      Maio Island Experince

      Get picked-up at the port in Praia at 7.30 am and embark on a beautiful two-hour ferry trip to Maio arriving at 9aam. Start your discovery from the Eco-Museum and learn about the history of the colonization of the island, rooted in the exploitation of salt and coal. Move on to Porto Inglรชs Salinas wetland and have a chance to see the locals producing Salt. Next, head to Morro village known for its small colonial houses built with pyramid-shaped tiles. Your tour progresses to the locality of Calheta, where a visit to its handcraft center allows you to buy local souvenirs. Continue towards Morrinho village and walk through the white dunes brought by the wind from the Sahara Desert. You will have a lunch stop for an hour before heading to Porto Inglรชs, Maio Cape Verde. Then, drive to Vila do Maio and there visit Sรฃo Josรฉ Fortress, built to protect the island from pirate attacks. At 2 pm you take a ferry back to the port arriving at the Praia, tour concludes with drop-off at the port in Praia at 5 pm.
