  • Day 1 Day 1: Arrival - Tallinn - Matsalu
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Arrival - Tallinn - Matsalu

After arriving in Tallinn, we first drive to the west coast to Matsalu National Park. Here we move into a guest house in a dreamlike setting just a short distance from the Baltic Sea. In the evening, we start our first hike through Matsalu National Park to observe elks and the birds that live here.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Seal Tour On The Baltic Sea And Island Hike
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: Seal Tour On The Baltic Sea And Island Hike

Today is dedicated to the Estonian island worlds. Estonia owns more than 2200 islands, many of which are untouched and uninhabited. We first take a ferry to Hiiumaa (German: Dagรถ), the second largest island in Estonia, and here we board a small fishing boat that takes us to the small islands off the coast. Rare ringed seals that belong to the southernmost population of the Baltic Sea live off the islands of Hanikatsi and Saarnaki. Not shy, they often look out of the water with curiosity or lie on stones in the shallow Baltic Sea. We will dock in front of the small uninhabited island of Saarnaki and take a look at the historic farms and surrounding juniper forests there. In the evening, we return to the mainland.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Moose Safari In Matsalu National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Moose Safari In Matsalu National Park

Today weโ€™re out in Matsalu National Park, looking for elks, beavers and rare birds. Hunting is not allowed in the delta of the small river Kasari. Observation of the huge moose during the day is therefore highly probable. The floodplain and reed forests of the national park are the most important rest area in the Baltic region during the Nordic bird migration. Millions of migratory birds pass through in spring and autumn, including almost the entire population of Nordic swans, geese and cranes. In the meadows in the delta and along the shallow sea bays, we can find a variety of orchid species and other rare flowering plants, especially in late spring. On
In the afternoon, take a boat along the river Kasari. From here, we can see Nordic geese, cranes, ducks, elks, bats and beavers.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Lagoon Town Haapsalu And Soomaa National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Lagoon Town Haapsalu And Soomaa National Park

      In the

morning we visit the lagoon town of Haapsalu, the former spa town of Russian tsars and composer Peter Tchaikovsky. The train station, built entirely of wood, and the cityโ€™s massive bishopโ€™s castle are particularly impressive. In the afternoon, we change accommodation and head to Soomaa National Park, the largest rainmoor national park in Europe. The word โ€œsoomaaโ€ means moorland, and here in southern Estonia, it is mainly huge rain bogs that have formed over a process that lasted thousands of years. In spring, snowmelt causes regular flooding, which residents call the โ€œfifth seasonโ€. The inhabitants have adapted very well to the constantly changing conditions and developed their own flood culture without interfering with the natural water regime.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Canoe Tour & Moor Shoes Hike
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Canoe Tour & Moor Shoes Hike

In addition to rain bogs, the national park also protects strongly meandering rivers. In the morning we go on a canoe trip on the beautiful Raunda river. In comfortable canoes, we ride past beaver castles, ancient tremor poplars, spruces and oaks. The Kuresoo raised bog is ten thousand hectares in size and has a peat layer of up to seven meters thick. It is a huge fresh water reservoir. Only with bog shoes do we have the opportunity to penetrate the huge bog, curved in the shape of a clock glass and get to know its very special fauna and flora. Among the plants we find many special species that prefer nutrient-poor conditions. Sundew, dwarf birch, rosemary heather and cloudberry. The forests in front of the moor, where three-toed woodpecker and hazel grouse occur, have a particular charm. Here we can also see the imposing golden eagle and the shy black grouse.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Bear Watching
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Bear Watching

About half of Estoniaโ€™s more than 700 wild bears live in the forests and moors in the northeast of the country. To see them, we drive into the Alutaguse forest area in the afternoon and move into a comfortable and specially designed hut there. The bears are very careful and can only be seen at dusk. While waiting, we enjoy raccoon dogs, foxes, snow hares and maybe moose, who always like to drop by. Woodpeckers and owls can also be observed from inside the hut. At dawn, we also have a great chance to see the rare grouse.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Medieval Tallinn
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Medieval Tallinn

Today we are going to Tallinn, Estoniaโ€™s capital. Our hotel is located right in the old town. In the afternoon, we will meet for a two-hour guided tour. It goes through what is probably the most intact medieval city in Europe, with an original road system from the 13th century. Many houses from the 15th century are still in their original size and shape, and all important and representative government buildings and churches are intact.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Tallinn - Return Journey
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Tallinn - Return Journey

In the morning, there is still time for an individual stroll through the city. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport and start your flight back home from here.
