Day 1: Cusco Airport - Check in

Pass By: Cusco, Cusco, Cusco Region
Welcome to Cusco! The LocalAdventures representative is waiting for you at the airport for your transfer to the hotel*. He helps you with the check in and gives you interesting information about the city, including recommendations for your free day.
*Airport pickup is only available from 5h30 am to 5:30 pm.
Note: At 6 pm you have a briefing at the hotel, where the guide and coordinator explains the last details for the trek. This is the perfect moment to clear the air on the doubts you may have.

Day 2: Cusco - SorayPampa - Humantay Lake

Stop At: Humantay Lake, Cusco 08002 Peru
After a good nightโ€™s rest and a delicious breakfast, the guide picks you up at the hotel at 9 am.
The transfer is on a van that takes you to Soraypampa, the first campsite where you will stay at. This is a 3.5 hr ride. Once there, you have lunch and meet the staff that will be helping you during the trek. You leave your stuff at the incredible capsules, where you will be spending this night, that have unique views of Apu Salkantay.
After resting for a while, you go on an afternoon walk on a steep trail to get to the amazing Humantay Lake. This is a 3 hour walk (round trip) approximately.
You return to the capsules, where you can have a refreshing cold shower, if needed. You enjoy a delicious dinner and sleeping under the starry sky.

Day 3: Soraypampa - Salkantay Pampa - Challway

Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
This is the most challenging day during the trek, but it is the most rewarding one! Get ready and enjoy it!
You wake up early in the morning with a tea waiting for you and a delicious breakfast, while you enjoy watching the sunrise.
The trek starts with a 2 hr walk up to Salkantay Pampa, where you continue walking uphill for 3 more hours until you get to the base of the snowy Salkantay. At noon, you reach the highest point of the walk (4.600 m). *
*Note: You can add the horse ride on โ€˜extrasโ€™ to avoid extreme fatigue (Additional cost).
The view from this point is breathtaking! Not just the view of Salkantay (6,264 m), but also the amazing valleys and snowy peaks that surround it. After taking in the beautiful landscape, you start the 3 hour walk downhill to the place where you get lunch. After, you continue descending for 4 more hours until you reach the second campsite in Challway.
After this long and tiresome day, you enjoy a well deserved tea, a hot shower (included), and a delicious dinner.

Day 4: Challway - Lucmabamba- Hot Springs

Stop At: Banos Termales de Cocalmayo, 4 Km from Santa Teresa, Santa Teresa Peru
Wake up with the background sound of the mountain river.
Have breakfast, and get ready to depart at 9:00 am. Today you can witness the landscape changing from the Andean cold weather to the hot rainforest. This place is known as the โ€œAmazonian browโ€, here you can admire the waterfalls, fruit trees, and flora and fauna that make this a spectacular scenery.
After walking for 3 hrs, you get to Granadilla, where you ride on a local transportation to reach the third campsite in Lucmabamba. You can rest here and have lunch.
In the afternoon you visit the Cocalmayo Hot Springs, which are an hour away in local transportation. This place has 3 natural and medicinal pools that are perfect to enjoy a well deserved rest from the walk. Here you can enjoy a refreshing cold shower as well.

Day 5: Lucmabamba - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes

Stop At: Aguas Calientes, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
Today you donโ€™t have to wake up as early as the other days, so you enjoy a nice morning breakfast without any rush. Then, you depart on a local transportation towards the hydroelectric on a 1.5 hr ride. You have lunch here, where the next part of the adventure begins.
You walk for around 2.5 hrs until you reach Aguas Calientes, where you check in at the hotel. After refreshing, you meet the group at reception and go off to enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants in the city. (Beverages are not included).

Day 6: Aguas Calientes- Machu Picchu - Cusco

Stop At: Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu Peru
The day youโ€™ve been waiting for has finally arrived!
The visit to Machu Picchu is very early in the morning to admire the beautiful sunrise on site. You leave Aguas Calientes on an early walk at 5:00 am. You walk on a zigzag trail for about an hour to reach Machu Picchu.*
The guide meets you at the entrance to start the 1.5 hr guided tour around the amazing site. This is the perfect moment to learn more about the Andean culture and the importance of these temples, as well as you can enjoy the breathtaking ruins.
When the tour ends, you can enjoy free time to take pictures and take in the natural beauty of this place. Later, you return to Aguas Calientes going on a downhill walk for about an hour, or you can get the optional bus transportation back to the city.*
*Note: You can buy the bus service from Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes on this same day. Cost: 12 dollars per trip
Once you are back in Aguas Calientes, you have some free time to explore on your own and have lunch. Later, you get on the train to Ollantaytambo, where a van transfers you back to your hotel in Cusco (4 hr journey).

This incredible adventure ends today. The checkout is at 9:30 am. You can leave your luggage in reception, if you have spare time before your departure flight. You take the transfer for the airport at the agreed time.
