      The Otavalo market, known locally as the โ€œPlaza de los Ponchosโ€ and โ€œMercado Centenarioโ€, is one of the largest indigenous markets in Latin America. Famous for its large and colorful indigenous market, it offers a variety of handicrafts: exquisitely woven fabrics, wool ponchos, hats, tapestries, hand-knit sweaters, scarves, carved tagua jewelry, and even Andean musical instruments. It is located in the province of Imbabura in the city of Otavalo. And at a distance of only two hours from the city of Quito, approximately 90 kilometers away.

      This destination presents several attractions in the province of Imbabura. You will visit the Quitsato sundial (site where the equatorial line passes through), a viewpoint of the Imbabura Volcano, the Otavalo market, the Peguche Waterfall (beautiful ritual and spiritual site where the inhabitants go to the waterfall for a sacred bath on the eve the of Inti Raymi), take a boat ride on the Cuicocha Lagoon in the Cotacachi-Cayapas Reserve or contemplate the great San Pablo Lake.

After climbing 3,280 feet (1,000 m), we will arrive in a different realm, passing the lagoon and watching as the sun shines on the Cotopaxi peak. Keep your eyes peeled for wild horses, rabbits, birds, and deer along the way! Saddle up for a trek of a lifetime, diving into the true heart of adventure.
