You will be warmly welcomed at the airport and then set off on your first panoramic tour of Riga. You will visit the historic Kalnciema district with its restored 19th century wooden houses, a popular meeting place for locals, where farmers’ and craft markets are held regularly. On Saturdays, the Agenskalna market attracts visitors with regional products that you can sample. Check into your modern hotel in the late afternoon. You will get to know your travel group over dinner at the hotel. Afterwards, take a stroll through the festively decorated Old Town of Riga.

Not far from Riga is the baroque Rundale Castle, which you will visit on a special guided tour in historical garb. This magnificent 18th century work of art is one of the finest works of the Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, who also designed many Baroque buildings in St. Petersburg, including the famous Winter Palace. The palace served as the summer residence of the Duke of Courland. After the tour and a walk through the beautifully landscaped gardens, you return to Riga.
