Itinerary of your trip Gems Of The Yukon | Hiking Tour With Hotel Stays

  • Day 1 To The Mountains!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      To The Mountains!

We pick you up birght and early from your Whitehorse hotel at 9 am, or from the airport and head 2 hours to Haines Junction.  From here we go for an introductory hike to get your eyes accustomed to the incredible views and your lungs used to the pristine northern air.

After the hike we settle into your lodging for the next two nights and head out for dinner.

      • Sheep Creek- 15 km, 1100 meters elevation, 6 hours
      • Haines Junction Lodge/ Hotel for 2 nights
  • Day 2 Birdโ€™S Eye View
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Birdโ€™S Eye View

Today we head out for the crown jewel of Kluane National Park0 Kingโ€™s Throne.  This hike takes us past the shores of Kathleen Lake (which is stunning) and up to a bench with epic views of the surrounding area and lake below.  From here we climb higher still to the top of the ridge and have National Geographic worthy views of the surrounding mountains and icefields below and to the west, as well as Kathleen Lake shimmering far below.

From this height you can truly apperciate why they say Yukon is larger than life.  Itโ€™s not uncommon to watch several incredible sights at once, like a dust storm in the distance, rainbow below you and snowflakes blowing past you, all while in the summer sun!  There truly arenโ€™t words to express the beauty so we will let you see for yourself!

      • King Throne Trail- 15 km, 1250 meters elevation gain, 6-7 hours.
  • Day 3 Follow The Gold!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Follow The Gold!

Time permitting, we visit the Da Kลณ Cultural Center to learn about the timeless history of the local First Nations that inhabit the area, as well as learn about the Park in the Parks Canada interpretive center.

After you have learned your fill we head north along the Klondike Highway, bound for Dawson City.  As we catch glimpses of the Yukon River you can imagine what the journey would have been like for gold prospectors 130 years ago, as they travelled by raft, sternwheeler and canoe through the wild lands of the north.

Once we are in Dawson City we check into our hotel and explore the town.

      • Dawson City Hotel for 2 nights
  • Day 4 Canadaโ€™S Patagonia
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Canadaโ€™S Patagonia

Today we head out to explore Tombstone Territorial  Park and stretch our legs on a hike in what is known as the "Patagonia of Canada".

We stop in the interpretive center and learn about the local flora, before heading out on the trail for Grizzly Ridge where we get some fairly easy alpine views of Mount Monolith in the distance.  Once we reach the top of the ridge, we can keep going as far as we feel like before heading back out.

After our hike we head back to  Dawson City for dinner and a fun night at a Can-Can show, entertaining ourselves in the same way the gold prospectors did long ago.

  • Day 5 Wild About Wildlife
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Wild About Wildlife

We depart from Dawson City and head back south to Whitehorse, stopping at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve on the way.  Here we take a 2 kilometer walk around the park and you will have countless opportunities to see the many amazing animals that call Yukon home.  Watch for moose, muskox, elk, mountain goats, lynx and more on this amazing experience!  You will be able to get photos of them and watch them in their natural environment.

Depending on time we either go for some sightseeing or a small hike around Whitehorse and then get checked into our hotel for the next two nights and go for dinner.

      • Whitehorse hotel  for two nights
      • Yukon Wildlife Preserve

  • Day 6 Southern Lakes Paradise
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Southern Lakes Paradise

Our last big day of exploration, but certainly not the least!  Most people totally miss out on the splendour that awaits in the Southern Lakes district of Yukon, but not you!  We head 45 minutes to Carcross, home of the worldโ€™s smallest desert, not to be confused with worldโ€™s smallest dessert, which would be tragic.  From here we head out on a hike to get back up into the alpine and soak in some more world class mountain views.  The lakes that surround Carcross are endless and make for a very cool backdrop for your mountain-top selfie!

      • Dail Peak (or similar)- 8 km, 1270 meters e;levation, 7 hours
  • Day 7 Soak It Up!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Soak It Up!

Today you have the option to be dropped off early at the airport, or at 2 pm.  If you are able to be dropped off later, we can head to the local hot springs and go for a soak in the warm, soothing waters.  There is no better reward after all the hiking you have been doing!

      • Drop off at any hotel in Whitehorse or the airport at 8 am or 2 pm.
