Itinerary of your trip Ultimate Bucket List

  • Day 1 Amsterdam
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Amsterdam

First stop on your train holiday around Europeโ€™s glorious cities is Amsterdam, often referred to as โ€™Venice of the Northโ€™. The capital of the Netherlands is a city on everyoneโ€™s bucket list, and I think itโ€™s safe to say you need to visit the Dam at least once in your life! From unconventional restaurants, local craft beers to world-class museums, itโ€™s easy to see why itโ€™s at the top of everyoneโ€™s list. Donโ€™t forget that this city has more bicycles than people, therefore the only way to explore is in true Netherlands style!

  • Day 2 Amsterdam
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Amsterdam

Now that you have a full day to spend exploring all that Amsterdam has to offer, we highly recommend start your day off by visiting the Anne Frank Museum.  But be aware, you need to plan and book your tickets online as this is one of the most popular tours in Amsterdam and can sell out very quick.  The good news is you can get some of Amsterdamโ€™s famous pancakes just next door to the museum.  Other tours we recommend are the Heineken Experience, Rijksmuseum and the Aโ€™DAM lookout.  Looking for the nightlife? Head to the party hub, Leidseplein.

  • Day 3 Arrive In Berlin
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Arrive In Berlin

Visit Berlin, a city often compared to New York, as it never sleeps! The locals here are known as the lotus-eaters of Germany as they love nothing more than a good time. Donโ€™t let this put you off! As this city is pulsating with museums, tasty beer, and an unimaginable history! Itโ€™s safe to say that Berlin is a city loved by those on a rail holiday across Europe. Remember that history will greet you at every corner!

  • Day 4 Berlin
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Berlin

Using your app, you should tick some of the recommendations off on our city guide.  Berlin has an immense amount of history waiting to be discovered.  Berlin staged a revolution, was headquartered by Nazis, bombed to bits, divided in two and then finally reunited.  Our top 2 favourite tours are the poignant Jewish Memorial and the largest open-air art gallery in the world, the East Side Gallery.

  • Day 5 Berlin
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Berlin

Spend your final full day in Berlin walking around the city, seeing what you stumble upon.  Visit iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Fersehturm and Berliner Dom.  If you enjoy art, you should take a trip to Museum Island, whereas the name suggests, an island that is home to numerous museums (five to be precise). The museums are home to some amazing pieces of work that you shouldnโ€™t pass up on visiting when in Berlin.

  • Day 6 Arrive In Prague
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Arrive In Prague

Itโ€™s no secret that Prague is one of Europeโ€™s most magical, affordable and beautiful cities, a perfect addition to any interrail route. The โ€™City of a Thousand Spiresโ€™ is an architectural gem, the city has been an important UNESCO World Heritage Site which attracts more and more tourists every year! The narrow streets open up onto fantastic squares which host to medieval-looking homes and historical buildings for you to explore! Start in the centre of the Old Town, home to the major sights and has been the cityโ€™s main marketplace for a millennium.

  • Day 7 Prague
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Prague

A trip to Prague would not be complete without taking a walk along the iconic Charles Bridge, one of Pragueโ€™s most popular tourist attractions.  It can be quite busy during the day, why not visit early morning or late in the evening to have the bridge all to yourself?  The John Lennon Wall, which since the 1980s, has been filled with John Lennon inspired graffiti and Beatles song lyrics, as well as other designs relating to local and global causes. Check out your city guide and discounted sightseeing tours for other things to do while youโ€™re here.

  • Day 8 Krakow
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Krakow

When you travel across Europe, you will find that there are many beautiful cities, but nothing compares to the beauty of the Old Town in Krakow. You can take on this city on foot as all the main sights are within walking distance. All of the cobbled streets and squares, scenic parks and medieval castle walls are added extras! Thousands of people visit this city every year with the aim to visit the poignant Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial, which is unquestionably the most important trip to do on your city break to Europe!

  • Day 9 Krakow
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Krakow

Thousands of visitors flock to Krakow every year to visit the poignant Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial, which is unquestionably the most important trip to do while youโ€™re here.  This will be an all-day trip so donโ€™t plan to do much else. In the evening, we recommend visiting Tytano, just a few miles from the city centre, lies an old tobacco factory which has been converted into different restaurants and bars.  Youโ€™re sure to find something you like in Tytano.

  • Day 10 Budapest
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Budapest

One of Europeโ€™s best cities, Budapest. This city is nicknamed the City of Spas for a reason, as itโ€™s filled with beautiful baths all with healing properties. Not to mention, the architecture surrounding the baths is a sight to see on its own! Take a walk through the streets of this city and you will notice the beauty becomes apparent. You will soon understand why many tourists flock here for a city break every year. The buildings here take on many architectural styles and the city is famous for its Art Nouveau architecture. Budapestโ€™s foodie scene is increasingly interesting, with plenty of restaurants and cafes serving up delicious local dishes such as goulash!

  • Day 11 Budapest
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Budapest

A must when in Budapest is to visit those baths we mentioned.  We recommend visiting the Szรฉchenyi Thermal Bath, which you can get a discounted ticket for through our app.  If you take a walk along the Danube Bank, you will discover the Shoes on the Danube Bank Memorial.  This memorial was created to honour the Jews who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during WWII.  Spend your evening at Szimpla Kert โ€˜Ruin Barโ€™, where the nightlife started when it opened in the Jewish Quarter in 2001.  It spawns seven copy-cat bar experiences that have come to define a night out in Budapest.

  • Day 12 Budapest
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Budapest

Use your app to check out what you may have missed over the past two days and need to see before your time in Budapest is up! You could start your day off in Fishermanโ€™s Bastion, which was built to celebrate the thousandth birthday of the Hungarian State.  If youโ€™re looking for unforgettable views, climb one of the ornate turrets.  You can even pop into the cityโ€™s most famous patisseries while youโ€™re up there! No trip to Budapest would be complete without stopping by the iconic Hungarian Parliament Building.  You could even take a bike tour (weather permitting) to ensure youโ€™ve hit all the top sights of Budapest. Discounted tickets can be bought through our app.

  • Day 13 Ljubljana
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Ljubljana

Ljubljana, Sloveniaโ€™s capital city, is the hidden gem of Europe, an interrail favorite! A city renowned for green space, beautiful bridges, and buildings. As well as dozens of different urban design elements such as lamp posts, pillars, and pyramids. This makes the city even more visually appealing! While youโ€™re here, you NEED to visit Lake Bled! This is definitely one of the most spellbinding places in Slovenia, if not Europe. This incredibly scenic lake near the Alps looks too good to be real! With the island church, clifftop castle, and mountain backdrop, youโ€™re sure to find more than enough to keep you entertained here!

  • Day 14 Ljubljana
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Ljubljana

Now that you have explored the beautiful city of Ljubljana, you must spend this day visiting the stunning Lake Bled.  See the fairy-tale medieval castle with Romanesque tower, drawbridge and moat perched up high, overlooking a calm and glistening lake rippling only by the flap of a duckโ€™s wing or a kayak paddle.  A small island sits in the centre of it all.  If youโ€™re lucky to be there when the weather is hot, find the rope swing and go swimming.

  • Day 15 Split
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Split

Set beside Splitโ€™s sparkling harbor, with the palm-lined Riva promenade along its southern facade, Diocletianโ€™s palace is one of, if not the most impressive Roman ruins in the world. Game of Thrones fans will recognize it as the home of the Mother of Dragons. A trip to Croatia would not be complete without a cup or ten of Croatian coffee. Stopping for coffee is a relatively cheap way to soak up some of the cityโ€™s most famous highlights! Enjoying the water spots or tanning at the beach is another reason to visit the magical split.

  • Day 16 Split
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Split

First things first, you need to explore Split Old Town.  The oldest part of Split is set in the Roman palace.  Every visit to Split, whether itโ€™s a short or long one, inevitably focuses on wandering those cobbled, narrow streets, discovering the hidden alleyways and beautiful architecture.  Spend today with our app, ticking off the big landmarks of Split such as Peristyle, Diocletianโ€™s Palace, Split Cathedral, Gregory of Nin statue, Egyptian Sphinxes, and โ€˜Let me passโ€™ Street (narrowest street in the world).

      Split

If youโ€™re here while the sun is shining, take a trip to one of the townโ€™s popular beaches.  If crowds and water sports is your thing, then we recommend visiting Bacvice beach.  Beach days not your thing? Then take a walk along Splitโ€™s waterfront, Riva, which is known as โ€˜The heart of the townโ€™.  This seafront is lined with cafรฉs, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops.  Here, you will get the vibe for this magnificent city and join in on the local sport of people-watching.
