Welcome to the mysterious land of China! Once you have collected your luggage and been cleared by customs, your wonderful guide will greet you in the Arrivals Hall of Beijing Airport. We will transfer you to the hotel for a three-night stay, where we suggest you relax during the remainder of the afternoon and evening to recover from jet lag so that you can highly enjoy this China tour itinerary.
Day 2 Beijing

After breakfast there will be a short meeting when you can get to know the other members of your group. Your trip today will start from the magnificent Tiananmen Square. Within walking distance, you reach the Forbidden City, famous for its imperial history and grand buildings with its red walls and golden roofs. You will enjoy an a la carte meal at a quality restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit the Yonghe Palace and the Temple of Heaven. Tonight, we will arrange a living Beijing Opera Show in Liyuan Theatre and we will leave enough time for you to see how actors put on makeup on their face.

Day 3 Beijing

Today’s highlight is to visit Mutianyu Great Wall. The round-trip cable car is included. We will specially provide red wine for a group-toasting on the Great Wall. The restaurants nearby the site are of low standard, so we do not arrange the lunch today. It may be the best that you have a big breakfast at the hotel and have some fast food for lunch by yourself. Your guide will show you some restaurants. Drive back to down and have a photo stop at the Olympic National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), you will see its splendid appearance at a distance. Afterwards, you will take a rickshaw tour to explore the original Hutong alleys and have a chance to visit a local family.

Day 4 Beijing - Xian

In the morning, visit the Panda House in Beijing Zoo and the Summer Palace. After that, take a flight to Xi’an and check in at the hotel.

Day 5 Xian

Today’s sightseeing will start with a visit to the majestic Terracotta Army. In the museum, visitors are not only attracted by the lifelike warrior figures which have high artistic value, but also be impressed by the various kinds of ancient weapons. After that, take a family visit to home of the first discoverer of the Terracotta Army. And then make a mini clay warrior by yourself in a traditional cave dwelling with the help of a local artisan.

In the afternoon, you will go to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This evening, you will be entertained by the fascinating and colorful Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show while enjoying a delicious Dumpling Dinner.

Friendly Tips: Clients visiting in Jan, Feb, Mar and Dec need to arrange the dinner and evening activity on their own for this day, since the theater is usually not open at that time.
Day 6 Xian

This morning, before you visit the mighty City Wall, we will take you to explore the City Wall Park first, where you can not only experience the authentic life of the local people, but also learn to practice Tai Chi in a great atmosphere. The City Wall is quite definitely the pride of Xi’an. The old and firm circumvallation is complemented by a forested area around the wall. Its moat and ring road consist of a special and unique park that, like a shining necklace, adorns the ancient capital city of thirteen dynasties. If you are interested, you may rent a bicycle to ride on the ancient wall.

Then explore the lively Muslim Quarter and try the local food and the road extends to the Great Mosque. After visiting the Great Mosque, we will transfer you to visit the Provincial History Museum and enjoy some free time at Tang Dynasty Ever-bright City. We will drive you back to hotel, or, you can continue your walking tour and get back to hotel by yourself.

Day 7 Xian - Chengdu

After breakfast, your guide sees you off at the North Railway Station for your morning high speed train to Chengdu. The train journey takes around 4 hours. Upon your arrival, your local guide will meet you and help you check in at the hotel. Lunch is not included today and you can have a taste of the famous Sichuan food on your own. Your guide will also be very helpful to provide you some suggestions. This afternoon remains for you to relax.

Day 8 Chengdu

Chengdu

A visit to the adorable giant panda is a must in Chengdu. This morning, your guide will take you to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to see the lovely creatures as they feed and play with each other. Then go on to visit the Broad and Narrow Alleys, where you might also have your own lunch with the guide’s suggestions.

Your visit continues to Jinsha Site Museum in the afternoon. After that, you will be transferred to a popular local venue, the Renmin Park. Have a tea break and experience the casual lifestyle of Chengdu people.

Attention: If your travel in Chengdu happens to meet Mondays, on which Jinsha Museum is closed, we will arrange the Thatched Cottage of Du Fu, a traditional Chinese park and museum in honour of the famous ancient poet Du Fu during the Tang dynasty.

Day 9 Chengdu - Chongqing

Today your guide will transfer you to the railway station to catch a 2-hour bullet train to Chongqing. Upon your arrival, your guide in Chongqing will meet you at the station and escort you to visit Jiefangbei CBD and Ci Qi Kou ancient village. Your guide will take you to check in at the five-star Yangtze cruise ship. Have a buffet dinner on board. And you will be invited to attend the Welcome Party hosted by the Captain.

Day 10 Yangtze River Cruise

Yangtze River Cruise

The buffet breakfast is served between 07:00 and 08:00 at the dining hall, after which the river guide will give a brief introduction to the itinerary and the facilities on the ship. Then you will have a shore excursion to the Ghost City in Fengdu, a man-made underworld with historical buildings often mentioned in Chinese folklores and classics. Then re-embark and continue the cruise trip. Your lazy afternoon will be refreshed with various interesting programs arranged by the cruise company. You can fly kite on deck, attend a lecture about the Three Gorges which you are going to traverse, or learn interesting skills from ship workers.

Day 11 Yangtze River Cruise

Today, continue to sail downstream along Yangtze River through the awe-inspiring Three Gorges, namely Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge, and Xiling Gorge. In the afternoon, after some time through the Wu Gorge, you will have a side sampan tour on Shennv Stream, a poetic tributary of Yangtze River along which you get to learn about the isolated life of Tujia people, a local tribe, and see coffins hung from cliffs. The guide and the boatman will also sing some folk songs to make your day. Afterwards, re-embark the ship and continue the cruise into the western section of Xiling Gorge, the longest of the three gorges. As darkness gathers, you will enjoy some cultural performances.

Day 12 Yichang - Shanghai

After breakfast, you will check out and disembark for an excursion to the Three Gorges Dam. As the world’s largest hydro-electric project, it makes a great economic contribution by generating energy, preventing flood, and filtering sediment. Then you will be transferred to the Three Gorges Tourist Center in Yichang city, where our local guide will pick you up and take you to Yichang East Railway Station for a 7.5-hour bullet train to Shanghai, which is the last destination of your trip. A local guide will meet you at the railway station upon your arrival and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 13 Shanghai

After breakfast, you will begin the day with visits to Shanghai Museum for its numerous precious collections and then to the well-known Yu Garden, once a private garden during the Ming dynasty and now a fabulous tourist attraction showing the design style of classical Chinese garden architecture. Walk out of the garden, you will see a traditional bazaar. It is a prosperous area that both local people and travelers like to explore. At noon, an a la carte farewell lunch will be served at a famous restaurant with the best Shanghai cuisine.

In the afternoon, you will be guided to the Bund and have a one-hour cruise tour along the Huangpu River. Thereafter, go to the Former French Concession to explore Tianzifang. Many old houses there have become art studios, modern restaurants, cafes and bars, and your guide will take you to the back lanes to see the real life scene of Shanghainese.

As this is the final day for your China group tour, you need to pack your luggage after breakfast and check out before 12:00.
