      Day 2: Rock Climbing Course Or Sightseeing

      An expedition trip to Nepal requires more preparation than an average trip abroad. We ensure you are well-equipped, not exhausted, and mentally prepared for the climb. To achieve this, we take you to Balaju, a natural rock climbing spot just a 3 km drive away. Here, youโ€™ll receive a climbing course where youโ€™ll learn to use ropes, harnesses, ice axes, and crampons, even though there is no snow. After the course, we return to Kathmandu for an overnight stay. Alternatively, you can opt for sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley if you feel you donโ€™t need the course. Overnight at the hotel.       We start early to Besisahar, the starting point of the trek. Our adventure begins passing through many small villages on the way that will fascinate us with snippets of every day living in the lowland villages. Overnight at guest house. Meals: Breakfast

      On the first day of our trek, we start on a dirt road at the northern end of Besi Sahar, following a rough rock staircase down to the Puwa Khola and joining the road to Khudi (830m), the first Gurung village on the trek. After crossing a suspension bridge, we rejoin the road on the other side of Khudi and continue to Bhulbule (840m). The majestic Himalchuli and Manaslu II, standing at 7879m, dominate the horizon. Leaving the road, we cross another suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi Khola. The trail ascends past an impressive 60m waterfall surrounded by tropical screw pine trees, through rice terraces with continuous views of Manaslu and Ngadi Chuli, and finally reaches Ngadi (900m). After crossing the Sisneri Khola, we come to a Tibetan settlement and a portersโ€™ stop. The trail then winds between hills and the river, passes a signposted detour to hot springs, and ascends steeply to a well-placed rest stop. From there, we climb through bamboo groves to Bahundanda, where we stay overnight at a guest house. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      After breakfast, we descend through amphitheater-shaped rice terraces, lush forests, and culturally intriguing villages along a steep vertical cliff. After crossing a suspension bridge over the Marshyangdi River, we gradually ascend and reach Jagat (1330m). From Jagat, we continue on a rocky trail to Chamje. Overnight at a guest house. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      We cross a suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River and pass under a house-sized boulder before climbing a rocky trail and a steep stone staircase to Sattale (1480m). The trail then ascends past fields of bamboo and rhododendron before making a short descent to Tal Besi (1590m). From here, the trail crests a ridge topped by a razor-wired army base, entering Manang district and opening into a large plain. At the foot of a large waterfall lies Tal (1700m). Continuing north from Tal, the trail crosses a suspension bridge and follows a cliffside path above the river, eventually reaching Dharapani. Beyond Dharapani, the wide trail climbs gradually over a spur through a forest of blue pine, spruce, hemlock, maple, and oak, arriving at Bagarchhap after about half an hour. Bagarchhap is the first village on the trek featuring typical Tibetan architecture. Overnight at a guesthouse. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

      As we enter the Manang Valley, we continue our ascent, enjoying views of the high Himalayan peaks to the south. Climbing through forests of pine and fir, we reach Danaque, also known as Syal Khola (2210m). From there, we undertake a steep climb, crisscrossing sections of road through rhododendron forest until we arrive at the rustic settlement of Timang (2630m). Continuing our journey, we pass through the traditional villages of Thanchowk and Koto before reaching the larger village of Chame. Overnight at a guest house. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      A narrow, steep path through a dense pine forest leads us to a dramatic curved rock face that rises 1500 meters from the river. As the trail opens up, we will be surrounded by Himalayan peaks all the way to Pisang. A final half-hour climb up a large hill brings us to Upper Pisang. We will spend the night at a guest house. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      Today, we begin our ascent towards Base Camp. From Upper Pisang village, the path climbs through sparse woods and pastures to a Kharka at 4420 meters, an ideal spot for setting up Base Camp for the night. This flat alpine area along a well-worn trail provides an excellent campsite. Overnight stay will be in a tented camp. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      Today we walk for 3-4 hours and set up our high camp at the height of 5400m after climbing to a shoulder on the south west ridge.       Today is the day to fulfill our dream of summiting Pisang Peak. From High Camp, a well-defined ridge leads to the final snow slope, which is quite steep and technical. Our guide will fix the ropes and lead us to a successful summit of Pisang Peak. After reaching the summit, we will descend to Base Camp for an overnight stay in a tented camp. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      We trek from Pisang village to Manang village, following a path along the riverside. Along the way, youโ€™ll notice a stark contrast in the landscape and vegetation as the cold, dry climate creates a harsher environment. The village setting is dramatic, with the summits of Annapurna and Gangapurna less than 8 kilometers away and a massive icefall rumbling down the mountain flanks. Manang is a great mountain valley rich in customs and traditions, offering a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Manangi people. Overnight stay will be at a guest house. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

      We start early in the morning for a long day of trekking, switchbacking up moraines and following rocky ridges. The main challenges in crossing the pass are the high elevation and the possibility of snow blocking the way. Climbing and traversing in and out of canyons, we eventually reach the pass. Crossing the wide Thorung La Pass will be an unforgettable experience, with outstanding high Himalayan views from the trail and the pass itself. We celebrate our success at the pass with a hot cup of tea at a teashop before starting a long descent of 1600 meters to reach Muktinath by evening. Overnight stay will be at a guest house. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Upon arrival, youโ€™ll have the entire afternoon to explore Pokhara, Nepalโ€™s second most popular tourist destination, nestled beneath the snow-capped Annapurna Massif. Overnight stay will be at a hotel. Meals include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
