Day 1: Travel to Kea
Stop At: Spathi Beach, Spathi 84002 Greece
The beach of Spathi is one of the most beautiful on Kea. It is large with nice bright sand and can be found at 14 km from Ioulida, the capital of the island. The travel to this beach is also very pleasant, since it takes visitors to an arid area of tranquil beauty, after which a green valley appears on the scenery.
This beach occupies an important place in history as well since it used to be one of the main locations on Kea during ancient times. This importance was related to economic issues since the area used to be rich in iron and rubric, so it gave place to extraction activities.
On the other hand, this beach is mainly taken advantage of in tourist terms in our days, as it counts on some accommodation options, such as nice holiday cottages and a cafe near the beach. In addition, Spathi beach is also included on the bus service schedule, parting from Ioulida to Korissos, the ancient settlement.
Duration: 5 hours
Stop At: Koundouros Beach, Main Road Greece
Koundouros beach is on the northwest part of the island. The location of this beach, 18 km from Ioulis, the capital, makes it a very popular area that usually receives many yachts from the mainland during the weekends.
The beach itself has nice features and is very picturesque, with restored stone mills. Among its advantages, we can point out its protection from the north winds, and its facilities which include some taverns, as well as good accommodation options.
Although some areas on this beach are being under construction -with all the discomfort this implicates- the remaining areas provide great crystalline waters and a nice, calm atmosphere in which just the sound of the waves can be heard.
Those who plan to spend some time at Kea and enjoy being close to the beach instead of the town will surely take advantage of the available options at Koundouros. Then, when it comes to relaxing and enjoying its natural beauty, the most tranquil areas that have not been used for massive building can be enjoyed; although many people also like the vibe that Koundouros offers.

The beautiful town of Ermoupolis is the capital of Syros as well as of the entire Cyclades. It is a commercially and culturally developed sea settlement of unique architectural beauty, a great reminder of the brilliant past of the city. This town was founded by the refugees and Greek revolutionaries who came from various parts of Greece, such as Chios, Psara, Kassos, Crete, Asia Minor, to the French-protected Syros to escape the massacres organized by the Turks during the Greek Independence and after the Revolution of 1821.
Those people put their powers, faith, and capacities together and created the magnificent Ermoupolis, which became prosperous very quickly and turned into the most important commercial shipping nation as well as the cultural center of the New Greek Nation of the 19th century.
Ermoupolis owes its name to Hermes, the god of trade. The great economic prosperity of the city was followed by social and cultural development and the appearance of a Greek bourgeoisie. The glorious past of the capital can still be seen in its wonderful neoclassical architecture: old mansions, marble-paved streets, grandiose marble squares, imposing churches, monuments, statues, and well preserved superb neoclassical buildings adorn the amphitheatrically built city. This architecture justifies the various names the town often used to be called Little Milan and the Duchess of the Aegean.

The beautiful Venetian settlement of Ano Syros was built around 1200 AD and has become the catholic district of Ermoupolis. It is located to the left of the city, facing the orthodox settlement of Vrodado which is on the right side of Ermoupolis.
This wonderful settlement has been built amphitheatrically to protect it from the enemies, with houses built one on the top of the other, therefore forming a defensive fortress, stone walls, narrow streets, wooden balconies, and many arches and arcades.
The combination of typical Cycladic architecture with the medieval influence gives an interesting and beautiful result that will charm every visitor wandering around the little streets and numerous whitewashed steps of Ano Syros. At the highest point of the city stands the Catholic Cathedral of Saint George, and nearby is the Centre of Historical Studies.
Ano Syros is the birthplace of the famous rebetiko (popular underground music imported by the refugees of Asia Minor after 1821, considered as the Greek Blues) a composer, singer, and bouzouki master Markos Vamvakaris. A square has been named after him and a small museum on Piatsa, the central square of Ano Syros, displays his personal effects and records.

The excavations that took place in the area during the past and present centuries brought to light the fortified settlement of Kastri, located at the top of the hill that goes by the same name, and the extensive cemetery of Chalandriani, where the rows of its graves once stretched across the plateau of Chalandra, in the northeast of the modern settlement of Chalandriani, and reached to the sea.

Day 5: Sail to Serifos
Stop At: Livadi, Livadi, Serifos, Cyclades, South Aegean
Livadi is the harbor town of Serifos and unlike what many would expect, Chora is not the most developed area in terms of commerce and tourism, as it keeps its traditional features.
Being the main port of Serifos, Livadi has the best tourist infrastructure, the village offers a variety of hotel accommodations, restaurants, taverns, bars, and clubs with excellent views of the Aegean Sea.
For those who like to watch the sunrise views at the beach, there are some cafes opening early in the morning for breakfast. As for nightlife, Livadi still comes first although Chora offers several good places, too. Many of the mentioned facilities including restaurants and clubs close late in the evening.
Although the nightlife on Serifos is not characterized by being wild, it offers an interesting mix of quiet spots with a great atmosphere.
Another good point about Livadi port is the available transport options it counts on. Boats offer visitors short trips to the nearby beaches as well as the nearby islands like Kythnos and Sifnos. In addition, Livadi is usually included on the schedule of many cruises across the Cyclades.
In case you have planned to spend all your day on this island, remember to visit the close beach of Livadakia, which is a well-sheltered location from the winds offering many facilities as well. In the case of Livadi beach, it is a little less quiet, since there is a good number of ferries that arrive and dock.
Duration: 5 hours
Stop At: Agios Sostis Beach, Agios Sostis, 840 05 Greece
It is common for many islands in Greece to count on tiny pebbled seashores, which in many cases are neither safe enough for children nor nice for going for a stroll.
However, islands like Serifos, do not share those kinds of drawbacks. Agios Sostis is mainly recommended for those who enjoy peace, but do not like isolation and want to have easy access to crowded places as well. Therefore, apart from being one of the best-reputed beaches on Serifos, Agios Sostis has a very suitable location.
First of all, it is 6 km east of Livadi, meaning that it has easy access to all many facilities. Livadi is the port of Serifos offering numerous amusing places and various types of accommodation. To get there from Livadi, you should take the main road, which turns into the dirt just before the beach. Then, it is necessary to leave the car at the parking lot and walk around 200 m to reach the water.
Moreover, Agios Sostis beach allows for enjoying other beaches as well. For example, when traveling north from the eastern coast, you come across the sandy beach of Lia, the neighboring Psili Ammos, and also Agios Ioannis beach.
In case of planning an excursion, you must also include the beaches of Lavrakia and Karavi. Remember to look for Agios Sostis church, below which the beach is located, and visit also the one at Agios Ioannis.
Regarding the features of Agios Sostis, it is a nice shingle and sandy beach. The picturesque church is located on the edge of a cliff and is an ideal place for enjoying peace and relaxing. Although the port of Livadi is not very well reputed among those who love peaceful beaches, because of the high activity, the rest of the beaches included in this settlement do not share this little inconvenience.
Duration: 5 hours
Stop At: Psili Ammos Beach, Greece
Psili Ammos is one of the most popular beaches on Serifos located on the east coast, at about 8 km north from the port of Livadi. The available options for reaching Psili Ammos are on foot, which takes around an hour from Livadi, or by moped, which rentals are available at the port as well.
Just take into account that the road there tends to be bumpy, although it is not very difficult and traveling this way saves a lot of time.
The name Psili Ammos means soft fine sand and it is definitely the right one, considering its features. In addition to this, the shallow crystalline waters and the tree-lined shore providing shade, make it a suitable beach for children. In fact, this beach has been voted as one of the most beautiful beaches, not only in Greece but also in Europe according to the British newspaper Sunday Times.

Day 6: Sail back to Kythnos
Stop At: Kolona Beach, Kolona, 840 06 Greece
The beach of Kolona is basically a narrow strip of land that connects Kythnos to the islet of Agios Loukas. However, it has a particular charm, partly due to its fine, golden sand and the sea lapping at both of its sides.
In addition, the beach is surrounded by gentle, quite infertile slopes. Kolona beach is situated approximately 3 km to the west of Chora village and can be reached by taxi boat from Merihas, the main port of Kythnos. It can also be reached on foot, which takes a couple of hours from the port.
This trip is advised only if you like hiking, otherwise, this option is not recommended. If you want to drive there, have in mind that the road is pretty rough and you will probably need a jeep to go. If you own a private boat, it will be necessary to land directly on the sand, as there is no quay. Among the few facilities of Kolona beach, we can mention a tavern, which opens in the daytime.
On the other hand, although it does not have any umbrellas, there are two large trees providing shade. Kolona is reputed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Kythnos and has a great romantic vibe. It is one of the locations that cannot be missed when visiting Kythnos island.
Duration: 5 hours
Stop At: Kithnos Town, Kithnos Town, Kithnos, Cyclades, South Aegean
A classic Greek island's town, complete with white houses, colorful flowers and pristine churches, Chora town on Kythnos is extremely picturesque.
The narrow streets and quaint little squares have an old-world charm to them, which when coupled with the quite modern and well-equipped restaurants, form an unbeatable combination. Some of the more famous churches which warrant a visit are the church of Agia Triada, the church of Agios Panteleimonas, the church of Metamorfosis and also the church of Ioannis.
An interesting fact about these churches was that they were for both Catholic as well as Orthodox pilgrims, with the Catholics praying on the left side of the church, while the latter use the right side. The Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) church is the oldest of them all, while the church of Agios Prodromos is visited by locals and tourists for a glimpse of its coveted 17th-century screen.
One particularly interesting attraction near Hora is Loutra, located just 4.5 km from the town. It is famous for its hot spas which are believed to have healing waters, attracting hundreds of visitors at all times.
Some famous beaches nearby Chora are Episkopi, Apokrousi, and Martinakia, all of which are easily accessible. Located just 8 km from the port of Kythnos, Chora is an ideal first stop on the island.

Day 7: Sail to Lavrio
Stop At: Temple of Poseidon, Cape Sounio, Sounio 195 00 Greece
Cape Sounion is found about 70 km to the south-east of Athens, on the southernmost tip of the Attica peninsula. According to the myth, this is the site where Aegeus, king of Athens, fell into the sea because of a misunderstanding. Theseus, the son of Aegeus, had traveled to Crete to kill Minotaur, the legendary monster who lived in the palace of Knossos, and to release Athens from the obligation to send seven boys and seven girls every year to the king of Crete, only to be eaten by Minotaur. Theseus thus had said to his father that if he killed Minotaur, he would hoist a white sail on the return home. Theseus indeed killed Minotaur and was returning to Athens safe and well but unfortunately, he forgot to hoist white sail and had a black sail on his mast. Aegeus saw the black sail from Cape Sounion and believed that his son was dead. His despair made him fall into the sea and, later on, the Athenians gave the sea his name, the Aegean Sea.
