      Hiking To The Village Of Theth: T3, 9H, ↑1100M, ↓1450M, 23Km

Today’s is one of the most beautiful hikes of the entire trip. Almost the entire hike is surrounded by steep mountains with stunning views. The ruins, which lie along the path, are witness of the communist past when it was forbidden to walk around this area.

The day begins with the hike to the Gjeshtarë glacial lake, at the border between Montenegro and Albania. From there the trail follows the Rapojana Valley ascending in southwestern direction up to “Fusha e Runicës”. Then, we will continue on mainly flat terrain up to “Sheu i Bardhë”, where a short break near a water source is planned.

The trail follows southwards with slight slope differences, on a firm grass and stony path and then continues in the direction of the Peja glacial lake. We will continue hiking in the direction of Peja Pass. From there the descent towards Theth follows a narrow rocky trail that leads down the valley. The last part is surrounded by colorful scenery, forests, mountains and passing streams. Dinner and accommodation are provided in a guesthouse in Theth. (B/Packed Lunch/D)

Then we will hike to the Waterfall of Grunas and to the Grunas Canyon that is 30 meters in height and one meter in width. After a short break, the hike continues up to Ndërlysaj. On the way, is planed the visit of the mill of Kolaj, a small structure which is put to work by a stream of water diverted from the river.

The glacier mills of Ndërlysaj offer a unique nature spectacle. The water squeezes itself through a narrow approach that has arisen over the millennia. Rounded and sharp rocks, half dipped into the shimmering colors of water and all-around green vegetation will surround our path. We will continue our hike up to the Blue Eye of Kaprre, a spellbinding natural pool with amazingly blue water in a jungle-like environment. After a short break, follows the hike back to Ndërlysaj, from where we will continue to our guesthouse. (B/L/D)

  • Day 13 Tirana, The Vibrant Capital
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Tirana, The Vibrant Capital

For the morning, we have planned a visit of the capital city and its main attractions. Tirana is located in Central Albania, at the foot of the Dajti Mountain. At its south and west it is surrounded by hills that form a green belt around the city. Founded in 1614, Tirana became the capital of Albania in 1920 and is its main cultural and industrial center. The city boulevards are marked with fascinating relics of the Ottoman, Italian and communist past.

Tirana has changed incredibly in the last twenty years, from the dull, grey city it once was. Tirana is a city where fun is guaranteed: lively, loud, crazy, colorful, simply fascinating.

After lunch, you will have some free time to explore the city on your own, or just to relax in one of the plentiful lounge bars, taking in the Tirana lifestyle.

We will meet again for a farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant. After dinner you can have a drink in one of the nice bars in "Blloku" quarter, the most animated quarter of the capital. (B/L/D)
