Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavรญk

Stop At: Reykjavik, Reykjavik, Capital Region
Check in to Hotel Klettur (transfer optional) .

Day 2: Golden Circle

Stop At: Thingvellir National Park, Thingvellir Iceland
We tour the renowned Golden Circle. Our first stop is Thingvellir where the forces of the Great Atlantic Rift are clearly visible. This is where the North American and European tectonic plates drift apart at a rate of 2-6 cm per year. Thingvellir is also the place where the ancient Icelandic parliament was established in 930.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Geysir, Geysir, South Region
Then we head for the famous Geysir hot spring area, where Strokkur erupts every 5-10 minutes.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Gullfoss, White River, Blaskogabyggd 801 Iceland
We also visit the Gullfoss (Golden) waterfall.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Fridheimar, Reykholt 801 Iceland
We visit a local farm, know for its greenhouses where they grow tomatoes in the arctic weather with help of geothermal energy. We also visit their stables, housing the unique Icelandic horse.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Lava Centre, Austurvegi 12-14, Hvolsvollur 860 Iceland
Visit the new Lava Centre in Hvolsvรถllur
Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Vik, Vik, South Region
We then drive to our accommodation near the town of Vik, where we will stay for 2 nights at Hotel Katla. If weather permits we head for a Northern Lights hunt, the guide chooses the night with better prospects.โ€‹โ€‹

Day 3: Glacier Lagoon

Stop At: Jokulsarlon, Jokulsarlon, East Region
โ€‹We head east, along the southern shore to the unique Jรถkulsarlon Glacier lagoon. The lagoon developed around 60 years ago with continuing process of calving and falling of icebergs from the glacier tongue Breidamerkurjรถkull. Breidamerkurjรถkull is part Vatnajรถkull glacier. These icebergs are seen in two shades: One type in milky white, while the other type is in bright blue colour. This being caused by interplay of light and ice crystals.

The lagoon is filled with fishes that drift in from the sea along with the tides. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch the fish during the winter.

Stop At: Skaftafell National Park, Vatnajokull National Park 785 Iceland
On the way back to Vik we also visit Skaftafell National Park which is part of Vatnajรถkull National Park. It contains some of the most prized natural sights of the country.

Day 4: Volcanoes and Waterfalls

Stop At: Skogafoss, Skogar Iceland
Visit to Skรณgafoss Waterfall
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Seljalandsfoss, Hella Iceland
Visit Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. You can even walk behind the waterfall if the conditions allow.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Blue Lagoon, Nordurljosavegur 9, Grindavik 240 Iceland
The final highlight before getting back to Reykjavik is the spectacular Blue Lagoon. You have a choice of viewing the lagoon or enjoy soaking in the mineral rich water with its fine silica mud (bathing is optional at extra cost)

In the late afternoon we arrive in Reykjavik, where we will stay at Hotel Klettur
