These include the First Storey Building, the family home of Seriki Williams Abbas and the "point of no return", where most slaves had to wait for their shipment. It is a place that reminds you of the sad history of the slave trade. You can also visit the Heritage Museum, which tells the story of the transatlantic slave trade between Africa and America. • Day 4 Day 4: Lagos - Abeokuta
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Lagos - Abeokuta

Drive to Abeokuta, a town of particular importance to the Yoruba people. The townโ€™s main attraction is Olumo Rock, where the Egba clan, who later established a powerful kingdom, is said to have hidden during the Yoruba war in the 19th century. Olumo Rock is 130 meters above sea level and has steps that lead to the top. The remains of settlements can still be found in the caves and a small community of believers can still be found behind the rock. Another interesting feature of the town are the Afro-Brazilian-style houses. These were built in the 19th century by slaves freed from Brazil for local merchants, which explains the architectural influence. Many buildings in the city are in a state of disrepair, but the ornate facades are still worth seeing. There is also a fetish market, which, as part of the Kuto market, is not necessarily suitable for the faint-hearted, but is otherwise very fascinating and offers a unique insight into the foreign culture. Everything that followers of voodoo need for their rituals is on sale, from animal heads/bones to talismans and herbs. Another highlight of the day is a visit to the "Kuti Heritage Museum", which is dedicated to the life of Fela Kuti and his family. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 2 hours, approx. 100 km).
