After going down a small and narrow secret staircase, you will go under the hacienda and you will find the underground tunnels of the slaves that connect Hacienda San Josรฉ with another 4 haciendas in the region and with the port 17 km away. The tunnels were used at the time to secretly and illegally get the slaves from the port to the hacienda.
