Transport

We have a limited number of road bikes available for rent if you choose not to bring your own bicycle. The cost to rent a road bike for this tour is an additional US$395. If you have your own saddle that you are comfortable with, you are welcome to bring it, and weโ€™ll fit it. We can provide strap-style toe cages if requested, but you might like to consider bringing SPD clip pedals if you use them, and please bring your shoes and cleats. If you bring your own bike, please make sure it is a road bike in good mechanical order. We will be supported by an air-conditioned vehicle that will follow us the whole time.

Guide

You will be led by a local English-speaking tour guide, and if the group is 8 people or more, we will add another guide to the tour. All our guides are well informed in the history, culture, and religions of the area where you are biking and are skilled at passing that knowledge on to you. Your guide is also medically trained and an experienced cyclist, able to handle most minor repairs en route. If you require additional languages, please let us know when booking.

Meals

Meals are included as per the itinerary where B = breakfast, L = lunch, D = dinner. Most meals are local and feature noodles, rice, curries, and soups. Any special dietary requirements can also be catered for as well. Please let us know at the time of booking.

      Dinner and trip briefing.

      Day 2

      We transfer 1.5 hours by car out of the city limits with a stop at a Buddhist monastery. We then ride down the west coast on some nice country roads. We overnight at Bai Sha Beach.

      Day 3

      A spectacular day riding along the coastline with sand dunes and breath-taking landscape. We criss-cross inland and then head back to the coast towards the east side. We climb almost a whopping 1,000m throughout the day but be comforted in knowing that we spend the evening at a hot springs hotel.

      Day 4

      We start the day continuing up the east coast until lunch time. In the afternoon we ascend the coastal mountains to access the Rift Valley - the bread basket of Taiwan - famous for its rice paddies and quiet country roads. We have another night at a hot springs resort.

      Day 5

      Again our day of riding holds a mixture of scenery. Starting off in the valley on undulating roads we then do our second crossing of the mountains to return to the coast. As we head north weโ€™ll pass Hualien city before finishing the ride at Taroko Gorge - a premier tourist destination.

      Day 6

      Today we will ride up through the impressive 19-km-long canyon of Taroko Gorge to the Buddhist Xiangde temple.

      Day 7

      This morning we will drop you off at the Hualien train station for a return to Taipei. We can also arrange for a vehicle transfer if you prefer.
