Day 2: Between The Fjords &Amp; The Arctic Circle: Small Town Norwegian!

Good morning! So, are you up early again? No wonder, because with your anticipation for today you just couldnโ€™t stay in bed any longer! Your keys are already jingling happily in your pocket as you think about todayโ€™s road trip destination. Your route takes you past snow-covered mountain peaks and shimmering dark blue fjords. Need a break? Then stop at a coastal section of your choice and, with a bit of luck, youโ€™ll be joined by singing humpback whales and orcas on the hunt for fish! The hilly landscape is increasingly criss-crossed by water - a magical sight to remember. Then you have reached todayโ€™s destination near the Lofoten Islands.
Welcome to Narvik! The harbor town is located on a headland between two arms of the Ofotfjord north of the Arctic Circle. Want to get an overview first? Then take the cable car (optional, payable locally) and travel comfortably up to the local mountain! The view from up here is priceless! The surrounding mountains, the fjord - everything shines in unique beauty. What else can your eagle eyes spot? Perhaps a restaurant where you can fill your stomach with local fish specialties tonight?
  • Day 3 Day 3: Lofoten: Journey To Another World!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Lofoten: Journey To Another World!

Excited is not an expression at all, because today is a day when dreams come true! Impressive rock formations, fjords straight out of a picture book and the relaxed attitude to life of the islanders: you can hardly wait to experience all this up close and personal. Quickly straighten your rear-view mirror and off you go: The Lofoten Islands are waiting for you!
A quiet "wow" crosses your lips at the sight of your surroundings: Youโ€™ve landed in a completely different world! Red fishermenโ€™s huts, built on stilts directly on the rocky shore of the deep blue sea, a rugged mountain landscape, only occasionally covered by sparse vegetation: the people here have turned this seemingly inhospitable area into a dreamlike place to live - and the perfect playground for you to explore! So: a quick check-in at your accommodation and off you go. Are you hungry? Then head to one of the many fish restaurants and order a local specialty such as bacalao to really get a taste of Lofoten!
  • Day 4 Day 4: Untouched Norway: From Trollfjord To Fishing Village
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Untouched Norway: From Trollfjord To Fishing Village

Ready to immerse yourself in the world of Lofoten? Then letโ€™s go! The European highway E10 connects the islands of Lofoten, but you can only really immerse yourself if you simply park the car and continue on foot. No windshield separates you from nature and you can feel the unspoiled nature of the Lofoten Islands up close! Back on the road, you head for Henningsvรฆr: a small fishing village on the south side of Lofoten. The village stretches across eight islands, which are connected by bridges. Stroll between the little houses on stilts and if you need a bite to eat, make yourself comfortable in one of the many cafรฉs. Need to recharge your batteries? Then itโ€™s on to the Trollfjord. At just 2.5 kilometers, itโ€™s certainly not the size of the Trollfjord that makes it so special. Rather, it is its unmistakable beauty that you can get very close to!
  • Day 5 Day 5: Time For Beach: Sandy Beaches North Of The Arctic Circle
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Time For Beach: Sandy Beaches North Of The Arctic Circle

After rocky cliffs, stilt houses and mountain panoramas, how about a sandy beach today? Thatโ€™s right: Lofoten never ceases to surprise! Haukland Beach and Uttakleiv Beach are among the most beautiful beaches on the islands, both of which are easily accessible on four wheels. Kvalvika Beach is more secluded and hidden and can only be reached after a short hike. Suddenly you are standing on fine sand, looking out to sea and can hardly believe that you are standing many kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, as turquoise blue as the water shines towards you.
The rest of the day you simply drift across the island. You drive off where you like it right now and soak up the indescribable landscape around you. What time is it actually? You have lost all sense of time, because from mid-May to mid-July there is midnight sun on the Lofoten Islands, which is why it is still daylight until late in the evening - all the more time for exploring!
  • Day 6 Day 6: Colorful: Lofoten Love &Amp; Stilt House Stories
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Colorful: Lofoten Love &Amp; Stilt House Stories

Not ready to say goodbye to the red stilt houses yet? Itโ€™s a good thing that today, instead of saying goodbye, itโ€™s just a change of location that will give you a new morning grin. So, bags packed and off you go! You steer your rental car back onto the E10, which you drive almost to the end today.
It doesnโ€™t matter whether you spend the night in Reine, ร… or Sรธrvรฅgen: Wooden cottages, fishermenโ€™s huts and incredibly beautiful nature enchant you throughout the southwest of Lofoten! Is your camera ready? The area is full of photo opportunities that youโ€™ll want to capture. First and foremost, of course, the beautiful mountain landscape and the deep blue waters of the Reinefjord. Want to get up close to this natural wonder? Then hop on the ferry (optional, payable locally) and take a trip across the fjord! Once you reach the opposite shore, hiking trails in untouched nature await you. Just go for it and let yourself be surprised by what the wilderness has in store for you!

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: For Explorers: From ร… To Cinnamon Snail

Today, the small fishing village of ร… is on your bucket list. Why should you definitely have a look around here? The place has several superlatives: Firstly, it has the shortest place name in the world and it is also the southernmost point that you can reach by car in the Lofoten Islands. You can only go further on foot! You donโ€™t mind, of course, because thatโ€™s the best way to explore. Is your stomach growling? Then make sure you stop off at the over 100-year-old museum oven on your stroll through ร… and try the delicious, freshly baked cinnamon buns! Continue on to Reine. The small fishing village is best known for its local mountain, Reinebringen. If you are not afraid of heights, then follow the approx. 1700 steps up. Once at the top, you will hardly believe your eyes: this fabulous view over Reine is so much better than in any travel guide!

Day 8: Adventure Ahead: The Call Of The Far North!

Today you are slowly but surely making your way east to leave Lofoten again. But wait, did you still want to visit the fishing village of Nusfjord or take that one excursion? No problem, thereโ€™s still a little time left to do everything you havenโ€™t managed to do yet! After an unforgettable Lofoten experience, take another look back to make sure you remember the postcard motif of bright red stilt houses against a unique natural backdrop. But then itโ€™s finally time to move on.
As you approach Harstad, you can see the 1200-metre-high Mรธysalen mountain, which is located in the national park of the same name, from afar. You check into your hotel and make your first plans for exploring your surroundings. The best way to get an overview is to hike up the local mountain, Gangsรฅstoppen, from where you have a perfect panoramic view of Harstad. And now? You hear your stomach growling - and the evening plans are clear!

Butterflies spread in your stomach at the thought of discovering more nooks and crannies of the Norwegian city: the many colorful wooden houses, cobblestone streets, cozy bars and the warm hospitality of the Norwegians - letโ€™s go! Do you want to memorize the sight of the city once again? Then make your way back up Storsteinen - the cable car will take you to the summit in just 4 minutes! From a height of over 400 meters, you can let your gaze wander, with the Tromsรธ Bridge, which connects the city center on the island of Tromsรธya with the Tromsdalen district on the mainland, naturally standing out. Once back down, take a stroll through the lively city before enjoying a typical Norwegian meal in the evening. God appetite!
  • Day 10 Day 10: "Norge" At Heart
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 10: "Norge" At Heart

Yes, all goodbyes are hard. Especially when you have to leave the natural giant that is Norway behind you. First you drop off your rental car at the airport, then you board the plane. But the memories you take home with you are a little consolation for the pain of separation. And by the way: after this adventure, you will always carry a piece of "Norge" in your heart anyway.
