The best season to visit Egypt is from September to March, you can enjoy a less hot season and appreciate the wonders that this beautiful place has to offer. During the summer (from mid-May to late August) the heat is usually overwhelming, so it is recommended to take your precautions and go prepared.

The climate in Egypt is dry. Egypt does not receive much rainfall, except in the winter months south of Cairo. Average temperatures range from 15º in winter to 50º in the desert during the summer months, with the Nile Delta area averaging 26º.

The experience begins at the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City. The airport transfer is only included upon your arrival in Cairo and your return from Cairo.

There is no mandatory medical requirement to enter the country; however, it is recommended that when traveling to Egypt you are up to date with routine vaccinations, including MMR, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, polio and varicella vaccines.

The official currency in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound (£, LE), we recommend you to bring Dollars (USD) and change a small amount upon arrival at the airport and at the exchange houses recommended by the guide. Euros are also a currency in which payments are received at the destination as many places in Egypt accept this currency. Depending on the day and date of your experience. Once the scheduled activities are over, you will generally be able to enjoy some free time to relax and take pictures. This time will be communicated by the guide at the beginning of your experience.

After the programmed activities and according to the date of your experience you have free time. In addition to sharing with your fellow students and enjoying the hotel facilities we recommend some of the activities we have in the "extras" section. In Cairo you can: Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (the new museum), Tahrir Square, Khan al-Khalili Bazaar, the Coptic Quarter, among other places. We also recommend you to enjoy the Egyptian gastronomy in typical restaurants.

The hotels have buffet breakfast, the dishes in the buffet allow you to choose between continental breakfast and typical Egyptian breakfast food such as falafel, beans, fruits and vegetables.

In the hotels the rooms are double or triple occupancy.
If 1 person travels without a companion, they share a double room with another travel companion.

The minimum age recommended for this experience is 5 years old. Although there is no minimum age for this experience, it is not recommended for children from 0 to 4 years old. All minors must be accompanied by 2 responsible adults (18+ years old) at all times and share a room. See the "Extras" section for the charge for minors up to 11 years of age at the time of travel. Children 12 years of age and older are charged at the regular rate. The maximum recommended age for this experience for people in good physical condition is 65 years old. People over 65 years old can do this experience under their own responsibility.

It is recommended to purchase a SIM card upon arrival in Egypt to have cell phone coverage, you can buy it at the airport or ask the guide or representative to help you get it. In case you need to top up your cell phone you can do it with the help of the guide, who can easily transfer the amount you need. WiFi is usually open in the lodges; however, it is not always fast or expensive to purchase in hotels. Getting a signal or internet on cruise ships is often complicated.

What kind of clothes should I bring?

It is suggested to bring clothes for the heat, and some clothes for the cold since at night the temperature drops a lot. Long sleeves are suggested for the falucca ride. Women should wear clothes that avoid showing part of their body and that are not tight-fitting, out of respect for the Egyptian culture. Legs and arms should be completely covered when visiting a mosque. Shorts and short-sleeved shirts may be worn at tourist sites. It is also suggested to bring sunscreen, hat, small towel and other personal hygiene items.

Tipping is optional, but it is suggested to tip the guides 5-10USD if the service is good. Many workers in Egypt receive very low wages and depend mainly on tips, which is why tipping is common in Egypt. At the beginning of the tour, a basket with their own generals will be optionally collected to avoid being bothered by this issue in each service, consider between 30 and 40 USD per person for the entire tour. This basket will serve as a tip for drivers, waiters, hotel staff, etc. However, within this tip the services of the guides are not included, so the amount that you want to give them as a tip must be handled separately at the discretion of each traveler.
