  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival In Kathmandu (1,350M) & Transfer To Hotel.

      A representative from Sherpa Expedition Teams will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Thamel โ€“ the tourist hub of Kathmandu. You can stroll around Thamel and buy any equipment you may need on your trek. During the day you will be informed of the itinerary and other features of the trek. 

  • Day 2 Day 2: Drive From Kathmandu To Soti Khola (710M) Duration 7-8 Hours.

      Today we will either take a public bus or car to Soti Khola, with a stop along the way for a lunch break. Tonight we will stay at Soti Khola.

      Today we trek for 15km to reach Machha Khola where we will stay at a teahouse overnight.

      The trail today follows the river to Khorlabesi and the hot water spring at Tatopani (meaning hot water) (930m), and then along the trail on the eastern bank of the Budi Gandaki River to Doban, Thulo Dunga and Yara Bagar (1370m). The trail zigzags across the river over a number of suspension bridges to cross before coming to the entrance gate of the Manaslu Conservation Area and Jagat (1410m) - with its unique flagstone village square. Permits are checked by authorities. Uma Holidays Travel &Tours will check that the route is passable, and may recommend we take an alternative route taking a much higher path on the east side of the river before returning to the old trail near Doban.

      The trail climbs up to Salleri and Sirdibas before reaching Philim. The countryside becomes gradually more desolate as the trail winds past several waterfalls until we reach a crossroad at Ekle Bhatti where the trail heads to Lokpa - a village on the trail to the Tsum Valley. We then climb above the junction of the Buri Gandaki and Shar Khola Rivers and continue on to Pewa and then Deng (1860m) where we will stay the night. Many villages here suffered widespread damage in the 2015 Nepal earthquake.

      Today we follow a trail above the Tom Khola (river) to Longa Chuta before arriving at an enchanting fir and rhododendron forest filled with birds and Langur monkeys on the north side of the Buri Gandaki River. We cross back to the other side of the river before coming to Namrung (2660m) which was a previous customs post in the days when this was a route for transporting salt from Tibet. Namrung is another village that suffered extensive damage from the 2015 earthquake, but today it has been rebuilt.

      Today we will pass a long Mani stone wall in the village of Lho, with a remarkable view of Peak 29 ahead us. We will take a short detour to the Pungen Glacier for up-close views of the eye-catching Mt. Manaslu from the village. We will stay in Samagaun at the guesthouse tonight.

      Before heading higher we need to get acclimatized for a period of at least one day. Health specialists recommend that you stay active and not just sit idle. Today we will explore the Gompa at Pugyen (4070m), a one day trek that leaves the trail between Syaula and Sama. It is also possible for us to carry on up this valley to the jagged terrain of the Pugin Glacier. Another option is we trek to Birendra Tal (lake - 3450m) and then have a hard climb up to Manaslu Base Camp (4900m). It is believed that to the north of Birendra Tal is Milarepaโ€™s Cave (famous Buddha) that he used as a meditation retreat.

      Today we head uphill and back to the Buri Gandaki River and pass the junction of Birendra Tal and Manaslu Base Camp. The valley then widens before coming to Kermo Khadka and then continues on to the white Kani Gateway that signals the entrance to Samdo (3860m). If we have time we will trek to the peak above the village for remarkable views of Mt. Manaslu. If we need to further acclimatize there is a 6 to 7-hour trek of 640m up to the moraine of the Fukang Glacier where you will have expansive views toward several high passes used by locals to cross over into Tibet.

      This morning we trek down through fields before beginning our climb to Larkya La Pass, a trail that offers breathtaking views of Manaslu and the Syacha Glacier. It is quite likely we will see Himalayan blue sheep on the trail leading to Dharamsala (4480m). This is as high as we trek today without risking possible altitude sickness. This is also the last safe refuge before reaching the pass. This leg of the trek is often subject to snowfall between mid - December to mid -March when snow regularly blocks access through Larkya La Pass. Samdo Lodge is usually closed in winter months. Your guide will know in advance if the lodge is closed.

      Today we begin with a short climb to the north side of Larkya Glacier from where we have excellent views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. The climb to the Larkya La (5100m) pass is at first a gradual ascent but gradually becomes steeper as we get closer to the pass. At the top of the pass we are blessed with stunning panoramic views of several mountain ranges. The descent from the pass is just as hard on the legs. Next we will come to Bhimthang where we camp the night in a tent.

      This morning we trek through the paddy fields and head to the smaller Karcher La Pass. The trail then descends through fig trees and rhododendron forests before arriving at Tilje Village. We continue and then come to Dharapani where we will stay at a guesthouse.

      The trail today passes through fir forests and follows a stream.  We head to higher elevations through oak and maple trees and have some superb views of the Annapurna Himals. These Himalayan mountains soar above the skyline. Tonight we will stay at a guesthouse in Chame.

      The trail winds its way through the forest with some great views of Pisang Peak and the Annapurnas along the way. We will stay overnight at the guesthouse in Pisang.

      Today we take the Ghyaru-Ngawal-Mungji trail to Manang through the Manang Valley with views of the Annapurnas, Gangapurna and Pisang Peak. The landscape becomes arider and you will notice a change in the fauna as we progress along the trail.  At Manang, we will visit the Tibetan Buddhist Barge Monastery. Manang has the largest number of Buddhists in the region. We will stay at the guesthouse at Manang overnight.

  • Day 16 Day 16: Acclimatization Day At Manang.

      Today is set aside for acclimatization and we will visit the nearby Gompas (religious monasteries) in order to stay active. We will also wander around the town and observe the everyday life of the inhabitants.  We can also visit Gangapurna Lake and the Himalayan Rescue Association Clinic. We will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

      Today we initially head to the village of Tenki home to the Limbu people.  We then head into the Marsyangdi valley and trek northwest up to the valley of Jarsang Khola. The trail head north through the valley past fields slowly ascending to the small village of Ghunsa with roofs of their homes made of mud. We pass fields divided by Mani stones where yak are grazing before coming to Yak Kharka where we will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

      From Yak Kharka we head to the village of Thorong Phedi where we will stay overnight at a guesthouse.

      This morning we head out early on a steep climb up to the pass, exhausted but blessed with some fantastic 360 degree views of the snow covered mountains that expand north to Tibet. From here we can see the Annapurnas and the Kali Gandaki gorge. The trail then descends steeply down to Muktinath (3800m) a place that is holy to Hindus and Buddhists. We will stay here overnight at a guesthouse.

      Today we head to Pokhara, Nepalโ€™s second-largest city located next to Phewa Tal (lake).  You may wish to take in the afternoon mountain views of the Annapurnas from lakeside watching the sunset. Tonight we will stay at a hotel near the lakeside.

      This morning we head back to Kathmandu by bus. On arrival, you will be taken to your hotel in Thamel where you may wish to do some last-minute shopping or sit in a lovely cafรฉ and relax.  Breakfast included.
