Additionally, we will visit the Mellah, the historic Jewish district. Our next stop is Volubilis, near the town of Moulay Idriss, where you can explore the well-preserved ruins of a once-thriving Roman city. Volubilis served as one of the Roman Empireโ€™s most remote outposts, remaining prosperous until the 8th century. The siteโ€™s main structures remained intact until an 18th-century earthquake caused significant damage. Following this event, much of the marble from these structures was transported to Meknรจs for use in new constructions. We will then continue to the city of Fes, where we will arrive at the luxurious Riad Fรจs. This establishment is renowned for its exquisite dining and impeccable service. Drawing inspiration from Hispano-Moorish architecture, Riad Fรจs offers a timeless journey into the splendour and authenticity of noble Fes families, enveloping you in an Andalusian-style atmosphere reminiscent of One Thousand and One Nights. Fes

Visiting Fes is akin to stepping back in time. The imposing city walls, labyrinthine Medina, and meticulously preserved Old City have made Fes one of the most cherished tourist destinations in Morocco. Strolling through the winding alleyways of the Medina feels like travelling to the Middle Ages. Recognising its historical significance, the French undertook extensive preservation efforts. However, this conservation has also contributed to its decline, as the countryโ€™s financial and governmental centres developed elsewhere.

In 1956, most of the Jewish population left the city, and their places were taken by many rural poor who sought to inhabit the city. Consequently, the ancient centre of learning has transformed significantly. Despite this, Fes remains a captivating living museum where one can delight in getting lost. Local guides will lead you through the enchanting Medina, a vibrant monument of ancient history, teeming with tanneries, markets, craftsmen, mosques, and ceramics.

While you are here, a visit to Medersa Bou Inania is essential. This exquisite building, the cityโ€™s most beautiful, has been recently restored and reopened to visitors. Additionally, we will explore the famous tannery, known for its iconic view overlooking a ceramic factory, dye pits, and traditional potters at work.

Indulge in renowned Moroccan cuisine such as Harira (chicken soup) and chicken-stuffed pastilla with couscous, which can be savoured during your visit.

Experience the timeless charm of Fes on our luxury tours, where history comes alive at every corner.
