Day 1: Arrival In Merom Golan

Youโ€™ll arrive in Kibbutz Merom Golan during the day at your preferred time. Kibbutz can be reached by bus from Kiryat Shemona. Kiryat Shemona offers a bus service from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

  • Day 2 Day 2: From Merom Golan To Aloney Habshan
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: From Merom Golan To Aloney Habshan

The walk starts directly from the property. Itโ€™s an epic 22 km long day with a number of fantastic views in all directions. The excitement begins in the morning when you circle the peaks of two sleeping volcanoes halfway up: Mount Bental and Mount Avital. You have great views of Mount Hermon and the Syrian Golan Heights. In the middle of the hike you will cross the main road near Kibbutz Ein-Zivan. It is a good place for a lunch break with a chocolate factory (also a cafe), a nice bakery and a boutique winery. The trail leads east and climbs to the next vantage point on the top of Mount Bney Resesen. After descending from Bney Rsesen Mountain, climb the Bashanite Ridge and back down to Moshav Aloney Habashan for walking distance.

If 22 km is too much for you, the day can be shortened to 12 km by starting it in Ein Zovan (Requires an additional taxi transfer to the starting point of the walk.)

Day 3: From Aloney Habshan To Keshet

A relaxed day compared to the first two days. It is halfway to Hushnia. Here you will find the remains of an 8th-century guest house on the top of a hill and the ruins of a Circassian village at the foot of the hill. The Circassians are an ethnic group from the North Caucasus that was relocated to Syria by the Ottomans around 1800. A good place for a lunch break. Just before you reach Keshet, you will come across a stream and a few springs. A great picnic area to round off the day. The spring is about 2 km away and the property is within walking distance

Day 4: From Keshet To Daliyot

It is a relatively relaxed day, mainly on flat and simple gravel roads, but full of natural beauty and historic sites. The walk takes place in a flat area, which is characterized by a series of calm, shallow natural water channels that form many inviting picnic areas. Around noon you will reach the fascinating site of โ€œRugum El Hiriโ€. It is a mysterious archaeological site dating from the Bronze Age (3000-2700 BC) and consists of 40,000 basalt rocks (some called the โ€œIsraeli stone sheathโ€). The day ends a few kilometres from the Daliyot campsite, where a taxi will pick you up and take you to your Keshet accommodation. Towards the end of the trail you will pass the Gamla Nature Reserve, where you will see Israelโ€™s highest waterfall (51 m) and the ruins of the 2nd. We highly recommend this visit and can arrange the transfer from the site at the end of the day. (No extra charge).

Day 5: From Daliyot To Keshet

A short taxi ride from the property will take you to the Daliyot campsite (where the hike ended the day before). An easy start will take you to an old basalt-built arched bridge over the Semech stream. A beautiful picnic area in the shade by the stream. A few kilometres later, you will reach the magnificent remains of the old synagogue of Ein Keshatot. Donโ€™t miss a visit to this unique archaeological site! After the tour, the trail leads down to the confluence of Semech and Elal. Another delightful picnic area. From the streams, climb up to Mohsav Bney Yehuda.

If 24 km is too much for you, the day can be shortened to 14 km by starting it in Ein Keshatot (requires an additional taxi transfer to the starting point.)

A taxi will take you back to Keshet. Keshet has a bus service to Katrzin, and from there you can continue to Tiberias or Tel-Aviv.
