Guide

The Italy on a Budget tour leaders are most of them raised and born in Italy for you to have the real Italian experience but donโ€™t worry, they are all fully fluent in English! The aim of the group leader is to help you have the best trip possible. Your leader takes care of logistics, will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see and recommend great local eating venues. While not being guides in the traditional sense, you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural and social aspects. If you are interested in delving deeper into the historical facts at a specific site or location, we can recommend optional licensed local guide services in most of the main destinations of your trip. Just get in touch with us! Your tour leaders and the composition of your group may change in certain days as the groups are small and we want to make sure you can meet as many new fellow travellers as possible.

  • Day 1 Day 1: Venice
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Venice

      Check in is 2:00pm at the accommodation. Take some time to relax before joining the guide and other travel companions in the morning for orientation and a Orientation walk of the city. The evening is free for everyone to continue exploring, cruise the canals on a gondola, or venture into the city center to learn how Carnival masks are made.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Venice Free Day

      Day 2: Venice Free Day

      In the late morning join our 4h tour in the morning to the islands of Murano and Burano to check out the many colorful houses and the glass factories. You will learn about the age-old handcrafts that brought these little islands fame from the quality Murano glass and Burano lace being made first-hand. Itโ€™s the perfect trip from Venice with a combination of history and behind-the-scenes action!

      The rest of the afternoon is dedicated to exploring Venice at your leisure! Feel free to ask your guide for suggestions or activities to do in the city or why donโ€™t you hop on a gondola and have the gondolier serenade you under the Venetian stars?!

  • Day 3 Day 3: Rome

      Day 3: Rome

      Check out from your accommodation in Venice at 10:00am and spend the last morning hours to explore whatโ€™s left in the city. Jump on the fast speed train to Rome where you will arrive in the early afternoon. After check in, you will have some time to relax before meeting up with your guide at 5:00pm for an orientation walk of the Eternal City. Watch the sunset over the Colosseum and Roman Forum before we end the day with a traditional Italian dinner at our favorite local restaurant. 

  • Day 4 Day 4: Rome & Vatican City
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Rome & Vatican City

      Discover the beautiful, winding Roman backstreets with the guide and visit famous attractions such as Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps and lots more. Reach Vatican City by noon where everyone can either explore at their leisure or participate in a tour of the Vatican Museums, Saint Peterโ€™s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel with a licensed guide. The evening is free upon returning to Rome.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Florence
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 5: Florence

      The morning is free for everyone to explore at their leisure, or partake in a 9:00am tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum with a licensed guide. Everyone will head to Florence in the afternoon. After checking in, the guide will start a Orientation walk of the birthplace of the Renaissance. Discover the magnificent gothic Cathedral, Palazzo Vecchio and the Ponte Vecchio or โ€˜Old Bridgeโ€™. The tour will end on one of the busiest streets of Florence, famous for its nightlife. Here, the group will have aperitivo at a favored local bar, because nothing gets more Italian than aperitif: an evening filled with delicious drinks, an all-you-can-eat-buffet, and plenty of laughs and stories to share between friends into the night!

  • Day 6 Day 6: Pisa & Cinque Terre
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Pisa & Cinque Terre

      Rendezvous with the guide bright and early, as everyone will take the 7:00am train to Pisa. Explore the Square of Miracles, home to the Cathedral of Pisa, Baptistery, Campo Santo, and the world famous Leaning Tower. Pose in the most hilarious ways with the Leaning Tower before everyone takes the next train to La Spezia. Renown for its natural beauty, the Cinque Terre or โ€˜Five Landsโ€™ is home to some of the most stunning coastal villages in Italy. The tour will stop in Riomaggiore, Manarola and Vernazza, before the day ends with relaxing on the beach or going for a swim in the warm waters.

      We will return to Florence at 8:00pm approx.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Chianti Region
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Chianti Region

      The tour sets off into the breathtakingly beautiful Chianti Region to visit a medieval village and go wine tasting. First stops will include two local wineries, where everyone will get to tour the vineyards and sample several different types of wines, olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars. Then everyone will get to visit the historic city of San Gimignano, also known as the โ€˜Manhattan of Tuscanyโ€™ for her many towers. Each person will get to explore this magical village at their leisure, which is also home to an award-winning gelateria. The group will return to Florence in the early evening, where the night is free for everyone to enjoy.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Saturday: Florence
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Saturday: Florence

      This tour officially ends. Check out is 10:00am but feel free to store your luggage at the accommodation if you wish to see more of Florence before your departure. If you require assistance returning to Venice, please inform us prior to the beginning of the tour so we can arrange transport.
