      Today you fly from your preferred airport via Amsterdam to Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, the smallest independent state in South America. You will arrive in Paramaribo in the evening, where you will be warmly welcomed by your local tour guide. After a warm welcome, you will be transferred to your hotel.

      After breakfast, your city tour begins through the historic capital of Paramaribo, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. After lunch, you will travel to the Peperpot National Park. On the way, you will learn a lot about the history of the coffee and cocoa plantations, which is impressively presented in the national park and in the New Amsterdam Open Air Museum. Before the abolition of slavery in 1863, this region was an important cocoa-growing area. During the excursion, you will receive a wealth of information that shows how alive this history remains to this day. After a walk through the park, you will take a boat trip on the Commewijne River, the largest river in Suriname. This pristine region offers you the opportunity to observe river dolphins, herons, birds of prey, ibises and hummingbirds. Enjoy the sunset on the river before returning to your hotel in the evening.

      In the morning, you fly via Georgetown to Iwokrama, which lies in the heart of the South American jungle. On arrival at the lodge, you will have time to explore the local plant and animal species together with your study tour guide. After lunch, you will take a walk through the jungle, where you will have the opportunity to observe the diverse birdlife. In the evening, you will go on another excursion: you will travel deeper into the jungle by boat on the Essiquibo River. Keep your eyes peeled, as you might spot black caimans, pythons and ospreys.

      You start today with a hike over the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. On this suspension bridge, you walk through the treetops at a height of over 30 meters and encounter the local birdlife at eye level. You then hike up to Turtle Mountain. The climb may be strenuous, but the view from the summit is well worth the effort. You may spot howler monkeys on the way. At the end of the day, you will visit the Fair View Amerindian Village, where you will learn lots of interesting facts about the life and traditions of the indigenous people of Guyana.

      This morning, unfortunately, itโ€™s time to say goodbye to the South American jungle. In the morning, you will take a walk to the Kurapukari rapids. Around midday, you fly back to Georgetown, the capital of Guyana.

      After a late breakfast, you set off on a half-day excursion inland to visit the impressive Kaieteur waterfalls. Here, the Potaro River plunges over a 200-metre cliff into the lowlands of Guyana. This waterfall is one of the largest in South America and, at almost 100 meters wide, is one of the most impressive in the world. After your stay at the waterfalls, you will return to Georgetown.

      Today you will discover Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, on a city tour. You will explore the cultural diversity of the city, stroll through the historic Stabroek Market and visit the Botanical Gardens, the cathedral and other historic sights. The Stabroek Market, a market hall built in the 19th century, is still a lively market that takes place several times a week. You will also visit the Seawall, a 280-mile-long dam that protects the city, which lies below sea level, from flooding. In the afternoon, you will drive to the small village of Victoria, from where you will take a boat tour on the Mahaica River. During the trip through the mangrove forest, you can explore Guyanaโ€™s biodiversity and, with a bit of luck, spot a hoatzin. You fly back to Paramaribo in the late afternoon.

      Today you will discover another facet of Suriname. The country is known for its cultural diversity and religious traditions. In the morning, you will visit the Jodensavanne, a former Jewish settlement south of Paramaribo, which was destroyed by fire in 1832. In the last 20 years, the area around the old synagogue has been made accessible to visitors and an application for recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site has been submitted. After the visit, you will explore various multicultural markets where you can sample fresh fruit. In the afternoon you reach Berg en Dal, where you spend the night.

      Today you travel to the Anaula Nature Resort in Aurora, a village in the heart of Suriname and the South American jungle. After your arrival, you will have plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding area. At the Anaula Nature Resort you can relax, go swimming or take a walk.

      Today you start with a canoe trip in the traditional Korjaal. You will pass several local villages and have the opportunity to visit them. During this excursion, you will get to know the local Marron people and their culture. The Marron are the descendants of African slaves who once worked on the plantations and later escaped.


      You will then take a walk through the jungle. Over 80% of the country is still covered in untouched rainforest and it is fascinating to see how many different tree species grow here - over 1,000 in total! You may be lucky enough to spot some of the forestโ€™s animal inhabitants during your walk, such as colorful parrots.


      At the end of the day, you will visit the Moravian Church. In the 18th century, many of them came to Suriname, then a Dutch colony, as missionaries to evangelize the region. Today, the Moravian Church in Suriname is one of the largest religious movements in the world.

      In the morning, you set off from the Berg-en-Dal resort and drive to the Blommenstein reservoir. On a boat trip, you will explore this impressive reservoir, which was named after the Dutch Wilhelm van Blommestein. With an area of 1,560 kmยฒ, the Brokopondo reservoir is one of the largest reservoirs in the world. You will then continue your journey and return to the capital Paramaribo, where you will once again spend the night at the Eco Resort.

      Today your route takes you to Albina. The former seaside resort, which was badly destroyed during the civil war in the 1980s, is gradually recovering from the war damage. There you cross the Maroni River and cross the border: you are now in French Guiana, an overseas department of France. Here, as in Europe, traffic is on the right and the currency is the euro. You make a stopover in Saint Laurent du Maroni, directly on the other side of the border, and visit the townโ€™s former prison, where the famous convict Papillon was once imprisoned. You then continue your journey through French Guiana and reach the city of Kourou, which is best known for its Space Center.

      Today there is another highlight on the program: a visit to the Space Center in Kourou! The Space Center serves as the launch station for the European Ariane rocket, and rocket launches take place here regularly, on average every six weeks. After a guided tour of the Space Center, you will have the opportunity to visit the Space Museum. There you will learn more about topics such as the universe, space travel and satellite technology. Please note that the visit to the Space Center may be canceled due to rocket launches. In the afternoon, you will continue to Cayenne, the capital of French Guyana. Your overnight stay is planned in Kourou.

      Today, a boat trip to the islands not far from Kourou is on the program: the so-called Iles du Salut - the islands of salvation. Of the three volcanic islands, the largest and most famous is Devilโ€™s Island, which was home to a prison camp for serious criminals until the 1940s. It became famous in part due to the case of the French officer Dreyfus, who was wrongly accused of treason in the 19th century and exiled to French Guiana. Due to the dangerous access conditions, it was impossible for the prisoners to escape from the island, which is why Devilโ€™s Island is not accessible today. Instead, you will have the opportunity to visit the other two islands: Ile Royale, also equipped with a former prison, and Ile Saint-Joseph. Your tour guide will tell you many fascinating stories and facts about the islands during the excursion. Enjoy the beautiful scenery before heading back ashore in the evening.

      In the morning, you will explore an indigenous village near Cayenne. The journey then continues to the swamps of Kaw-Roura, around 90 kilometers south-east of Cayenne. These wetlands are the largest of their kind in France and are also known as the small Pantanal. They are home to numerous animal species such as the scarlet ibis, the jaguar and the black caiman.

      In the morning, you will explore the capital of French Guiana, Cayenne, once again. After more than two weeks in Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana, itโ€™s time to say goodbye today. A transfer will take you from the hotel to the airport, from where you will fly back to Europe overnight.
