      As soon as you leave the medieval town of Ponte de Lima youยดll return to the rural world, then youยดll reach the  Labruja mountain. The 2 km uphill are the most demanding of the whole Portuguese Way to Santiago but the views are worth the effort.

      Once youโ€™re over the hill, itโ€™s an easy walk to complete this stage.

      This walking journey starts by leaving the valley of the River Coura and climbing gently to Sรฃo Bento da Porta Aberta. Youโ€™ll pass some small villages and a section of pretty woodland before hitting the urban approach to Valenรงa.

      Cross the International Bridge over the River Minho into Spain and visit the medieval town of Tui. Our recommended detour cuts out O Porriรฑoโ€™s industrial zone, allowing you to spend most of your day amid forests and fields.

Youยดll start by walking from the small city of Arcade, and the Way will take you on ancient stone paths through the woods and along the River Tomeza, surrounded by trees and birdsong. Only the final few kilometers are in busy urban areas and once you enter the ancient narrow streets of the narrow medieval center of Santiago, the atmosphere changes your approach to the cathedral square. Enter the medieval center of Santiago to make your way to the magnificent cathedral and end your journey.
