Accommodation

During your journey through the Copper Canyon, you will stay in the beautiful, charming hotels of the Balderrama Hotel Collection. All the hotels are in prime locations and provide excellent services and hospitality. The comfortable hotels have lovely modern rooms with private baths and purified water Hotel Posada del Hidalgo is a beautiful colonial mansion. Built in 1890, the hotel has 75 rooms in three styles, all the rooms are air conditioned and have private tile baths.Located in El Fuerte, the Gateway to the Copper Canyon. Hotel Mision is located in Cerocahui Village at the edge of Urique Canyon. There are 41 spacious rooms with private baths and wood stoves. Enjoy the village founded by Jesuit missionaries in 1694, and the vineyard which currently produces 3,000 bottles of wine annually. Barrancas del Cobre is built from stone, logs and tile, and is nestled into a sloping hill next to the famous Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad. Gardens, a vineyard and an orchard are part of the restful view. This is the sister hotel to Hotel Mirador. Hotel Mirador overlooks awe-inspiring scenery from the rim of the Copper Canyon. This deluxe hotel is surrounded by pine trees, and offers 75 beautiful rooms with impressive views from private balconies. Both Hotel Mirador and Barrancas del Cobre offer demonstrations of the Tarahumara Indians dancing, racing and craft work.

  • Day 1 San Carlos, Sonora To El Fuerte, Sinaloa

      San Carlos, Sonora To El Fuerte, Sinaloa

      The trip begins and ends in San Carlos, Sonora. Be in the hotel lobby for an 8:00 am departure to El Fuerte in the state of Sinaloa.  Submerge in scenic views and stops along the way for lunch, breaks, and shopping.  The estimated time of arrival in El Fuerte is 5:00 PM. Gather at the pool area for a lively presentation of the legendary vigilante El Zorro; before dinner at Hotel Posada Hidalgo.    

  • Day 2 El Fuerte, Sinaloa To Cerocahui, Chihuahua

      El Fuerte, Sinaloa To Cerocahui, Chihuahua

      After a leisurely breakfast at Hotel Posada Hidalgo, depart from El Fuerte at 9:00 AM to El Fuerte Train Station.  Board the Chihuahua al Pacรญfico Railroad train on a 5-hour ride through the Copper Canyon on the famous El Chepe.   The views are gorgeous for the entire trip as the train ride ascends from sea level to 5,000 ft elevation.

      TRAIN SCHEDULE:  Depart El Fuerte 10:20AM.  Arrive at Bahuichivo TS 2:25 PM

      The train station stop is Bahuichivo.  Depart from El Chepe and board a van for a short ride to the Valley of Cerocahui.  Choices for sightseeing will be presented to travelers, including, but not limited to a boarding school for Tarahumara girls, Mission Church and an exquisite Balderrama wine tasting experience may be reserved before dinner at Hotel Mision.

  • Day 3 Cerocahui, Chihuahua To Divisadero, Chihuahua

      Cerocahui, Chihuahua To Divisadero, Chihuahua

      After breakfast at Hotel Mision, depart at 8:00 AM to Urique Canyon Overlook (7,000 ft); the deepest and most expansive view of the canyon on this itinerary.  Return to Hotel Mision before noon for check out; continue in van to the rim of the Copper Canyon and Hotel Mirador on the Rim.  You are right on the rim of Copper Canyon โ€“ the most scenic location in all the canyon system.  This hotel has a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere and it is very conducive to contemplating the natural wonders around you.  From the comfort of your roomโ€™s balcony, you will feel surrounded by the lush beauty of the Copper Canyons. 

  • Day 4 Divisadero Copper Canyon

      Divisadero Copper Canyon

      After breakfast at Hotel Mirador, depart at 9:00 AM to Copper Canyon Adventure Park.  Travelers will experience different canyon views from Divisadero.  Optimal activities at the park are offered at additional cost, i.e.; Ziplining, cable car, rock among other events.  In this place of privileged beauty, we recommend a walk around the edge of the canyon to enjoy the majestic views.

  • Day 5 Divisadero Copper Canyon

      Divisadero Copper Canyon

      Today is a day to experience cultural interaction with the Tarahumara.   A basket weaving demonstration will be presented.  Travelers will learn the remarkable, legacy of the Tarahumara; their intact culture and art.  Numerous opportunities to continue to explore the canyon and to enjoy the gorgeous views and special events before dinner at Hotel Mirador.  

  • Day 6 Divisadero, Chihuahua Chepe Train To El Fuerte, Sinaloa
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Divisadero, Chihuahua Chepe Train To El Fuerte, Sinaloa

      After breakfast at Hotel Mirador, depart at 9:00 AM to Divisadero Train Station.  Board El Chepe for 7 ยฝ hour journey aboard this marvelous engineering through the Sierra Madre Mountains descending from 8,000 ft to sea level.   Travel through most of the 86 tunnels and 39 bridges of the route.    


      TRAIN SCHEDULE:  Depart Divisadero Train Station at 9:00AM.  Arrive El Fuerte Train Station at 3:35PM

      Travelers will disembark at El Fuerte Train Station for an afternoon in El Fuerte.  Stroll the historic plaza and the hotelโ€™s own historical and stunning grounds.  Dinner at Hotel Posada Hidalgo.
