Accommodation

3 nights en-suite accommodation with breakfast ____ What should I expect from a B&B? B&Bs are traditionally small family owned and run properties offering a handful of guest rooms. They are usually residential properties, so they tend to be located on the outskirts of towns and you should be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk to local facilities like pubs and restaurants. Itโ€™s unusual for a B&B to offer any additional services like concierge, porterage, evening meals or room-service. Wi-fi is usually, but not always available and itโ€™s worth bearing in mind that access can be unreliable in more remote locations. If you have difficulty with stairs, please request a ground-floor room as lifts will not be available in this type of property. ยญ What should I expect from a Hotel? Hotels vary in size but tend to be larger properties run by a team of staff. They usually have a relatively central location but may be up to a 20-30 minute walk from local facilities. They are often housed in traditional old buildings and bathrooms are always for private use and are typically en-suite. The services and facilities offered by hotels varies considerably so you should make a special request at the time of booking if you expect anything specific such as concierge, porterage, bar, restaurant, room service etc. Wi-fi may only be available in communal areas and access can be unreliable in remote locations. If you have difficulty with stairs, please let us know so that we can either book a ground floor room or a hotel with lift access, if available.

Itinerary of your trip 4 Day Cornwall, Devon & Stonehenge Small-Group Tour From Bri

  • Day 1 Dunster - Exmoor National Park - Tintagel
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Dunster - Exmoor National Park - Tintagel

Leaving Bristol bright and early, you begin your journey down into the south-west of England.

Youโ€™ll stop in at cute villages and enjoy a scenic drive through Exmoor National Park, a beautiful mix of moorland, woodland, coast and rivers. We like to keep things flexible this morning, so your driver-guide will touch base with you throughout the day. We stop in at Dunster, which we think youโ€™ll just love. This medieval village is dominated by its Norman Castle, which you can view as you wander the village.

After lunch, you visit the incredible ruins of Tintagel Castle. Sitting snug on the clifftops of North Cornwall, this historic 13th-century castle is believed to be the birthplace of King Arthur. If you enjoy a sheer drop and incredible views, this is the stop for you. It might just turn your stomach to walk out to the castle, but we promise itโ€™s well worth it for the views, photos, and history.

The time is yours to explore this wonderful site and to learn all about its links to the Arthurian Legend. We depart Tintagel and head for the coastal city of Falmouth, our overnight base for the next two nights.

  • Day 2 St Ives - Landโ€™S End - Minack Theatre - St Michaelโ€™S Mount
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      St Ives - Landโ€™S End - Minack Theatre - St Michaelโ€™S Mount

The day begins with a visit to one of Cornwallโ€™s most loved destinations: the fishing town of St Ives. Get in touch with your inner seaside dweller as you wander this idyllic harbour town. If cobbled streets, cottages, and sandy beaches are your thing; youโ€™ll love St Ives.

      ยญ

Your next destination is a must in our opinion. Landโ€™s End is a legendary spot that has inspired people since ancient Greek times when it was referred to as โ€˜Belerionโ€™, or โ€˜Place of the Sunโ€™. If youโ€™re looking for that epic viewpoint for the perfect photo, this is it.

      ยญ

Onwards for a lunch break in perhaps one of the strangest places for a meal you could go to: an open-air theatre perched atop rugged cliffs. Yes, weโ€™re talking about the incredible Minack Theatre. Please note that due to availability, we may be unable to visit this theatre. Your guide will let you know as you go.

      ยญ

Last stop of the day is in Marazion, where youโ€™ll get a chance for a photo of the jaw-dropping St Michaelโ€™s Mount. This rocky island is home to a medieval church and castle, and is Englandโ€™s very own Mont Saint-Michel.

      ยญ

You head back to Falmouth tonight to enjoy a meal and the memories of the day.

  • Day 3 Tavistock - Dartmoor National Park - Widecombe-In-The-Moor - Haytor - Exeter
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tavistock - Dartmoor National Park - Widecombe-In-The-Moor - Haytor - Exeter

This morning we keep things flexible, with possible stops as we start heading north again. Maybe youโ€™ll see a waterfall. Perhaps a stone circle. Who knows where the day will take you.

You then arrive in Tavistock, an ancient stannary (tin-mining district) and market town. You have free time to explore the only town in Devon to hold world heritage status. Youโ€™ll find the fascinating mining landscape of west Devon and Cornwall is often said to begin in Tavistock, the โ€˜eastern gateโ€™ to this World Heritage Site.

The time is yours for lunch and to explore, and thereโ€™s plenty to see. Itโ€™s also the home of the cream tea, just saying.

Your journey continues east into Dartmoor National Park, a stunningly craggy landscape filled with forests, rivers, wetlands and tors. Youโ€™ll stop in the picturesque village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, where the folk song of โ€œWidecombe Fairโ€ has been immortalized. They host an annual fair to honour the song and its tale of Tom Pearce and the death of his horse at the famous fair.

Your adventure in Dartmoor National Park continues with a visit to the rocky granite outcrops of Haytor before you head to Exeter for the evening.

  • Day 4 Durdle Door - Shaftesbury - Stonehenge
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Durdle Door - Shaftesbury - Stonehenge

The last day of your tour doesnโ€™t pull any punches and for those of you who love the seaside, youโ€™ll adore todayโ€™s stops, such as Durdle Door, one of Dorsetโ€™s most photographed landmarks, and the uniqueness of Lulworth Cove.

Then youโ€™re off to Shaftesbury, which is the epitome of a quaint English market town. It also has a fascinating history going back to Saxon times.

The final stop of the day is the iconic and mind-boggling Stonehenge. Itโ€™s been around for around 5,000 years and to this day, people still flock to it in wonder. You among them? There are plenty of legends surrounding these massive stones and how they ended in such a formation. Some believe aliens were involved, while others imagine the likes of the wizard Merlin having something to do with it. Whatever you believe, youโ€™re sure to be in awe.

Your adventure ends with a lovely drive back towards Bristol, where you arrive that evening.
