      Today you will dive into the world of the Impressionists! Your way leads you to Giverny, where the gardens of the former house of Claude Monet are located. Marvel at the lush flower garden, recognized as a natural monument, which with its variety of plants and beguiling smells already stimulated the creativity of the famous painter. Afterwards, in the small town of Vernon, you will enjoy the picturesque view of the Clemenceau Bridge, which fascinated Monet so much that he captured it on canvas. (F)

      Today you will explore the historic city of 100 church towers on foot. With your tour guide, you will embark on a journey through time through winding alleys, past half-timbered houses and majestic churches and chapels. Let yourself be enchanted by the Gros Horloge, one of the oldest astronomical clocks in Europe, and catch sight of Rouen Cathedral, which with its play of light and color became the model for 33 paintings by Claude Monet. Immerse yourself in the life story of the famous Virgin of Orleans. At the Tour Jeanne dArc and the place of cremation of the French national heroine you will learn more about her tragic fate. In the afternoon, you will have time to explore the city individually. Visit one of the museums or enjoy the numerous culinary offerings and shopping opportunities. (F)

      Today you can enjoy the nature of Normandy with all your senses! The Parc naturel rรฉgional des Boucles de la Seine Normande extends over 80,000 hectares to just before Le Havre, where the Seine flows into the English Channel. The valleys of the river have a special microclimate, which is ideal for fruit growing. Lush green meadows alternate with numerous apple orchards and fruit plantations. On a relaxing hike with your guide you can also explore the historical aspects of the area. Thatched houses and old farms offer you insights into the life of farmers in times gone by (easy, 10 km, walking time: approx. 4 hrs, +/-60 m altitude gain). Along the vastness of the Norman coast you will drive to the next location of your trip, Caen. Before that, however, you will stop in the harbor town of Honfleur. In the past, Honfleur was a meeting point for many Impressionists and is still a creative attraction for painters and artists. Stroll through the town on your own, exploring the many galleries and imposing buildings for inspiration. 3 nights in Caen. (F)

      Your day today starts with a tour of the city of Bayeux with its many historic buildings, including the light-filled cathedral, several churches and city palaces, as well as the former tannersโ€™ quarter. At the Bayeux Tapestry, start your search for the historic figure of William the Conqueror. Marvel at the unique relic of contemporary history and learn exciting background knowledge about the nearly 70-meter-long work of art, which depicts the conquest of England in 1066 with detailed embroidery. It goes back to Caen. Look forward to the mighty Chรขteau de Caen, one of the largest medieval fortifications in Europe. Can you imagine the effect this lofty castle must have had on the people of that time? For the historical end of the day, visit the Abbaye aux Hommes, the "Abbey of the Lords" also founded by the Conqueror, which also houses the last resting place of William. (B/M)

      Today is all about D-Day. The landing beaches in Normandy are among the most important sites in the former area of operations and, with their bunkers and fortifications, are still silent witnesses to the events of June 6, 1944. Embark on a journey through time to one of the most significant moments in European history. The largest German military cemetery in Normandy is located in La Cambe and serves as a resting place for 21,000 fallen soldiers. The adjacent information center provides insight into their personal fates, and the neighboring Peace Park is now home to over 1,200 maple trees donated to the park as a sign of peace over the past decades. In the afternoon, a tour of an apple farm awaits, where a staff member will give you insight into how apples are grown and processed into the famous cider and other locally produced beverages. During a tasting you can see for yourself the quality of the popular Norman drink. (F)

      Day 7: Enjoyment At Mont-Saint-Michel

      Head to the southwesternmost part of Normandy to discover the secret of French "pile mussels" at Maison Baie and learn more about mussel farming. Youโ€™ll also spend the rest of the day near the sea, visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Mont Saint-Michel, which juts out from the tidal flats. When most of the tourists are already back in their buses, youโ€™ll be led through small alleyways up to an abbey church overlooking the bay and embark on a tour of 1,300 years of French history.
