Studio tour - no visit to Hollywood is complete without taking a tour of an active studio. Universal Studios offers an immersive and exciting tour through 4 acres of the historic, yet still active, studio lot so you can see where some of your favorite movies and TV shows are filmed (you might even see some of your favorite actors on set!). Board the tram and take in the scenery as Jimmy Fallon narrates the tour. Peak behind the curtain of a real film studio in this Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood. With 10 back lots and 30 sound stages, this studio is one of the biggest and best, and you’ll be right in the heart of it.

Your knowledgeable guide will show you around the famous 110-acre backlot, where you’ll dodge the filming of current shows like The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Big Bang Theory and Fuller House, and maybe even see some well-known faces. Plenty of classics have been made here too, you'll get to see where Lorelai and Rory grabbed a coffee in Stars Hollow, where the Batman movies were filmed, and where the Friends cast came together.

Fun Town – the key’s in the name here, drive a car, hop on the LegoLand express, join the police and fire academy, and meet your favorite characters. And if that’s not enough you can go on the factory tour and find out what goes into making those famous bricks.

Castle Hill – this medieval zone is the stuff of legends and fantasy. You’ll joust, fight dragons, and dress up as princesses, knights and kings.

This is one not to be missed for animal lovers. At San Diego Zoo you’ll get up close to over 4,000 rare and endangered animals, and over 650 unique species from all over the world. You’ll see koalas, giant panda bears, gorillas, elephants, crocodiles and more at this mammoth 100-acre site.

As well as exploring acres of rolling greenery and habitats, you can hop on the Skyfari® aerial tram, take a guided bus tour of the entire zoo, and walk among free-flying birds in the huge aviary. Your ticket also includes free talks, feedings and animal keeper shows, so check the daily schedule before you visit.

San Diego Zoo highlights

Panda Canyon – check out the zoo’s most famous residents, the giant panda bears, and learn about their habitats and behaviors from the always-present zoo keeper.

Take a journey of discovery at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Explore exhibits and discover the creatures who dwell in sunny Southern California and Baja, the frigid waters of the Northern Pacific, and the colorful reefs of the Tropical Pacific.

Boasting 19 major habitats and 32 focused exhibits, this center is entertaining and educational in equal measure. You’ll come face-to-face with and even touch the ocean’s ultimate predators in Shark Lagoon, hand-feed colorful lorikeet birds, and watch the Magellanic Penguins play. You’ll also learn about how to conserve and help these fascinating animals and our planet.

Aquarium of the Pacific highlights

FROGS: Dazzling and Disappearing – there are close to a dozen different species in this exhibit. Hear frogs ribbet and learn about what the different calls mean. Find out about the life cycle from larvae to adult form. And see what you can do to help these precious creature thrive through interactive displays and educational graphics.

Jellies – these see-through marvels are a mysterious and fascinating inhabitant of the ocean. Find out more about the important role they play and their long history on the planet – 500 million years to be exact.

Our Water Future – learn where water comes from, how it’s used and most importantly, how to conserve it. This exhibit features hands-on displays to make it rain and see what happens when the water flows across land to the ocean.

June Keyes Penguin Habitat – get up close to twenty Magellanic penguins, explore their habitat, and learn about their issues surviving in the wild. Check out the crawl-in space and you’ll feel like you’re right in the habitat with them.

Lorikeet Forest - this exhibit will transport you to Australia where you’ll be surrounding by these beautiful multicolored birds. Find out more about their habitat and feeding habits in this 5,400-square-foot outdoor aviary. If you’re lucky you may even get one to rest on your arm – or head.

Shark Lagoon – these creatures from the deep are a highlight of this aquarium. You’ll come nose-to-nose with sand tiger, white tip, and zebra sharks and even stroke bamboo and epaulette sharks in the shallow touch pools.

Molina Animal Care Center - see where the animals get their health checks and view veterinary procedures in action. This 1,800 foot hospital uses cutting-edge equipment to ensure the inhabitants of the center are always well looked after.

OUE Skyspace LA is open daily, rain or shine. As well as the open-air outdoor deck, there's also an indoor observation deck for you to enjoy. In the event of severe weather, Skyslide and the outdoor observation decks may be closed briefly in the interests of safety.

Western Frontiers – subtitled “Stories of Fact and Fiction,” this exhibition tells the story of the American West through one of its most iconic objects—the firearm. See historical antique weapons from Remington, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Winchester, and others. Individual displays highlight the significant role of firearms in the West and cover topics such as hunting, new technology, and the legacy of the West.
