Stop At: Padrao dos Descobrimentos Avenida Brasilia Belem, Lisbon 1400-038 Portugal
It was build originaly in 1940 by the occasion of the Portuguese World Exhibition to honor the historical figures involved in the Portuguese Discoveries. The current replica, in concrete and stone, is more recent, having been inaugurated in 1960.

At the top of its highest hill, stands the Castle of Sรฃo Jorge. With the immense estuary in the background, from here you can have an almost 360ยบ view of the city: to the east the labyrinthine neighborhood of Alfama; to the west the grid of the streets of Baixa Pombalina, the imposing Praรงa do Comรฉrcio, the Rossio, the ruins of Carmo; to the north, the new avenues. Who did not go to the Castle did not see Lisbon.

Day 2: Sintra, ร“bidos and Fรกtima, Batalha or Nazarรฉ

Stop At: Centro Historico de Sintra, Sintra 2710-616 Portugal
This one is for sure one of the most beautiful visits on the route. The village grows on the top of a green hill, and populated with beautiful palaces, manor houses and a castle. Here we will hang around the small historical center, and a Tuk Tuk/Cabrio tour is provided, so you can get picks of the best views and hidden spots.

ร“bidos is the best example of a Portuguese walled city and is one of the best tourist destinations in the Lisbon region.
Historically, ร“bidos was presented to the Queen of Portugal on her wedding day, a tradition that began with Queen Urraca in 1214 and continued until the 19th century. This royal sponsorship has left a lasting legacy of pride within the city, and today it is one of the most important cities in central Portugal.

This monastery of the Order of Sรฃo Domingos was built over two centuries until about 1563, during the reign of seven kings of Portugal, although the first Dominican friars had lived there since 1388. An example of late Portuguese Gothic architecture, or Manueline style, it is considered a world heritage site by UNESCO, and on July 7, 2007 it was elected as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.

Day 4: ร‰vora, Tomar and Coimbra

Stop At: Evora, Evora, Evora District, Alentejo
ร‰vora is the capital of the south-central region of Portugal, the Alentejo. In the historic center of the city is the ancient Roman Temple of ร‰vora (also known as Temple of Diana). Nearby, whitewashed houses surround the Sรฉ Catedral de ร‰vora, a huge Gothic structure that began in the 12th century. The Church of Sรฃo Francisco has Gothic and Baroque architecture, together with the Chapel of Bones, decorated with bones.

We will pass on one of the most important and bigest dams in Portugal - Castelo do Bode - that used for water supply, namely Lisbon, electricity production, defense against floods and recreational activities. It is used by fans of sports such as windsurfing, sailing, rowing, motor boating and jet skiing, as well as sport fishing (trout, largemouth bass, eels and red crayfish).
