Hand Hygiene: ● mandatory application of antibacterial gel (70% alcohol) by everyone entering the vehicle that is used for transportation during the tour; ● implementing mandatory hand-hygiene policy that requires regular scheduled use of hand sanitizer and washing hands with soap by the staff during the tour, especially after touching objects in public areas (e.g. handrails, doors, money, mobile phones, etc.). Masks: ● mandatory use of a face masks or other protecting items (e.g. scarfs, kerchiefs or bandanas) covering nose, chin & mouth by both travelers & staff in all public areas (especially in confined environments such as public transport, shops, markets, museums, lobbies of hotels etc.); ● the use of the mask is not mandatory in private areas (e.g. hotel rooms) and while having meals & drinks. Sanitation: ● mandatory daily sanitation of the vehicles used for transportation of travellers by the staff especially of handles, doors, seats, and other frequently-touched surfaces; ● use of cleaning and disinfecting products that are approved by local & international health authorities; ● regular audit of our suppliers on their cleanliness & sanitation protocols. Physical distancing: ● mandatory social distance of at least 1.5 m (~5 feet) by both travelers & staff throughout the tour. Health assessments: ● mandatory daily health assessments of all travellers & staff (measuring the body temperature & oral questionnaire on COVID-related symptoms). Most of the accommodations are centrally located, tourist-class, locally-owned properties with private facilities in each room (unless specified in the itinerary). We can arrange pre- and post-tour accommodations but not earlier than 2 weeks before the departure when we send you final trip notes. Logistics & notes DEPARTURE & ARRIVAL : We will leave our accommodation in Chiapa de Corzo on Day 2 morning and arrive in San Cristobal de las Casas on Day 8 afternoon. AIRPORT TRANSFERS : This tour doesn’t include airport transfers. Tuxtla Gutiérrez International Airport is just 33.3 km away from Chiapa de Corzo and is easily accessible by both taxis and public transport. This Airport is 77.3 km away from San Cristobal de las Casas and is also easily accessible by taxis. PHYSICAL CONDITION : This tour involves a decent amount of walking & hiking. Therefore, travelers should have at least moderate physical fitness condition. AGE : Due to required physical condition, the recommended age of participants in this tour is 12-69 years. However, potential participants outside of the above-mentioned age group can still participate upon request if (1) they are in a good physical condition (2) that will allow them to cope with the pace of the group tour. ACTIVITIES : Participation in all activities is optional - just be sure to be in time for daily departures. Start the Palenque Tour in the colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo. Considered one of the oldest towns in Latin America, it’s well-known for being an entry point to the spectacular Sumidero Canyon. Arrive at the airport at any time and take an independent transfer by taxi/shuttle bus to your accommodation. Once there, take your time to rest or explore the town. In the evening, meet your Tour Leader and the rest of the group for a welcome meeting and dinner in one of the local restaurants.

Then, go to Puerto Arista, a quiet regional beach town famous for its extensive golden-sand beaches. Once there, ride an ATV and enjoy the stunning sunset on the beach. Later, go to the lush tropical highlands of the Sierra Madre to visit a coffee farm founded by the Swiss family in 1880. After that, transfer to the nearby town of Huixtla and join your Tour Leader for an orientation walk of its compact Historic Center.
