      Flight to Ponta Delgada. At the airport you will be met and accompanied to the hotel in Ponta Delgada, where you will spend the first four nights. At dinner you will get to know your fellow travelers as well as your tour guide. (A)

      Day 2: Imposing Crater Lakes Around Sete Cidades, Thermal Springs And Azorean Pineapple

      s Your day begins with a drive to the legendary crater lakes Lagoa Azul and Lagoa Verde. Take in the mystique of this green valley and the differently colored lakes on an easy walk along the crater rim (about 1.5 hrs.). Afterwards, stroll through the beautiful village of Sete Cidades. In Ferraria on the west coast, in the middle of a volcanic landscape reserve, you can enjoy a bath in the bubbling warm sea, a natural thermal pool. In the afternoon you will visit the only pineapple plantation in Europe. This is grown in greenhouses, which is unique in the world. (B/P)

      Day 3: Hot Springs Of Furnas And Exotic Terra Nostra Park

      In the morning you will drive to the hot springs of Furnas. 22 fumaroles bubble in the large crater cauldron where the village is located. You will stroll through the tranquil village. At noon you can taste "cozido", a traditional meat stew cooked by natural geothermal heat (not included). Then visit the Terra Nostra Park. 2,500 plant species await you, as well as a mineral-rich warm bathing lake that is said to have therapeutic effects. On the way back to your hotel, you will be impressed by the crater lake Lagoa do Fogo. (F)

      Today, discover Ponta Delgada, the capital of the archipelago, on your own. Take a leisurely walk to the beautiful churches, monasteries and palaces of the city. A visit to a museum, e.g. for contemporary painting or natural history, is also recommended. (F)

      Today you fly to the third largest Azorean island Terceira. You will stroll through the Renaissance town of Angra do Heroรญsmo, which captivates with its pretty alleys, churches and the dreamlike view over the harbor. 3 nights on Terceira. (F)

      Today you will take a tour of the island. You will experience an enchanting landscape as well as hidden places and walk through the wine-growing area of Biscoitos. This impresses with its lava stone formations. Together you will have a short lunch break. The volcanic cave Algar do Carvรฃo, which was formed about 2000 years ago, can be visited in the center of the island. (B/M)

      You will fly to Pico, one of the most charming islands of the archipelago and of unique beauty. During a walk you will get to know the spectacular wine-growing area (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The play of colors of the black lava walls, the green vines and fig trees and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean is an impressive experience. Afterwards, stroll through the main town of Madalena. 4 nights there. (F)

      Day 9: Hike In The Bizarre Highlands And To The Coastal Village

      Todayโ€™s drive takes you to the uninhabited highlands with laurel trees and pastures, populated only by cows. A seemingly endless expanse awaits you on your way to the beautiful Captainโ€™s Lake. Enjoy your break there before you drive from the highlands to a dreamlike viewpoint. From here your hike starts down to the picturesque coastal village of Santo Amaro. A traditional dinner at the "Adega A Buraca", which is at the same time a local museum, wine press and distillery, rounds off the day (easy, 6.5 km, walking time: approx. 2 hrs, +100/-375 vertical meters).   • Day 10 Day 10: Day Trip To Sรฃo Jorge Island

      Day 10: Day Trip To Sรฃo Jorge Island

      In the morning you will reach the island of Sรฃo Jorge by ferry. Here you will hike from a plateau down into the valley to the Fajรฃ da Caldeira de Santo Cristo, a sleepy nest without road or electricity connections. Along the north coast, the trail continues to a fantastic lagoon, which is a valuable wetland biotope with its numerous birds and frogs. The hike is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Azores! Enjoy the remaining time in the idyllic harbor town of Velas before taking the ferry back to Pico (moderate, 10 km, approx. 4 hrs, +150/-800 hm). (F)

      Day 11: Free Time And Gruta Das Torres

      The morning is at your free disposal. We recommend a whale tour or a visit to the wine museum in Madalena with the adjacent park. In the afternoon you will visit the cave "Gruta das Torres", the longest lava cave in Portugal, and learn exciting facts about the volcanic past of the archipelago. (F)

  • Day 12 Day 12: Charming Island Of Faial

      Day 12: Charming Island Of Faial

      After breakfast, you will take a ferry to the island of Faial. In Capelinhos, the bizarre lunar landscape is a reminder of the volcanic eruption of 1957/58. Here you will visit the modern underground volcano museum as well as the old lighthouse. If visibility is good, drive up to the Great Caldeira, an impressive collapse crater in the center of the island. 2 nights on Faial. (F)

  • Day 13 Day 13: Charming Horta And Free Time

      Day 13: Charming Horta And Free Time

      In the morning you will walk through Horta, the main town of the island. The lively town is known as a sailing port for Atlantic crossers and had the first marina in the Azores. Afterwards, you will have time to explore the town individually, for example visiting the town beach, the museum or the botanical garden. (F)

      Today you will fly back to the island of Sรฃo Miguel. Depending on the flight time, you will either have free time in Horta or in Ponta Delgada in the afternoon. During a joint dinner in a restaurant you will review the trip. 1 night in Ponta Delgada. (B/A)
