You will be picked up at your city hotel (estimated departure time 8:00 am) and drive with the group to the area of Arenal Volcano. Here you will visit the Ecocentro Danaus Nature Conservation Center, where you can already experience firsthand the biodiversity that characterizes Costa Rica. On the tour you can marvel at the diversity of tropical plants, amphibians, mammals, reptiles, insects and birds. There is also a butterfly garden where you can observe reproduction from egg to caterpillar and pupa to butterfly. With up to 30 species of day butterflies, it is one of the main attractions for visitors. In the afternoon, you will move into the room of the thermal resort, where you can make your first acquaintance with the volcanic phenomena of the Arenal in the form of the pleasantly warm thermal pools.

Day 2: La Fortuna - Puerto Viejo De Sarapiquรญ

Today, numerous exciting activities await you. It starts with a short drive to Arenal National Park, where you will take a hike of about 1.5 hours. Along ash-covered paths, you will cross a cooled lava river, around which a rocky footpath leads. Until a few years ago, small eruptions could be observed regularly at Arenal, evidence of which can still be seen in many places. Also enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Arenal and the surrounding rolling hills. Afterwards, you will continue your trip via Muelle and Aguas Zarcas. At San Miguel, you will reach an organic coffee finca, where you can learn about the process of making coffee and taste this world-famous hot beverage on the Mi Cafecito tour. The plant thrives here at an altitude of about 750 meters above sea level in a pleasant climate. Afterwards you will continue to Sarapiquรญ to the hotel, where you will later have the opportunity to plant your own tree!

Day 3: Puerto Viejo De Sarapiquรญ

Todayโ€™s program includes a visit to the Gรณmez family at their Finca Surรก in Chilamate de Sarapiquรญ. After fortifying yourself with a fresh fruit juice, the tour begins to the citrus plants, cassava plants, sugar cane and pineapple plantations. Varied types of other plants that produce fruit at different times of the year also grow here, and you can even get to know pepper and cinnamon bushes. Everything is grown as naturally as possible, because the tropical animals that are native here, such as the butterflies and the frogs, should not be driven away. But let the family philosophy on this subject explain itself. Today you will also have a hand in planting some pineapple seedlings yourself, before you have another opportunity to ask your questions during a joint lunch. In the afternoon you will continue your trip to the Tirimbina Rainforest Reserve. Here you will first take a short walk through the lush forest and with a little luck you may also spot monkeys, sloths, coatis and numerous different bird species. Afterwards, you will learn all there is to know about chocolate. The deep forests of South and Central America are the natural home of the cacao tree. A local guide will explain the entire process of making cacao from the bean to the delicious chocolate bar, and of course you get to snack! Unexpected weather conditions or other operational causes may lead to changes in the program schedule if necessary.

As you can see, today the absolute seclusion from civilization is sought in order to be able to immerse yourself even better in the surrounding nature.
