Then drive along the Reloncavi Fjord to Hornopiren. On the way, it is worth visiting the Alerce Andino National Park with its millennia-old Alerce trees. A visit to the Pichicolo thermal baths is also highly recommended. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 4 hours, 230 km).

      In the morning, ferry ride through the scenic Leptepu Fjord. The mountain slopes to the left and right of the fjord are covered in impenetrable rainforest. After arriving in Leptepu, you drive a short distance on a gravel road. On the second ferry passage, you have the opportunity to take in the magnificent landscape of the Pumalin Park. Once you arrive in Caleta Gonzalo, you will travel by car to Chaiten. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 1h, 50 km).

      Today is free for you to take a trip to the nearby Pumalin National Park. The largest private park in Chile is ideal for shorter or longer hikes together with your tour guide. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      Day 6: Chaiten - La Junta

      Today you continue your journey on the famous Carretera Austral past glacier-covered mountain massifs, dreamy lakes and picturesque waterfalls. A hike to the Yelcho hanging glacier is well worthwhile. In the afternoon you will reach your accommodation near La Junta. Overnight stay in a lodge. (Travel time approx. 2 hours, 150 km).

  • Day 7 Day 7: La Junta - Queulat National Park - Coyhaique

      Day 7: La Junta - Queulat National Park - Coyhaique

      You continue south and follow the dirt road through partly dense jungle to Coyhaique. On the way, you can visit the Queulat National Park with its famous hanging glacier "Ventisquero Colgante". The bright blue shining ice masses and the glacier water cascading down in waterfalls are impressive! A detour into the enchanted forest is also worthwhile. Overnight stay in a hotel.       Day 8: Coyhaique - Puerto Tranquilo

      Early departure to the largest lake in Chile, Lago General Carrera. On the way, a hike in the Cerro Castillo National Reserve amidst lenga forests and rugged mountain peaks is well worthwhile. To the right of the route is the Hudson volcano (1905 m), which covered large areas of Chile and Argentina in ash in 1991. In the afternoon, there is an optional boat trip to the unique marble caves.       Day 9: Exploring The Exploradores Valley

      Today it is worth taking a trip to the Exploradores Valley, a picturesque side valley on the western shore of the lake. From the glacier of the same name, you can enjoy a unique view of the highest mountain in Patagonia, San Valentin (4058 m). A full-day boat trip to the imposing San Rafael Glacier is also possible. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      We drive along Lago General Carrera towards the Chilean-Argentinean border. On the onward journey, a detour to the Jeinimeni nature reserve is worthwhile. The Moon Valley there with its bizarre rock formations is in no way inferior to the famous Atacama Desert site of the same name. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 3.5 hours, 180 km).

      Day 11: Chile Chico - Lago Posadas

      Drive past the small village of Perito Moreno along the legendary Ruta 40 and make a detour to the Cueva de las Manos. This "cave of hands" is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is particularly famous for its rock paintings. The route then continues southwards until you turn off onto a beautiful gravel road towards the Andes at Bajo Caracoles. Again and again, guanacos, horses and armadillos cross your path. It is very rare to see a house or a remote estancia. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 4 hours, 260 km).

      Day 12: Picturesque Lago Posadas

      Today is free for you to recover from the days of driving and to explore the surrounding area. For example, discover the turquoise-colored Lago Posadas, which is only separated from its larger, deep blue neighboring lake by a small spit of land. The strange, tunnel-like rock formation in the middle of the lake is fascinating. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      Today you drive south along the famous Ruta 40. After a long drive, you will reach the mountaineering Eldorado of El Chalten in Los Glaciares National Park in the evening. El Chalten is the starting point for all hikes and expeditions to the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre rock needles. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 9 hours, 530 km).

      This day is at your leisure. Leave the car and go on a rewarding hike to the foot of the Fitz Roy. Through magnificent southern beech forests and past the Piedras Blancas glacier, you will reach the Laguna de los Tres. At your destination, you will have an unforgettable view of the Fitz Roy and the neighboring rock needles. The way back leads past the beautifully situated Laguna Capri down to El Chalten.       Today you can go on another hike, for example to Laguna Torre. Alternatively, we recommend a detour to the nearby Lago del Desierto, a glacial lake on the border with Chile. If you wish, you can book a boat tour on site. You then drive to El Calafate. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 3.5 hours, 215 km).

  • Day 16 Day 16: Perito Moreno Glacier

      Day 16: Perito Moreno Glacier

      Today you will go on an excursion to the nearby Perito Moreno Glacier. The world-famous glacier is one of the few growing glaciers in the world. The 60 m high and 4 km wide front is impressive. Optionally, you can take a boat tour along the edge of the glacier (approx. 1 hour). Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 2h, 150 km).

  • Day 17 Day 17: Torres Del Paine National Park

      Day 17: Torres Del Paine National Park

      Today you drive from El Calafate back to Chile. You cross the border in Cerro Castillo. From here it is only a short distance to Chileโ€™s most famous national park, Torres del Paine. If you feel like it, you can go on a short hike or marvel at the highlights of the park, such as the Salto Grande waterfalls, in your vehicle. Overnight stay in a hotel outside the park. (Travel time approx. 4 hours, 300 km).

  • Day 18 Day 18: Hiking In Torres Park

      Day 18: Hiking In Torres Park

      The day is at your leisure. You can go on a day hike with your tour guide through dense southern beech forest to the foot of the almost vertical Torres del Paine rock towers. The last part of the hike is a steep ascent across the moraine field of the glacier of the same name before you catch sight of the striking rock spires. After a short rest, you return to your accommodation. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Walking time approx. 8h, 950 mโ†‘โ†“, 19 km).

  • Day 19 Day 19: Torres Del Paine National Park - Punta Arenas

      The morning is at your disposal for further explorations in Torres Park, e.g. for an optional excursion to the Grey Glacier. In the afternoon, continue to Punta Arenas on the Strait of Magellan. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 3.5 hours, 300 km).
