Here in the mountains of the province of Cocle is the largest populated volcanic crater in the world. Once a crater lake, it was later settled by the indigenous population of the surrounding mountains. El Valle has a very pleasant climate and unique birdlife. On site, you have the opportunity to get to know the area better on short hikes. For example, you can visit the El Macho waterfall, "La Piedra Pintada", a rock face with pre-Columbian stone carvings or the Butterfly Haven, a butterfly farm, or treat yourself to a face mask in the warm mineral springs "Pozos Termales".

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: El Valle De Anton - Las Tablas

Today we continue west on the Panamericana. Once you arrive in Natรก de los Caballeros, it is worth visiting the historic church. The town is one of the oldest in the country. Of the colonial buildings, only the church, which was renovated with donations from the German Embassy and is one of the oldest on the entire continent, dating back to 1520, the year the town was founded, can still be visited today. After a typical Panamanian lunch, you visit a local make-up artist in his house in the pretty and historic village of Parita. He will explain to you how the typical Panamanian diablicos masks are made and, of course, you can also buy one as a souvenir on the spot. Afterwards, visit a private house where you can watch how the polleras, the Panamanian national costume for women, are made by hand over many hours. The beautiful, finely crafted traditional dresses are a colonial legacy from Spain and are very valuable. The value of a very good pollera is around 3000 US dollars. Overnight stay in a hotel.
