The two weeks on Pico can be arranged flexibly - depending on the wind and weather, you arrange the individual program points. So, together with the guide, you can choose the most beautiful days for the whale watching tours. The following excursions are planned:

Six trips to the sea: in the waters around the island of Pico, the chances are very good to observe sperm whales as well as other sea runners. Humpback, fin and sei whales may also cross your path, as well as various species of dolphins. Sperm whales are present here all year round. You may also see sea turtles, flying fish or the beautiful Portuguese galley (jellyfish). Sailing over the waves are the yellow-billed shearwaters, true flight artists.

Visit of the Whaling and Agriculture Museum in Lajes do Pico: The small but nice museum gives a nice insight into the time of the whalers and the traditional agriculture on the island of Pico.

Visit a whale watching post on land: A network of vigias (lookouts) is spread across the island. Observers sit here and report whale sightings. You will visit one of the observers and listen to his stories.

Visit to the breeding grounds of the Yellow-billed Shearwater: The shearwaters return to their nests on the cliffs at dusk and have a lot to tell each other. The sound of the distinctive "ouch" calls is a special spectacle.

Observation of the Azores Evening Swift: With a little luck you will find the Azores Evening Swift, a diurnal bat species and the only (land) mammal originally native to the Azores.

Day trip to the island of Faial: The night bar island of Pico is characterized by a completely different vegetation and is overlooked by a large caldera into which you can look. You will also visit the "New Land", created by a volcanic eruption in 1957-58, and visit the famous marina with the legendary Peter Cafรฉ Sport, port of call for sailors from all over the world.

Highland tour: The landscape in the highlands of Pico with its countless small craters and heath plants, cattle pastures and volcanic stone walls as well as small lagoons invites to small explorations. From various vantage points, the view sweeps over the island, the coast and across to the neighboring islands of Faial and Sรฃo Jorge - and in good weather to the spectacular summit of the Pico volcano.

Visit to the wine-growing area: The wine-growing areas of Pico are a UNESCO World Heritage Site - and rightly so: the wonderful Pico wine is grown here in painstaking manual labor in small fields surrounded by volcanic stone walls. You will learn everything worth knowing about this traditional work.

Of course, there will also be plenty of time to relax, explore on your own or have interesting conversations over a glass of Pico wine. 13 nights at the hotel.
