Day 4: South Iceland
Stop At: Lava Centre, Austurvegi 12-14, Hvolsvollur 860 Iceland
We start our tour from Reykjavik and head to the Lava Centre in Hvolsvรถllur. It is approximately an hour and half ride. We will stop at Lava Centre for a short break and you are able to grab light snacks and use the facilities. The Lava Centre is dedicated to Iceland's riveting volcanic activity and it's frequent earthquakes.

Skรณgafoss is an iconic Icelandic waterfall, it is the starting point of the Fimmvรถrรฐuhรกls hiking trail over into รรณrsmรถrk. The waterfall was also used in filming Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Seljalandsfoss is part of the Seljalandsรก river, which has its origins in Eyjafjallajรถkull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. We recommend you bring either a raincoat or a waterproof coat along if you want to walk behind it.

The Snรฆfellsnes peninsula in the West of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the entire island.The area has beautiful samples of some of the natural wonders Iceland is so famous for. This includes black beaches, magnificent mountains, volcanic craters, incredible birdlife, magical caves, and of course, the most picturesque glacier of them all, Snรฆfellsjรถkull. This tour stops at the small fishing village of Arnarstapi and provides real insight into quintessential volcanic craters. Along the way youโll get great views of the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and the dark cliffs and black sand of Djรบpalรณnssandur bay are a favourite among photographers. Further along, be sure to visit the captivating Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. History buffs may also enjoy a detour to Snorrastofa, the medieval research institute in Reykholt, where Icelandยดs most famous Viking poet, politician, and historian, Snorri Sturluson, wrote the saga Heimskringla in the 13th century. He is also the author of the bible of old Norse mythology, the Edda. Visit a unique and remote man-made ice cave in Langjรถkull, one of Icelandโs largest and most spectacular glaciers. Arrive at Hรบsafell area with stops at Europeโs most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver and the beautiful Hraunfossar lava waterfalls.
