Day 1: Welcome to Cairns

Pass By: Cairns, Cairns, Cairns Region, Queensland
Feel the warmth of Tropical North Queensland, as you arrive smell the sweet scent of the wet tropics and see expansive mangroves on your way into Cairns. You will be personally met at the airport by our representative and transferred from the airport to your hotel. You can relax and use the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities, perhaps take a stroll around the neighbourhood and central Cairns.

Day 2: Cairns Coach Tour & Special Sunset Dinner Cruise

The tropical paradise of Cairns is set on the azure waters of the Coral Sea. It is the gateway to tropical north Queensland, where the ancient rainforest meets the worldโ€™s biggest coral reef. Cairns is a laid-back welcoming city with an abundance of vibrancy, tropical gardens, brilliant cafรฉs, bustling markets and mangrove parkland.

Today enjoy our guided tour of the Cairns region. Your friendly driver will pick you up from your hotel before introducing your to this captivating small city. Visit St. Monica's Cathedral (featuring the worldโ€™s largest themed stained-glass windows). Explore Cairns Museum and join our exclusive guided walking tour to see highlights of the regionโ€™s past. After enjoying afternoon tea of scones and jam, a truly local delight, join our guided walk at the Botanical Gardens. We then journey to some of the best nearby scenic lookouts, including beautiful Barron Falls and spectacular Palm Cove, returning to Cairns in time to join our Special Sunset Dinner Cruise.

Set sail on spectacular Trinity Inlet and its winding tributaries for a relaxing 2.5-hour Special Sunset Dinner Cruise. Enjoy a delicious 3 course hot and cold buffet dinner with live entertainment by some of Cairnsโ€™ best local musicians as you pass along Cairns waterfront and Esplanade precinct, delivering panoramic views of the twinkling night lights of this harbour city. Trinity Inlet is a magnificent tidal estuary with waterways winding through a 300 square kilometre maze of mangroves with a rich diverse wildlife and stunning scenery. The amazing day comes to an end as you make your own way back to your central hotel.

Day 3: Kuranda Scenic Railway - Rainforest Tour - Skyrail Cableway

The charming tropical village of Kuranda is set in the World Heritage Listed lush emerald Wet Tropics Rainforest. It is famous for its bohemian atmosphere, vibrant markets, cafes, galleries, shops and butterfly sanctuary. The surrounding Barron Gorge National Park features a thriving and ancient rainforest jungle, Barron River and breathtaking Barron Gorge with its cascading, thundering waterfallYour friendly driver will pick you up in the comfortable air-conditioned luxury coach before sharing experiences, fascinating facts and enchanting stories in the onboard full commentary throughout the day. .

Journey up on to Kuranda on the historic Scenic Railway through the tropical rainforest jungle, over steep ravines and gorges and directly past picturesque waterfalls. Experience an up-close tour of the ancient rainforest and river system on-board an amphibious duck. Explore Kuranda the village in the rainforest. Travel back down, gliding just above the rainforest canopy and gorges in a Skyrail Rainforest Cableway gondola.

This famous Kuranda Scenic Railway is a remarkable journey providing unsurpassed views of thick rainforest, steep ravines, picturesque waterfalls and gorges en route to Kuranda in the Atherton Tablelands. Construction started in 1882 and it is considered an engineering feat of tremendous magnitude. Hundreds of men built the 15 handmade tunnels and 37 bridges that stand as a monument to the pioneers of tropical North Queensland. Rising from sea level to 328m, the nearly 2 hour journey from Cairns to Kuranda passes through World Heritage protected tropical rainforest, awesome Barron Gorge National Park, Barron River and Stoney Creek. Upon reaching the village of Kuranda a rich assortment of fascinating touring and unique shopping experiences awaits you. Explore the depths of the rainforest using the most appropriate transport - an amphibious World War II Army Duck with 6 wheel drive for the forest floor and a propeller and rudder for cruising the waterways. The rainforest is very ancient and complex, with some primitive plants like tree ferns dating back over 150 million years. On our unforgettable 45 minute rainforest tour, you will see and learn about massive butterflies, ferns, orchids, strangler figs, stinging trees, azure coloured kingfisher and a host of other plants, animals and reptiles. After splashing into the waterway with propeller engaged, your Army Duck cruises up to the water's edge whilst turtles, fish and eels swim up close (look out for water dragons and pythons). Today we also visit a tropical fruit orchard growing more than 60 different types of delicious tropical fruits. Spend time at your leisure wandering through the picturesque forest village with its bohemian atmosphere, cafes and famous markets featuring impressive local arts and crafts. Board your Skyrail Rainforest Cableway gondola with remarkable views of Cairns, the lush tableland region, distant mountain ranges and right out to the turquoise Coral Sea and the Great Barrier Reef. Start your journey back down gliding metres above the rainforest canopy before descending through the canopy layers and deep into the heart of the forest at Skyrail's two rainforest mid-stations at Barron Falls and Red Peak (alight here onto rainforest boardwalks, interpretive information available through short guided boardwalk tours and an interpretive centre). Travel above Barron Gorge National Park and dense World Heritage listed rainforest. As your coach finally takes you back to your hotel, you will have experienced a day filled with new memories to treasure forever.

Day 4: Great Barrier Reef Cruise & Green Island

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the world's most spectacular natural features, an amazing underwater world of breathtaking beauty. The reef is alive with an abundance of colourful and exotic marine life, including multi-hued angelfish, vivid-yellow butterfly fish and the clown fish of โ€˜Finding Nemoโ€™ fame. Visit the beautiful idyllic coral cay of Green Island located right within the Great Barrier Reef itself. The island is an Eden of tropical rainforest, stunning white-sand beaches surrounded by magnificent technicoloured reefs teeming with diverse and wonderful marine life. You'll explore these balmy, clear waters, discovering this extraordinary underwater wonderland, your companions being huge shoals of multi-coloured damselfish, graceful butterfly fish, hawksbill turtles and charming dolphins. The islands interior is a wonderland of pristine rainforest, lush, green and verdant. You'll enjoy exciting and memorable experiences here, such as the glass-bottomed boat tour or snorkelling, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Cruise across the Coral Sea to Green Island in the comfort of your modern air-conditioned catamaran, enjoying an onboard briefing about the day's activities and options. View the coral reef and tropical fish from the comfort of the semi-submarine or the glass bottom boat or alternatively snorkel in the clear tropical waters to witness the stunning spectacle of the marine world (snorkel gear and training provided). Day 5: Tour to Port Douglas

Port Douglas; washed by the warm Coral Sea fresh from the Great Barrier Reef as it calls the adventurer to discover snorkel and dive sites and the wonders of the underwater world. Cradled in lush vegetation and kissed by the amazing Daintree National Park, the township is pure nirvana; indulge in elegant spas, excellent cafes and restaurants, Aussie pubs, sophisticated galleries, chic boutiques of Macrossan Street, drink coconut milk fresh from the palm at the Port Douglas Sunday markets, hit a ball on world class golf courses or climb Flagstaff Lookout to take in the amazing ocean vista beyond the golden sands of Four Mile Beach.

Today you will be personally met by our representative and transferred from your Cairns hotel to the resort town of Port Douglas where you will spend the next 3 days.

Day 6: Daintree & Cape Tribulation Tour

Journey through the ancient rainforest at Mossman Gorge along private, gentle tracks, visiting culturally significant sites and trailing over meandering cool rainforest streams. Hear and see the crystal clear waters of the Mossman River as it flows over giant boulders whilst you listen out for birds and other local wildlife. Step back in time and experience the magic of the Daintree as you travel to a secluded lunch site set in a hidden rainforest resort to indulge in a gourmet lunch and a swim in a cool, fresh rainforest creek.
