Day 2: Between The Fjords &Amp; The Arctic Circle: Small Town Norwegian!

Good morning! So, are you up early again? No wonder, because with your anticipation for today you just couldn’t stay in bed any longer! Your keys are already jingling happily in your pocket as you think about today’s road trip destination. Your route takes you past snow-covered mountain peaks and shimmering dark blue fjords. Need a break? Then stop at a coastal section of your choice and, with a bit of luck, you’ll be joined by singing humpback whales and orcas on the hunt for fish! The hilly landscape is increasingly criss-crossed by water - a magical sight to remember. Then you have reached today’s destination near the Lofoten Islands.
Welcome to Narvik! The harbor town is located on a headland between two arms of the Ofotfjord north of the Arctic Circle. Want to get an overview first? Then take the cable car (optional, payable locally) and travel comfortably up to the local mountain! The view from up here is priceless! The surrounding mountains, the fjord - everything shines in unique beauty. What else can your eagle eyes spot? Perhaps a restaurant where you can fill your stomach with local fish specialties tonight?

From the upper cable car station, you have the opportunity to hike out into the mountain landscape to get even higher! Enjoy the view to the full - with the naked eye and through the lens of your camera. Seen enough? Then it’s back to the city, which you now finally want to explore with all its beautiful nooks and crannies. Sit down in one of the cute cafés and order a typical Norwegian treat like the Kanelbolle. Or simply drift through the alleyways and see where they take you - after all, that’s the best way to explore! Are you a history buff? Then the Krigsminnemuseet should be on your bucket list, which vividly depicts Narvik’s eventful history (optional, payable on site).
  • Day 4 Day 4: Lofoten: Journey To Another World!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Lofoten: Journey To Another World!

Excited is not an expression at all, because today is a day when dreams come true! Impressive rock formations, fjords straight out of a picture book and the relaxed attitude to life of the islanders: you can hardly wait to experience all this up close and personal. Quickly straighten your rear-view mirror and off you go: The Lofoten Islands are waiting for you!
A quiet "wow" crosses your lips at the sight of your surroundings: You’ve landed in a completely different world! Red fishermen’s huts, built on stilts directly on the rocky shore of the deep blue sea, a rugged mountain landscape, only occasionally covered by sparse vegetation: the people here have turned this seemingly inhospitable area into a dreamlike place to live - and the perfect playground for you to explore! So: a quick check-in at your accommodation and off you go. Are you hungry? Then head to one of the many fish restaurants and order a local specialty such as bacalao to really get a taste of Lofoten!
  • Day 5 Day 5: Untouched Norway: Between Trollfjord &Amp; Fishing Village
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Untouched Norway: Between Trollfjord &Amp; Fishing Village

Ready to immerse yourself in the world of Lofoten? Then let’s go! The European highway E10 connects the islands of Lofoten, but you can only really immerse yourself if you simply park the car and continue on foot. No windshield separates you from nature and you can feel the unspoiled nature of the Lofoten Islands up close! Back on the road, you head for Henningsvær: a small fishing village on the south side of Lofoten. The village stretches across eight islands, which are connected by bridges. Stroll between the little houses on stilts and if you need a bite to eat, make yourself comfortable in one of the many cafés. Need to recharge your batteries? Then it’s on to the Trollfjord. At just 2.5 kilometers, it’s certainly not the size of the Trollfjord that makes it so special. Rather, it is its unmistakable beauty that you can get very close to!
  • Day 6 Day 6: Time For Beach: Sandy Beaches North Of The Arctic Circle
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Time For Beach: Sandy Beaches North Of The Arctic Circle

After rocky cliffs, stilt houses and mountain panoramas, how about a sandy beach today? That’s right: Lofoten never ceases to surprise! Haukland Beach and Uttakleiv Beach are among the most beautiful beaches on the islands, both of which are easily accessible on four wheels. Kvalvika Beach is more secluded and hidden and can only be reached after a short hike. Suddenly you are standing on fine sand, looking out to sea and can hardly believe that you are standing many kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, as turquoise blue as the water shines towards you.
The rest of the day you simply drift across the island. You drive off where you like it right now and soak up the indescribable landscape around you. What time is it actually? You have lost all sense of time, because from mid-May to mid-July there is midnight sun on the Lofoten Islands, which is why it is still daylight until late in the evening - all the more time for exploring!
  • Day 7 Day 7: Vacation Vibes: Between Stockfish &Amp; Sea Breeze
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Vacation Vibes: Between Stockfish &Amp; Sea Breeze

Today you want to soak up the pure Lofoten vibes once again! The best way to do that? By letting yourself drift and simply seeing what the day has to offer! You step on the gas pedal and just go for it. You notice the many wooden racks along the way - are there fish hanging on them? Yes, the fish are hung out to dry here! The climate on the Lofoten Islands, with its strong winds and low humidity and temperature, is ideal for preserving fish, during which they lose 70% of their weight but hardly any vitamins and nutrients. The end result: the so-called stockfish! Are you keen to experiment and want to try it? No problem: there are plenty of restaurants that serve this local specialty. Just choose one and embark on a culinary adventure! With new flavors on your tongue and the sea breeze in your hair, close your eyes and simply enjoy the moment - that’s how vacation works!
  • Day 8 Day 8: Norway’S Archipelagos: Welcome To The Vesterålen!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Norway’S Archipelagos: Welcome To The Vesterålen!

After unforgettable Lofoten experiences, you take another look back so that the postcard motif with bright red stilt houses in front of a rugged cliff face will remain in your memory. You wave back at the scenery in the rear-view mirror before looking ahead to your new adventure: off to Vesterålen! You enjoy the road trip to the full, until you spot the Møysalen mountain massif, which is more than 1200 meters high, from afar. Now you know: It can’t be long now!
With its fjords, skerries, rivers and lakes, moors, lonely mountain valleys and plateaus as well as white sandy beaches, the Vesterålen Islands are in no way inferior to the Lofoten Islands in terms of scenery. However, they are not nearly as well known and therefore less visited - perfect for solitary exploration tours through untouched nature! After checking in, take some time to explore your surroundings or take the first route across the unique archipelago and look forward to tomorrow when you can finally start exploring!
  • Day 9 Day 9: Vesterålen: The Unknown Sister Of Lofoten
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 9: Vesterålen: The Unknown Sister Of Lofoten

You jump out of bed full of energy today, because the archipelago is waiting to be discovered! You throw on your best hiking outfit and are already out the door. A quick stop at the café to fortify yourself with breakfast and off you go again. Probably the best-known hike in Vesterålen is the Dronningruta, the "Queens Route". It got its name from the Norwegian Queen Sonja. And that’s exactly where your rental car will take you today! The circular hiking trail between Nyksund and Stø is stony, earthy, rocky, boggy and very challenging - that doesn’t put you off? Perfect - then embark on an adventure! Still missing a tick on your bucket list? How does whale watching sound to you? In fact, Vesterålen is the only place in Norway where whales can be spotted at any time of year. Hop on a boat and go on a tour with an almost 100% whale guarantee (optional, bookable in advance).
  • Day 10 Day 10: Adventure Ahead: The Call Of The Far North!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 10: Adventure Ahead: The Call Of The Far North!

Mmmh, what a good breakfast in the morning! Today you can explore the part of Vesterålen you haven’t seen yet - where are you going? Perhaps to the untouched western islands? No matter which route you choose: You’ll always be amazed at the landscape that passes by your windshield and gives you magical images that you’ll never get out of your head! Seen enough? Then steer your rental car towards your destination for today.
As you approach Harstad, you can already see the 1200-metre-high Møysalen mountain, which is located in the national park of the same name, from afar. You check into your hotel and make your first plans for exploring your surroundings. The best way to get an overview is to hike up the local mountain, Gangsåstoppen, from where you have a perfect panoramic view of Harstad. And now? You hear your stomach growling - and the evening plans are clear!
  • Day 11 Day 11: Senja: Norway In A Nutshell
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 11: Senja: Norway In A Nutshell

Rise and shine and head off on a road trip adventure! Of course, a hearty breakfast is a must beforehand, and with so many lovely cafés just around the corner, you won’t have to look far for one. Well fortified? Then you’re ready to go! You marvel at the backdrop of deep blue fjords and snow-covered peaks passing by your window as you drive. Hopefully you still have some memory left on your camera!
Then you finally reach your destination: the island of Senja. It is also known as "Norway in miniature", as the island combines everything that is typical of Norway: rugged mountain landscapes with cliffs that rise steeply out of the sea, hidden bays and gentle valleys. Incidentally, the region is considered a real insider tip and is not yet fully developed for tourism - perfect for undisturbed discovery tours! Get an overview first and enjoy the nature that is all yours here.
  • Day 12 Day 12: Lost Places: In The Jewel Box Of The North
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 12: Lost Places: In The Jewel Box Of The North

With its untouched nature and few tourists, Senja is a real treasure trove for outdoor enthusiasts - and now is the time to discover it! Your destination is Ånderdalen National Park. There aren’t many paved hiking trails, but that won’t stop you. You will explore this natural paradise over hill and dale and find viewpoints and natural secrets that you would otherwise never have discovered. Some of the trees here are around 500 years old, lakes and waterfalls provide a relaxing ripple and, with a bit of luck, you can also get very close to the wildlife: Look out for otters, moose and red foxes. In the northwest of the national park, mountains up to 1,000 meters high rise out of the sea, while in the southeast you can watch cows grazing peacefully on green meadows in deep valleys. You can’t believe that this place is not yet listed as an absolute highlight in every travel guide - lucky for you, you can still enjoy it all for yourself!

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Today you make your way back to Tromsø, but don’t worry - your journey isn’t over yet! You step on the gas once more and soak up the Nordic vibes around you until the imposing cityscape of Tromsø appears before you again in the distance.
Butterflies spread in your stomach at the thought of discovering more nooks and crannies of the Norwegian city: the many colorful wooden houses, cobblestone streets, cozy bars and the warm hospitality of the Norwegians - let’s go! Do you want to memorize the sight of the city once again? Then make your way back up Storsteinen - the cable car will take you to the summit in just 4 minutes! From a height of over 400 meters, you can let your gaze wander, with the Tromsø Bridge, which connects the city center on the island of Tromsøya with the Tromsdalen district on the mainland, naturally standing out. Once back down, take a stroll through the lively city before enjoying a typical Norwegian meal in the evening. God appetite!
  • Day 14 Day 14: Dreamlike Tromsø: Happy All Round!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 14: Dreamlike Tromsø: Happy All Round!

Tromsø is known for many superlatives due to its location: the northernmost botanical garden, the northernmost brewery, the northernmost cathedral ... you’ve already discovered much of this, but what’s still missing from your bucket list? Perhaps some unusual cuisine? Then try local specialties such as grilled stockfish or reindeer fillet! While you enjoy the delicacies in a cozy restaurant, think about what else you would like to do today: just relax or do some action? Anything is possible and there are plenty of ideas: a walk along Telegrafbukta beach, a short hike through the mountains or a boat tour across the fjord (optional, payable on site)? No matter what you choose: Enjoy your last day in Tromsø to the full and snuggle up in bed in the evening, satisfied and with lots of new impressions in your head!
