      Enjoy the  diversity and great andean mountains landscapes. Visit the traditional market in the morning.  The afternoon will be dedicated to discover the local communities of the surrundings and its traditions: Peguche village, located a few kilometers away from Otavalo, is the weaving center, where the majority of the inhabitants devote themselves to the artisanal weaving, using a belt loom or a pedal loom. There are a couple of ateliers to observe the different designs and uses of looms and vegetal pigments to obtain colors. 

      Close to the village is Peguche waterfall, important ceremonial and purification place for local communities. 

      Drive back to Quito at the end of the afternoon

      Morning  visit the Colonial district of Quito, a World class historic district: declared by UNESCO Cultural Heritage in 1979.  

      The visit will lead you to the Independence Square โ€œPlaza Grandeโ€ and stroll in its beautiful streets and get marvelled by the impressive religious and civil buildings dating from colonial times. The most remarkable examples of Barroco can be admired in churches and convents. You will visit La Compaรฑia, San Francisco Churches. Our visit will end with a raw beer tasting and ill enjoy typical sweet delicacies of Quito.

      After lunch we will drive to the Middle of the World valley, in the little village Pomasqui, you will learn about the millenary plant: Agave, its properties, and traditional uses, as well as taste the traditional beverage. You will continue to Intiรฑan an interesting museum where you can experiment about the physical laws that only happens in the Middle of the World.

      Drive to the eastern side of Quito, Once you cross the highest point (12000ft) you drop down to reach the Amazon plains. This trip will let you to admire the impressive change in scenery from the highest point to the lowlands of Amazonia. 

      Hummingbird farm. Along with tea or herbal tea and some biscuits, you will witness more than ten species of hummingbirds flying near the hotelโ€™s bird drinking stations to have some sugared water. If the weather permits we will walk on a small path to try finding several bird species.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Amazonia - Banos

      Morning departure from the Amazon rainforest back to the Andean region. Visit to a Balsa Atelier in Puyo and tasting of sugar cane juice and traditional alcohol madeof sugar cane.

      We will continue along the โ€œWaterfalls Avenue and the Pastaza River Canyon. Several waterfalls can be observed: The Bride`s Veil, Devilโ€™s Cauldron, Machay, among others. You can also experience canopy traversing the Pastaza River. A few kilometres away to Casa del Arbol, originally used as a monitoring area to the Tungurahua volcano activity, this place offers a beautiful view of Baรฑos and the surrounding mountains.

      Baรฑos is  a pleasant little spa town. Of interest: the Dominican Church Our Lady of Holy Water, important place of pilgrimage; time to observe in the Main street artisans who prepare melcocha, the fruit and vegetable market; and a  Tagua workshops, plant fibre otherwise called "vegetable ivory".

      Morning visit to the indigenous community located at Salasaka at 45 minutes from Baรฑos. This community is mostly dedicated to agricultural activities. They also dedicated some of their time to weave in hand and traditional looms tapestries, hammocs and other goods. You will have the chance to taste some local Andean fruits

      In the afternoon drive along the Volcanoes Avenue direction to Cotopaxi Region Panoramic View of this active volcano.

      Morning excursion to Quilotoa Lake, the route is impressive, We will head to the little indigenous community and village of Zumbahua and then to the lake. The Panoramic view of the lake is inspiring, we can walk down from the rim to the waterโ€™s edge or even descent to the shores of the lake (depending on the physical and weather conditions). 

      In the afternoon we will visit some little villages where the local people create nice goods: ceramics and pottery aswell as Tigua a little village which is famous for it โ€œnaifโ€ style painting.

      Morning visit to the highest active volcano of the world Cotopaxi, whose name means White Neck. Its almost perfect cone is ideal for a fabulous picture. Depending on the weather conditions we will try to climb up to the refuge located at 4800 m. We can hike around Limpiopungo lake to discover some birds, humming birds  and wild horses herds. 

      It is possible to enjoy a horse back riding in the surrounding areas of Cotopaxi Volcano or experience a  bike down hill.

      Upon arrival in Galapagos, your documents will be checked: 

      1. Migration Card TCT review at the counter of the Government Council.

      2. Payment of the Galapagos Entrance Tax: $ 100 usd (to be paid in cash) at the Galapagos National Park counter.

      3. Hand luggage check at ABG - Agency of Biosecurity and Quarantine for Galapagos.

      Your guide will be waiting for you at the Arrival Lounge and will transfer you to Santa Cruz Island.

      On the route we will visit the Highlands zone of the Island Visit some of the most spectacular places on the island: Los Gemelos, Lava Tunnels, and a Private Reserve in the Highlands


      Los Gemelos are two huge collapses of lava flows formed by a series of volcanic eruptions, we will walk around in the surroundings enjoying the breeze, the colorful vegetation, and the famous Scalesia forest.species of finches, pigeons, and mocking birds.

      We will also visit a local farm where we will learn about the life of local families who arrived in the Archipielago in the late 60โ€™s. We will taste local coffee while watching giant tortoises walking by.

      We will walk for approximately 45 minutes to Tortuga Bay. This is one of the longest beaches of fine white sand in the archipelago. Along the trail, marine iguanas can be seen. Once in the place, you can see two zones: Playa Brava, where you can practice surf and Playa Mansa, enjoy clear waters, and observe coastal migratory birds. The beauty of the environment and the tranquillity of its waters will reward the walk. 

      The excursion includes the experience of cleaning Tortuga Bay Beach from microplastics that arrives with the marine currents. You will dedicate 45 minutes/ 1 hour to this activity,helping and supporting the conservation of this fragile destination.

      In the afternoon, visit the Charles Darwin Research centre and the various corrals, including the roomwhere Lonesome George is exhibited.we will learn about the conservation programs for the Archipelago.

      At the scheduled time, drive to Itabaca Channel to embark on board a boat to the selected island. (Visits are subject to change due to Operational and Scheduled itineraries approved by Galapagos National Park). 

      BARTOLOME ISLAND: This is the icon of the Archipelago. You can climb to the summit where you will appreciate one of the most spectacular views of the Galapagos, a landscape of two beautiful bays and fascinating geological formations of lava and volcanic cones. The Pinnacle Rock stands between the bays. Then you will enjoy one of the famous beaches in the World. There are great possibilities to snorkel with penguins, sea turtles, sharks, sea lions. 

      NORTH SEYMOUR: In this island, you will appreciate one of the largest colonies of Galapagos birds. You will be able to see the nesting of the Blue-footed Boobies with their unique mating dance and colourful royal frigates. After lunch, you will snorkel with sea turtles, Galapagos sharks, and sea lions. Then you will visit Bachas Beach where you will enjoy the wonderful sun and sea of the Galapagos.

      PLAZAS SUR: A dry landing to disembark on this marvellous island. We will observe one of the largest sea lionsโ€™ colonies in the archipelago. During the walk along a ravine, you will observe land, marine and hybrid iguanas (a mixture of land and marine), birds, especially blue-footed and masked boobies, frigates, forked-tailed gulls, and pelicans. Plazas is famous for its attractive giant cacti and depending on the season, the vegetation changes its colour from deep green to orange and purple. 

      Return to Santa Cruz Island and then transfer by bus to Puerto Ayora Village.
