About experience

Day 1: Los Angeles to Lone Pine, California

Your USA road trip begins! Check in and greet your home on wheels. Load up the RV and hit the road as soon as you can (we recommend arriving with some snacks and drinks to cover you for first 24 hours). Get to know your fellow Turtle Rabbit Travellers with an opening night barbeque organised by your friendly tour manager.

Day 2: Lone Pine, California

Lone Pine was the shooting location to dozens of classic Hollywood Westerns, and it’s not hard to see why. You’re just a stone’s through from Mount Whitney, the highest mountain in the contiguous United States.

Day 3: Lone Pine, California — Death Valley OR Sequoia National Park — Las Vegas, Nevada

It’s extreme driving time! Weather permitting, you’ll have the chance to visit one of the hottest, driest, lowest places in North America. Temperatures can soar to nearly 50C (120F). Your driver-guide will check the weather to see if it’s safe to make it through the National Park and view the striking salt pans.

Day 4: Las Vegas

Go to a music, magic or theater event. Ride a roller coaster. Try your hand at Blackjack. Count Elvis impersonators. With so much to do in The Entertainment Capital of the World, it’s a good thing you’ll you’ve got two nights here!

Day 5: Las Vegas, Nevada — Hoover Dam — Williams, Arizona

We’ll start the day at the Hoover Dam, a construction project so massive that at the time of its building, nothing like it had ever been attempted. Arrive in the evening to Williams, Arizona, the wild west town that is the gateway to the Grand Canyon. This town is proud of it’s cowboy roots, which is why they feature a reenactment of a cowboy shootout every night of the summer.

Day 6: Grand Canyon National Park

Take the full day to explore the majesty of The Grand Canyon. Your friendly driver-guide will plan this day for you, driving you into the park, leading you on the best hiking trails and helping you appreciate one of the wonders of the natural world. This far from the bright lights of Las Vegas, where the stars will appear brighter and more brilliant than usual. In the evening, take a blanket outside and enjoy the stunning views.
