The Peles Castle, built in two stages between 1875 and 1914, was the summer residence of King Carol Ist and his wife, Queen Elisabeth. Visit the famous Bran Castle also known as Draculaโs castle. It was a safeguard castle for the trade route that connected Transylvania and Wallachia, built by the people of Brasov in the 14th century.
For tourists this place is the residence of the fictional character, Count Dracula. In reality, Bran Castle is connected to Queen Marie of Romania. Her story is equally interesting with the one of Dracula, if not more interesting.

Itโs time to discover the forgotten world of the former Saxon villages. On the way to Sighisoara, weโll make a detour to the remote village of Viscri, a great UNESCO site. There are just 2 or 3 dirt roads in Viscri, the main one being quite wide. This road is lined on both sides with beautiful and traditional houses, built in the Saxon style. At the outskirts of the village, perched on a hill, there is the fortified church of Viscri, one of the oldest fortified churches in Transylvania. You will visit the church and the small museum located at the entrance.

Sighisoara, another UNESCO site in Transylvania, is the next stop on your trip. Built by the Germans about 800 years ago, the medieval citadel of Sighisoara looks like a perfect postcard. More than that, youโll be astonished to discover the real place where Dracula was imprisoned according to the legend.

In the afternoon, youโll get to see the biggest and the best preserved Vauban-like citadel in Romania. Built at the beginning of the 18th century, the citadel of Alba Iulia has been restored recently to its once former glory. Besides the two cathedrals, the Orthodox and the Catholic, youโll be shown the intricate gates of the citadel, the 3rd gate being the most impressive. The old Roman castrum and the medieval citadel known as Balgrad are now integrated into the Austrian citadel. Their ruins are part of the tour.

With over 1000 years of history, Eger owes its fame to the beautiful and imposing buildings designed in Baroque architectural style, the winemaking culture, and the religious institutions.
You will start the walk from the Main Square of Eger, called Dobo Ter, after the brave captain, Istvan Dobo, who managed to defend the city fortress and Northern Hungary in 1552 against the expanding of the Turkish Empire. An interesting legend is related to this episode and for sure you will find it out during the tour. You will see Istvan Doboโs statue in the square and visit the elegant Minority Church. Continue to roam on the Baroque streets and reach the medieval Eger citadel, symbol of the city. Perched on a hill and overlooking the city, Eger citadel was the set of many battles between the Hungarians and the Ottomans. On your way down, you will pass by a Minaret, which is the Northernmost Ottoman minaret in Europe, and then head to the impressive Eger Basilica.

It is the third-largest Parliament buildings in the world and a symbol of Budapest, conveniently located along the Danube River.

Next, continue to explore the Castle District and visit the Fishermen Bastion built-in 1905. It is a combination of Neo-Gothic and Neo-Romanesque architecture and consists of turrets, projections, parapets, and climbing stairways. Its 7 towers are symbolizing the 7 Hungarian tribes that came from Asia and settled here in 896. It guarantees a great view over some landmarks like the Hungarian Palace of the Parliament, Margaret Island, St Stephenโs Basilica, the Academy of Sciences, the Chain Bridge.
